Police ID burglary suspect shot, killed by homeowner in central Phoenix
By Peter Valencia
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police in Phoenix say a burglary suspect is dead after being shot by a homeowner Sunday morning. He’s since been identified as 25-year-old Kwame Hightower.
Authorities say they were called to a home near 11th and Orangewood avenues, north of Glendale Avenue, on reports of a burglary around 7:45 a.m. The homeowner told dispatchers that a man was in his backyard trying to force his way into the house.
Before officers arrived, the homeowner told the 911 operator that he had shot the man.
Police arrived and asked the family to come outside, which included small children. Officers secured the area, and paramedics pronounced Hightower dead at the scene.
Video from the scene showed Phoenix police detectives working to piece together what led up to the shooting, but officers say the homeowner is cooperating with the investigation.
No arrests were made. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.

Mr. Hightower chose, poorly. Thanks again Gun Bunny.

With a name like “Kwame”, let me guess your skin melanin color.
BTW, is Claw available with the Whiz Wheel? This one might hold some minor interest.
Be advised that there is another individual in Maricopa County with the exact same name, only he’s 35 years old. As well as another one in Gary, IN with the exact same name. However, no middle name was found on any of them, so the Whiz Wheel®™ spin is as follows:
Kwame Hightower (DRT) 34 x 3 = 102
When I was in school, we had 3 or 4 Dudes who used to chime off in the school yard and their first song was I Met Him On A Sunday 1958 by the Shirells on decca, but they chaged the him to a her and one of the guys name was Hightower. I used to hang out with then when they were hitting the notes.
I’ll bet he could hit the high notes…..

Who doesn’t own a 870 in one form or another?
You can hunt ducks, geese, partridge or even put down a
mostly peaceful demonstration.
“ACCURACY Accurate enough” heh heh
Had one, never could feel good with it. Wound up selling it and the coach gun and bought a Model 12. Don’t hit more birds but feel better about what I’m holding when I miss.
There is no such thing as missing, with a shotgun.
Such incidents are better referred to as circumstantial/situational dispensations.
Blame it on the coriolis effect.
I like the Mossy 500 with the safety up top, but neither is a slouch for its intended purpose.
We had a former Viet of the Nam Huey Marine pilot working for us and since he was waiting for his open carry NYC permit to come through, He let off the 850 double O buckround into the trucks cab ceiling and for a few months every time the truck made a turn, you could hear the shot rolling around the top of the ceiling. He eventualy got another job working for the Port Authority New York New Jersey PD..Crew was doing Martins dept Store Fltbush ave in Brooklyn and they had a backup crew to go into the store to make the pickup due to a report that the NYPD had that there might be a robbery so at the elevator, one of the guards had an AD and the buckshot went into the ceiling outside the elevator with customers hitting the deck. One guard was loading or unloading the 850 at the loading/unloading trap in the garage outside dispatch and an AD occured with the shott making holes in the above ductwork and the gun custodian chalk circles around the holes….
WTF did I type I, meant to type 870 on the shotgun that we used at Brink’s.
At least all the AD’s you mentioned went vertical.
I’ll call it a good shoot.
Stolen Valor FGS.
They got him in New Jersey.
VG ran 2 articles on this guy in February and May 2024.
Plenty here for a 3rd.
