Thursday Terrorism
A trial is starting in France for 8 people, implicated in the beheading death of a French school teacher over Mohammed cartoons.
The trial of eight people in Paris on terrorism charges started on Monday over the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty, who was killed by an Islamic extremist after showing caricatures of Islam’s prophet to his middle school students for a lesson on freedom of expression.
Those on trial include friends of assailant Abdoullakh Anzorov who allegedly helped purchase weapons for the attack, as well as people who are accused of spreading false information online about the teacher and his class.
Anzorov was cured of his anti-social tendencies by the gendarmes on the spot, reportedly by the use of lead injections. Good job by les flics!
The attack occurred against a backdrop of protests in many Muslim countries and calls online for violence targeting France and the satirical French newspaper Charlie Hebdo. The newspaper had republished its caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad a few weeks before Paty’s death to mark the opening of the trial over deadly 2015 attacks on its newsroom by Islamic extremists.
It gets a bit confusing – seems much of the protest was triggered by the father of a 13 year old female Muslim student who complained of being excluded from the class, yet complained of the images despite not having gone and seen them?
Paty was giving a lesson mandated by the National Education Ministry on freedom of expression. He discussed the caricatures in this context, saying students who did not wish to see them could temporarily leave the classroom.
An online campaign against Paty snowballed, and 11 days after the lesson, Anzorov attacked the teacher with a knife as he walked home, and displayed the teacher’s head on social media. Police later shot Anzorov as he advanced towards them armed.AP
“Military intelligence” “cherry tart” …these famous oxymorons can be joined by “peaceful Muslim protest”.
And in Greece, a self-curing problem.
The Greeks say they are seeing younger terrorist groups forming. Last week on Halloween, a man misassembling a bomb prematurely, and right quickly, arranged his passage across the River Styx.
The Oct. 31 blast gutted a third-floor apartment in the central Ambelokipi neighborhood, killing a 36-year-old man believed to have been assembling an explosive device. A 33-year-old woman was severely injured and remains hospitalized under police guard. A 31-year-old male suspect surrendered to authorities.
“It was a monstrous bomb with concentrated explosive material,” Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrisochoidis told private Skai television. “It would have caused great destruction, because it was very powerful.” The apartment block has been declared uninhabitable due to blast damage.
Chrisochoidis said those allegedly involved were young people who appeared to aspire to become a new generation of domestic terrorists in Greece.
A third person has since been arrested, and searches have turned up a few handguns, masks, electronic devices (presumably cell phones – pity they weren’t Hezbollah pagers) presumably to be used in future attacks.
“I think we are dealing with an attempt of some young people who are aiming to become a third generation of terrorism in Greece,” Chrisochoidis said.
The intended target and timing of the planned attack remain under investigation. All three suspects – as well as the man killed in the blast – are Greek nationals. AP II
Children, children… once again a movie line comes to mind: “You ought to find another line of work – this one sure doesn’t fit your pistol.”

I always enjoy hearing about “Wile E. Coyote Bombers”, the ones who blow themselves to confetti while no one else gets hurt.
We had one in Iraq. He was still laying out the IED when our patrol came by and his triggerman decided to go for it. We think the IED was pointed straight up in the air at the time because the next thing you know this guy is in pieces everywhere, in a big cloud of pink mist in the sky and I do mean everywhere. Some of him was on surrounding roofs, in the streets, like everywhere. Our IA jundee spotted the triggerman right away and dog piled him. Lots of mess but no one (that mattered) hurt.
Off topic: When does the Commissar come in to take his beating?
He is radio silent. Probably planning the next mostly peaceful riot. He himself has been on here saying how he knows who these clowns are, not a good look if the feds finally start doing their jobs.
Terrorists come in all shapes, sizes, and with all manner of beliefs, but of course the elephant in the room for the past 45-plus years is radical Islam. Any “religion of peace” that finds it necessary to commit violent acts to enforce its harsh laws and/or standards is hardly a religion of peace.
I won’t delve too deep on this topic, as it’s obviously a serious issue that too many people try to cover up, but I will share a story I probably shared on TAH over a decade ago. My recruiting company was on the verge of getting a new CO just after the Fort Hood shooting. The incoming commander was a converted Muslim, and we happened to have some Chaplain pamphlets in the office with a Muslim on the cover with his name blanked out. Of course, I inked in Hasan on the nametape and put one on a buddy’s desk. I was out of the office when the new CO walked in and discovered the altered picture, but my understanding is that he was not amused. He was a decent enough sort, but his wife and he would have the company conduct “training” on awareness of Islamic culture and beliefs, and he definitely seemed whipped by his Black Muslim wife (he was Black as well, but she had a Nation of Islam vibe about her, and especially loved targeting the White NCOs over our peers).
Yeah, you were wrong, but it’s funny as hell and 99.9% of us here would’ve done exactly the same thing!
Ohhh I did worse, much worse.
Do tell. We’re listening…..
I would have done something like that or even more satirical, given the chance.
“Thursday Terrorism”? Did I miss a day?
Always good to read about members of The Religion of Peace go meet their Maker in pieces.
One has to wonder how many of these types we have laying low in our AO?
Originally written for Thursday and screwed up the date. Now I gotta come up with another column…
The Religion of Peace? Yeah, right:
As for the Crusades being demonized, Christian military conquest was the exception and not the rule. Whereas, Islam has conquest as part of it’s doctrine:
In conclusion, Christianity is not only the true faith of peace, but it is actually a true faith when compared to Islam:
I hope that this bomber was able to pass on to his young children his bomb making abilities. May they be as successful as their father!
