SECDEF Targets Media Leakers
SECDEF
For too long, instances of unauthorized disclosures of national security information have gone uninvestigated at the DoD. @SecDef is committed to aggressively pursuing parties responsible for any leaks and will refer them to law enforcement for criminal prosecution. Efforts to subvert @POTUS command of our Armed Forces, to endanger the lives of our warfighters, or to harm our national security will not be tolerated. ACCOUNTABILITY IS BACK.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Launches Investigation into Leaks of Sensitive and Classified Information
Kristina Wong
The Department of Defense over the weekend announced an investigation into leaks of sensitive and classified information, following a series of unauthorized disclosures of classified information and other sensitive information to several legacy news media outlets.A memo signed by Pentagon Chief of Staff Joe Kasper asked the Director of Defense Intelligence to lead the investigation, noting that polygraph tests would take place “in accordance with applicable law and policy.”
“This investigation will commence immediately and culminate in a report to the Secretary of Defense. The report will include a complete record of unauthorized disclosures within the Department of Defense and recommendations to improve such efforts. I expect to be informed immediately if this effort results in information identifying a party responsible for an unauthorized disclosure, and that such information will be referred to the appropriate criminal law enforcement entity for criminal prosecution,” Kasper said in the memo, signed March 21.

OK, polygraphs have a use I suppose, intimidation if nothing else. Either submit to an arcane analysis of inadmissible evidence or, what? Send them to SERE?
Heh. Now there’s an idea. Evil Ed out.

FIRST again on a non WOT post. wow, holy cow
Here you go!
Might want to start in house. Group chatting Polo Step and SpeCat material on Signal? WTF!
I read that.
And I had such high expectations. Dumbassery like this is an “aw shit” that’s going to be extremely difficult to overcome. I’m assuming they’re trying to keep their conversations out of the public record, away from FOIA requests.
I imagine time will tell, but I’ve also seen it proposed that 1. they were trolling the reporter that was included in the chat, knowing that he would spread the info, specifically the displeasure with the lack of action by the EU
2 . that they could have been concerned about official platforms being compromised after 4 years of biden gave access to our enemies..
YMMV
FOIA being the law of the land I hope people don’t try to avoid being subject to it. I know what you are saying though…
With that, I totally agree! Supposedly, use of the app was approved by counsel under the Biden admin, stating that it met the record keeping requirements.. I’m no lawyer, so no idea how accurate that is, but it’s out there..
Yep this is a situation of what is good for the goose is good for the gander. I betcha all of those folks involved in the “conversation” about the strikes are busy peeling egg off of their faces right now and wondering how long they are going to be in the “woodshed” with “Dad”. I think they are living in “interesting times” right now and the FAFO pendulum is busy swinging in their direction.
Ha, I have a mirror he can look in if he likes:

I was going to say something similar.
Heh, oops. Along the lines of ‘Physician heal thyself.’
See my post above.. this is either very bad, or epic level trolling..
There’s also this official statement…

It seems Goldberg needs to provide receipts, or you can chose who you think is more trustworthy…
End result wise how much more secure and to what level is Signal compared to Hillary’s e-mail server?
If Specialist Snuffy, MSgt Smedlap, Captain Caveman, used what rouble would they get in if they inadvertantly sent it to
Cinc House
Both are glaring examples of Dumb F8cks playing in a grownup game without knowing what they are doing. This is what SCIF’s and NSA approved equipment is for.
The problem is the arrogance of elected/appointed officials thinking they are either above the law or that they know everything. It takes courage to speak truth to power and clearly their staffers didn’t tell them to leave their damn phones out of the game. Someone needs to be fired. Or resign.
Or hung by the shortest of short hairs.
Congress will be investigating him now that the word is out about him sharing TS classified information on a Google Store App.
The congressional investigation will be released in the same amount of time as the Kennedy, MLK and Epstein files took to be released. All guilty parties involved will be dead by then.
It will be a lot faster than that.
Pro tip- Don’t include reporters from the Atlantic in your top secret group chat.
The number of troops that use signal is high because it is flexible, allows you to add remove or adjust who is in the group chat with out having to restart a new chain. It does not mater what kind of phone you have. And it is free.
I’m more surprised that they added reporters to the chat at all. You should only talk to reporters in official interviews or designated Q&A’s
This is why I never talk about my time in Viet of the Nam…..
I use Signal to chat to my AF doctor pal in the Mog. Mostly I get great videos of him banging out rounds out of fun weapons. THIS is what Signal is for.
