“The boy’s family planned to sue the school district for failing to properly train and supervise staff to ensure the safety and well-being of its students.”

Heck, the school system should be suing the parents for being so negligent as to allow their son to have sleepovers and “playdates” at a substitute teacher’s house.

Could this have possibly been a setup? The parents allowed the “playdates” because they suspected this would happen and wanted to cash in on it?

I just find it a little unbelievable that parents would allow that.

Schools normally have zero or very low oversight on substitute teachers. Most oversight comes from the school itself where the teachers work. A sub works for the school board and changes schools often so bad behavior often it missed.

If I had been that lucky at age 13 to pork a decent looking teacher, I don’t think I would have complained to my parents and I sure as hell don’t see how it could have impacted me in a bad way. BUT, I most likely would have bragged to a few of my buddies and who knows where the story would have gone then. Reminds me of the movie Summer of 42 which was a classic book in the 1970’s (it was on the reading list at my all boys Catholic High school) before becoming a classic movie in Hollywood. Today its considered perversion, I’m sure but back in the 1970’s and in the late 1940’s which is the setting for the book and movie, the dude was just one lucky mutha, especially since the gal was so hot looking.

When I was 13 and under the influence of the raging hormones associated with puberty, I have no doubt I’d have gleefully allowed myself to be statutorily raped by her as well. Doesn’t mean it would have been the right decision…or an excuse for the adult in the situation.

A 13 year old boy is not mature enough to evaluate the risks associated with such behavior and make informed decisions about them, which is why the teacher’s actions were a crime, regardless of any pleasure the boy took from them.

I agree with you 100% as a 64 year old man, but if you read what I wrote, I was relating to my 13 year old brain who, back then just had girls and sports on my mind, not getting into the Marines with HIV, which wasn’t even around in the mid 1970’s.
