Navy’s Transgender Policy Announced

Navy Releases Transgender Separation Policy

Sailors who identify as transgender will have until March 28 to request voluntary separation from the service, according to Navy policies released Thursday.
The Navy updated its guidance on transgender service members following the Department of Defense’s policy change that no longer allows service members diagnosed with or showing symptoms of gender dysmorphia from being in the military.
Sailors who do not identify with their sex assigned at birth must either voluntarily separate by March 28 or they will be involuntarily separated. Those who choose to separate will receive voluntary separation pay, depending on years of service, and will not have to pay back bonus or incentive pay, according to the ALNAV released Thursday afternoon. Those eligible will receive voluntary pay twice the amount of involuntary pay.
Only service members with more than six years of service, but no more than 20 years, are eligible. Those with 18 years of service, but no more than 20 years, are eligible for Temporary Early Retirement Authority, according to the ALNAV. Those with less than six years are not eligible for voluntary separation pay but will have the benefits of not needing to pay back incentive or bonus pay.
The discharges will be honorable, reads the guidance.
There are stipulations for TERA eligibility of course- odd that I took much the same offer for rather different reasons, way back when.*cough*
Waivers may be submitted as well but the process seems to entail proving a lot of negatives, so good luck with that. The estimated number of sailors affected is unstated, but the total number of active and reserve transgender service members has been reported at 4,240. So much churn for so few for no arguable reason, finally ended.

Waiting for the ” but that isn’t FAIR!” in 3…2…1… Damn sight better deal than most who leave the service get.
I’m not positive, but I think it’s better than Biden gave people who refused the vax.
Much better. This actually seems fair.
Way better than those who refused the jab.
Yup. First thing that jumped out at me.
Honorable discharge and no recoupment of any unearned bonuses / enlistment benefits.
Ditto.
4,240 is a damn site less than the 15,000 that fool was preaching the other day. And yes that is a damn good deal compared to people who didnt want untested crap shot into them.
The Good Idea Fairy is finally getting some good old-fashioned curb stomping.
Finally! Remember when there were all kinds of reasons why someone couldn’t enlist…up to including medical/mental issues? I do…so does Pepper Ridge Farms. Looks like The Cool Blaque Dood (AKA…JEF) isn’t the only one with a pen and a phone.
I too am old enough to have been asked “Are you a homosexual?” at MEPS to which a “yes” answer would be a disqualifier.
Hope you’re not traveling to the UK anytime soon. I’m sure mentioning just the concept of curb-stomping fairies is enough to sic their unarmed police on you.
A pretty damn generous policy. Take it, and be gone!
I’d also like to see a prohibition on using VA benefits to continue the charade.
I suspect that’s forthcoming.
I doubt it. Isn’t gender dysphoria a recognized psychological condition? Even if diagnosed prior to enlistment, you can bet they’ll all claim their make-believe was exacerbated by the reality of real service.
Everything is recognized in Make Believe.
Ahhhh, here comes the trolley and Lady Elaine.
I’m still confused as to the definition of “transgender” as it
applys to both military and civilian employees.
Are we talking “dick/no dick, bra w/out tits or just cross
dressing with other peoples stolen luggage?
It was never meant to make sense.
Way back in the day during the draft we had a number of guys that were wearing women’s panties during the physical part of the entrance screening! Being a country boy, I had never seen anything like that before. They were all lined up with the rest of use, and just like the movie 1,2,3,4 Marine Corp. They were just trying anything to get out of serving! Thing have changed but I still wouldn’t want them in my Foxhole.
Foxhole isn’t the only hole I’d want them to stay out of.
Phil Monkress still does that.
So does 100 percent mentally whacko, pretending to play for the other team, equate to 100 percent disabled when they get a VA rating? Let’s make sure that exactly when they snapped is well-documented.
Since they tried to pass themselves off as normal, no disability rating for them. No coming back later trying to change their tune.
All I can picture is the Blues Brothers storm drain scene where belushi is begging for his life when they do try to change the message.
Not service connected?
May I say “Oh,crap!” ?
So how does this policy impact corporate executives who identify as US Navy SEALs?

But service members who identify as turtles are still good, right?

Garbage people who joined the services for all the wrong reasons.
Fuckin be gone mothfuckers!
There is a war coming!
What about that fugly dude Rachel Levine? Oh, wait, he’s in the Coast Guard, not the Navy.
