Florida nurse caught by husband having sex with her 15-year-old stepson loses medical license: report
A Florida nurse was allegedly caught by her husband having sex with his 15-year-old son following weeks of reported seduction and has lost her medical license, according to a report.
Alexis Von Yates, 35, had her single-state nursing license revoked last week as she awaits criminal trial for last July’s alleged statutory rape of the minor who was visiting his father in Ocala, Fla., for summer vacation, Law & Crime reported.
“Nurses are placed in a position of trust,” the Florida Department of Health said in an order, according to the outlet.
“Therefore, it is imperative that they demonstrate good judgment and good moral character. Ms. Yates’ decision to engage in sexual activity with a minor child and/or her decision to engage in oral and penetrative sex indicates that she lacks the good judgment and moral character necessary to be a registered nurse,” the statement on the April 25 suspension read.
On the night of July 26, 2024, Yates put her two children to bed and then hung out with her 15-year-old stepson on the living room couch. The pair reportedly hit a THC vape, played video games, and watched movies, while his lineman father was working late, according to a Marion County arrest affidavit.
At around 1 a.m., Yates flipped on horror movie “Terrifier 2,” then further tempted the minor — declaring the movie was boring and stating how “horny” she was because “she had not had sex in two weeks and she was on her period,” the victim told cops.
The pair then cuddled closer, with the 15-year-old first kissing Yates on the neck and the pair proceeding to make out, with Yates allegedly saying, “I wish you were 18, because you’re not old enough,” according to the affidavit.
Yates then “kicked off” her panties and the pair engaged in oral sex and intercourse without a condom, according to the affidavit.
The unsuspecting father and husband came home from his blue-collar job to discover his wife and son on the couch, completely naked. The 15-year-old ran out of the house but allegedly heard Yates explain that the child victim looked like his father when he was younger, the affidavit claimed.
The father then drove his son to his grandparents’ house, telling the boy he “ruined his life” while drinking beer on the drive over, according to the affidavit.
Prior to the alleged sex assault, Yates allegedly engaged in several acts of seduction and overt flirtation toward the minor.
“I bet everyone thought you were my little boy toy,” Yates allegedly said to her stepson as the pair finished a workout at the gym she belonged to.
On another occasion, Yates allegedly made a show of making whipped cream and then put some on her tongue and stuck it out at the minor.
“Oh, you like that?” she said solicitously, according to the affidavit.
The 15-year-old also told cops that in the week leading up to the alleged sexual encounter, Yates would regularly speak to him about being “horny.”
The day after the incident, Yates had the gall to call the boy, saying she wished they had kept having sex and that her husband had not discovered them, the affidavit claimed.
She also asked the 15-year-old to rate her sexual performance, to which he replied, “Seven out of ten,” the affidavit read.
A concerned family member reported the incident to police after the boy’s father neglected to call cops, according to the affidavit. Yates was arrested in November, according to Ocala News.
Yates is charged with felony lewd or lascivious battery with a victim age 12 to 16. She has pleaded not guilty.

Propane Truck Ignores Wooden Bridge’s Weight Limit and Falls Into a Creek
A propane truck fell through a wooden bridge in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, in a completely avoidable incident that could have cost the driver their life. The Sharp Energy trucker was reportedly transporting a full load on Tuesday afternoon, April 29, when they decided to turn onto the wooden bridge that connects Orchid Place with the Wildlands Conservancy. They barely made it a full truck’s length before the structure collapsed, dropping the tanker into Little Lehigh Creek.
Sharp Energy told CBS News Philadelphia, “We are aware of the situation and are working closely with local officials to investigate the incident.”
How could this have been avoided? For starters, there’s a sign before the bridge that clearly states its five-ton weight limit. CDL-carrying truck drivers are supposed to know the weight of their trucks for situations like this. Even if the driver didn’t know the exact weight of the truck, they should have at least paused to check. The average weight of a fully loaded propane tanker is between 10-15 tons, so at least double the bridge’s limit.
It also seems like a mistake other truck drivers don’t make. According to nearby residents, there’s another road that truck drivers use to avoid the bridge, which can clearly be seen from Google Maps—even if it’s a bit out of the way. “Most of the time when heavy equipment comes in here, they come up this road because of the bridge. Perhaps it didn’t know that that was a weight limit,” said Emmaus local Brad Landis to CBS News Philadelphia.
Thankfully, the driver wasn’t hurt in the collapse, nor did any propane leak. A crane crew spent hours removing the tanker, and the recovery process temporarily knocked out power for neighbors. It also damaged one of the conservancy’s main access points, which will be a big inconvenience until it’s fixed. The town has the bridge in full repair mode, though, and will hopefully get it back in order soon.
I don’t drive big trucks, nor do I envy anyone who does. It seems like a difficult job to navigate those massive, heavy vehicles, so I don’t like to criticize. But c’mon, man. There was a sign right there.

