Man shot and killed by police in Westbrook

Police officers in Westbrook shot and killed a man who they said was resisting arrest early Saturday morning.Westbrook police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence at 36 Arlington Ave. about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police Chief Sean Lally said in a news release. A 911 caller told dispatchers that a woman was inside the house and her son was hurting her.
Lally said that when officers encountered the suspect, Ryan Nichols, 37, of Westbrook — who had an active felony warrant for assault — he “resisted and assaulted the officers.” Lally did not say whether any officers were injured.
Nichols then fled to a neighboring house, where police tried to use nonlethal weapons to subdue him, Lally said. However, Nichols “armed himself with a metal object,” the release said, and advanced on the officers while ignoring their orders to stop.
Two officers, Sgt. Brian Grasser and officer Maxwell Sawyer, then shot Nichols.

One suspect dead, one arrested following New Orleans East armed robbery

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — One suspect is dead and another was arrested after being shot during a New Orleans East armed robbery.According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting happened in the 8400 block of South Interstate 10 Service Road at 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
The initial investigation revealed that at 6:54 p.m. officers were called to the scene of an armed robbery at a business in the area. Upon arrival, officers learned that the two suspects had been shot.
One suspect, 18-year-old Teony Juarez had been shot once while a juvenile suspect suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Both were taken to a hospital for treatment, where the juvenile later died.
WGNO obtained security footage of the incident.
NOPD officers said Juarez has been booked into the Orleans Parish Prison on charges of armed robbery, armed robbery with use of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
Additional charges may be added, according to NOPD officers.
Additionally, the victim is not facing charges at this time.

That Ruger LCR looks nice, but I don’t think I’d want to fire 357s through it. It looks small and light enough that I’d worry about knocking a knot on my forehead.
That’s why I load it with the .38 spl +P.

The clerk waited until he had the opportunity to get his weapon when the robber was distracted. He took care of business. The kid should not be pulling robberies, especially with a gun. He is now fully reformed. His accomplice is likely to face felony murder charges and be out of circulation for a long long time. In the video it looked like there was a customer in the store when the 2 robbers entered. The elder robber was in close proximity to them, so I wonder if he was shaking them down too.
