Man stabbed by Popeyes employee in apparent self-defense after argument over food order: Police
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A 28-year-old man is in the hospital after a Popeyes employee stabbed him in what police are calling self-defense. Police say it began as an argument with an employee over the man’s food order.
It happened just before midnight on Tuesday at the Popeyes in the 6000 block of North Broad Street in Philadelphia’s Logan section.
Officials said there were roughly eight employees in the store at the time.
The man got into an argument with the employees over his food order and it escalated into a physical fight, according to police. That’s when one of the employees stabbed the customer in alleged self-defense.
“The 28-year-old customer had some sort of dispute with employees over a food order and began attacking and assaulting one of the employees,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small with the Philadelphia Police Department. “Other employees intervened and tried to push this 28-year-old out — back out from the front door. That’s when the 34-year-old employee getting assaulted and attacked pulled a knife and stabbed the 28-year-old.”
The man was stabbed multiple times in the torso and head. He tried to run off after the stabbing but police said they were able to follow a blood trail to a nearby house, where he was taken into custody.
He is being held at the hospital in stable condition.
The employee remained on scene and is cooperating with detectives.

So far, police said the Popeyes employee is not being charged.

Prosecutors decline charges in fatal Friday stabbing, saying they can’t prove it wasn’t self-defense
Morgan Reddekopp
The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office has declined to charge the suspect in a fatal Friday stabbing in St. Paul, a spokesperson confirmed. He added that the Attorney’s Office “cannot prove that [redacted] was not acting in self-defense beyond a reasonable doubt based on the evidence as presented by law enforcement.”
As previously reported, 35-year-old Derameo Q. Johnson was killed in the stabbing.
St. Paul officers responded to a report of a stabbing on the 200 block of East 7th Street around 5:23 p.m. on Friday.
The suspect and Johnson got into a fight inside the store directly before the stabbing. The suspect stayed at the scene and was initially arrested for manslaughter.

I think I’m seeing a theme in today’s FGS…..sharp, pointy, edged……can’t put my finger on it……
Well done, Popeye’s employee.
As I said in yesterday’s Marcos FGS, never fuck with a chef in his own kitchen, he knows where the knives are. Even if he’s carrying one.
Is this a new chapter in the 3″ three ring loose leaf binder of T2NB2AGF? No guns involved, but. ….bringing a knife to a food fight? Wadda ya think?
“We can’t prove it WASN’T self defense…..” Yep. Make sure yours is the only story told to the po-po.
I second the motion for a sub-section to the T2NB2AGF.
The Gerber Baby (Baby Gerber?) approves your comment. Olive Oyl had no comment, and Wimpy was at Wendy’s…looking to get a hamburger that he could pay for on Tuesday.
“Derameo Q…”? Claw Daddy, you up?
One would think that after all what JMcC went thru as a POW, he would do everything he could as a Kongress Kritter to AVOID more war.
Still have my Gerber 06 I was issued in 2007 in Iraq. It’s a helluva a knife, near unbreakable.
I have a Gerber Gator Serrater (First Issue) with that rubbery grip (early-mid 90s?). I need to sharpen it, and start carrying it again.
I can understand the urge to beat a chicken “restaurant” (that term only applies loosely to fast food places like Popeyes) employee from time to time.
Popeyes used to be good, the quality of the food started declining many years ago. They cook the chicken in large batches and then put it under a heat lamp. After an hour or so under the lamp, it starts to resemble something akin to chicken jerky.
With the prices charged these days, I expect to at least get something edible. I wonder what the shelf life of dehydrated chicken is? Something that could be stored for survival food maybe? But I digress.
The solution I chose is: don’t go to Popeyes any more. I used to love their spicy chicken but it’s just gotten intolerable so I haven’t been for years.
When I want spicy chicken, I just make it myself. I save money, I get better food, and I (usually) don’t get stabbed.
PopEyes is no longer an American owned company, so I have read. The quality is not there and the prices are obscene.
Too bad, back in 70s/80s they had really good chicken and sides.
I agree 100%. I stopped at one the other day for the first time in years. A chicken dinner was $20, which I threw most of out because it was nasty. Used to be good eating on post.