Russian scientist working at Harvard Medical School detained by ICE — because she didn’t properly declare frog embryos
They were serious about that “NO FOREIGN FLORA OR FAUNA”?
A Russian scientist working at Harvard Medical School has been detained by federal immigration officials for failing to declare frog embryos, according to her attorney who said the feds are “just doing their job.”
Kseniia Petrova is being held at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Louisiana after she was taken into custody at Boston Logan Airport after returning from a personal trip to France on Feb. 16.
Her research visa was revoked because she did not properly declare frog embryos she had brought back to the country, according to The Harvard Crimson.
Petrova — who was arrested in Russia in 2022 for speaking out against the Ukraine war — was given the option to be sent back to her native country and be barred from re-entering the US for five years or return to France and apply for a new visa, the student paper reported.
She chose France, but when she told a CBP officer that she feared persecution back in her home country, the agency detained her instead, according to a petition filed by her attorney, Gregory Romanovsky.
“As upset as I am with ICE, they are not at fault and are just doing their job,” her attorney, Gregory Romanovsky, told Fox News.
Petrova, a bioinformatician at the Kirschner Lab, was bringing the frog embryos back to Cambridge to study at the request of a professor at a French lab in Paris working with Harvard and was unaware that she would have to claim them at customs.
Petrova’s unintentional failure to declare an object at customs, which typically only results in officials seizing the object and a possible fine up to $500, is not enough cause for CBP to cancel her visa, Romanovsky claimed.
Petrova fled Russia after she publicly protested Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, first to Georgia and then the US in 2023.
If she’s ultimately deported Petrova would be sent to France rather than Russia, as she holds a visa which allows her to stay in the European Union’s Schengen area for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
“She cannot return to Russia without being jailed or harmed,” Romanovsky said. “It’s going to be a suicide for her to go back.”
Petrova is currently being held at Richwood Detention Facility in Louisiana in a room with over 80 other female detainees, according to her Facebook post and GoFundMe started by her friend and coworker.
She’s scheduled to appear in immigration court on May 7 in Jena, Louisiana related to her asylum case.
Romanovsky has also filed a habeas corpus petition challenging CBP’s decision to detain her. A federal hearing has been scheduled for June 9 in the District of Vermont, but he’s requested the hearing be expedited.

Police: man arrested after entering home for beer during house fire
A 56-year-old man is facing several charges after police say he went inside a burning building for his beer after authorities told him to stay outside.
Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said Michael Anthony Casteel was ordered multiple times by police and firefighters not to go back into a home that was on fire on the 300 block of North Spring Avenue Sunday afternoon.
Casteel allegedly went inside the home twice despite the orders.
Clemens said Casteel finally cooperated once he came outside with two cans of Bud Ice Premium.
His blood alcohol content was 0.082.
Casteel was arrested on two counts of obstruction, one for obstructing law enforcement and one for obstructing a firefighter.
Clemens said he was also arrested for violating the 24/7 sobriety program.

CHP says big rig rolled into Grapevine scale house with diesel pump and hose still attached to fuel tank
California Highway Patrol (CHP) troopers recently caught an unusual semi truck fueling mishap at a scale house in Lebec.
On April 15, CHP took to social media to call out a truck driver for a major “oops” moment at the Grapevine scale house located off of I-5.
“Oops! Well, considering this diesel pump hose traveled the distance from Visalia to our scale house (approximately 96 miles) and was found in this condition was quite impressive!” CHP said.
Troopers shared photos snapped inside of the scale house facility of a diesel fuel pump and hose still attached to the truck’s fuel tank.
There’s no word from CHP on whether the driver was cited.
