Two people dead, one person in custody, after shooting on Detroit’s east side

Two people are dead and one is in custody after a shooting Thursday morning on Detroit’s east side.Police say the shooting happened just before 11 a.m. Thursday in the 3800 block of Bewick Street. When officers arrived, they found two people dead in the street.
Investigators say a gunman shot another person, and then that gunman was shot by someone else. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison says the second shooter may be a relative of the first victim and could have been acting in self-defense.
“It’s been too much violence in this city. Even though crime is down, it doesn’t feel like it,” Bettison said.
Bettison says some of the violence plaguing the city this summer is gang-related.

If you can find one, the Winchester 1200 is a great shotgun.
If you insist on all steel, the 1300 is quite good.
I have both. My Winchester 1200 has a funny story behind it (to me at least). About 25 years ago I was perusing the back room of a Movie Gallery, with my Taurus 617 .357 on my hip. Even at the time, I figured I might have looked suspicious, because I did what any young man would do and ensured there were no attractive women in the store to see me venture into that room. The next thing you know, Officer Kennedy walked up behind me and asked if he could remove my revolver and have me follow him outside. He was younger, not much older than me, and seemed like a rookie. But the was polite and professional. Within a few minutes, two or three other Chesterfield County cops had pulled up, including one K-9 officer I’d encountered before. This was back when Chesterfield wore more traditional uniforms, but the K-9 cop wore a tactical jumpsuit and just seemed like one of those power-hungry military wannabe cops. Long story short, everything went well, they ran the gun, found nothing, and all of the cops except K-9 were professional. Officer K-9 asked me why I was carrying, and I gave him my standard answer about it being my constitutional right and legal under state law. He told me that just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s smart. I was young and dumb, but even then, I figured him to be someone who’d have arrested me for anything he could get away with, and it pissed him off that I was doing nothing illegal. After about 45 minutes, I left and drove to Southern Gun World (aka Southern Police Equipment, which it changed its name to in the early 2000s), across from the VA State Police HQ. They had a bunch of police trade-in shotguns. Remington 870s with folding metal stocks for $200 and a couple of Winchester 1200 Riots for $150. My 590A1 is bigger and heavier than the 1200 and looks more menacing, being all black and with a bayonet lug and other fancy things. The 1200 has wood furniture and a standard 18″ barrel.
A couple of years ago, I bought a 1300 Defender similar to the one in this thread: Winchester 1300 Defender shotgun with forend pistol grip : r/H3VR. I forget exactly, but I think I paid about $150-$200 for it. My brother had one in the ’90s, before he became a felon and eventual methematical genius.
Just maybe the idiots in charge just might want to concentrate on something like, you know, GANG CONTROL. Instead of blaming the tools the gangs use.

Detroit is 90% or higher gang activity daily at about 5:20pm, after all of the workers have fled the confines of that urban jungle.
