And another one’s gone (Updated)

| December 3, 2009

The word out on the street is that another combat veteran member of IVAW quit recently. Jesse Hamilton, who has been through This Ain’t Hell a few times (especially on this post about the Army Experience Center protest).

Hamilton says that the IVAW leadership was too slow to act on Carl Webb, so he’s out of there. I think it’s pretty unfair of IVAW to boot Carl Webb and then ban Casey Porter for life for supporting the conclusion that the Board finally arrived at this week.

Oh, and by the way, not only did the board boot Webb and ban Porter, they also voted to give this guy a letter of reprimand. So they had to balance out their exile of Carl Webb with two other punishments. Good for them.

Oh, before I forget; Someone emailed me yesterday about Matthis Chiroux’ arrest at West Point the other day. He broke his leg the same weekend that I did, but I’ve been off crutches since July. Apparently, he was still leaning on his crutches Tuesday night when he was arrested and reports are that he was fake-limping while the cops hauled him off to make himself a more sympathetic figure. What a pussy drama queen.

If anyone can get into his Facebook account (he won’t friend me), send me some screen shots – I hear his whining is hilarious.

ADDED: Someone sent me a picture of Limp Dick’s arrest – put down your drinks;

IVAW is like the UN of veteran groups…they issue meaningless edicts that no one gives a shit about, everyone mostly ignores them, and if asked what they do, no one can say for certain.

NYC Veteran

Matthis has now clearly emerged as “The Face of IVAW”. A frustrated artist and poet who served during a war with dubious “front line” credentials who went on to join a radical organization and quickly rose to pre-eminence through attrition and putsch. Spooky?

TSO

Wonder if that little bitch already hired a lawyer to go on a police brutality claim? Let’s hope it is Branum, Matthis will end up with 5-10 in federal pound you in the ass prison.

B Woodman

Couldn’t have happened to a “nicer” a**hole.
Too bad he didn’t break the other leg as well.
Maybe he should break his voice. Or at least give US a break from listening to his whining.

Brown Neck Gaitor

Just so I am clear:

Party A breaks IVAW policies by advocating killing soldiers. Board knows and does nothing.

Party B interviews Party A re: policy and advocating position.

Party C posts like to Party B’s interview of Party A on IVAW.

IVAW Board reprimands messanger (Party C), bans Interviewer (Party B) for life and bans creator of S* storm (Party A) at least until this issue goes away.

Did they also send an apology letter to Party A?

TSO

The weirdest part is that we got a letter of commendation from then as well BNG. It was all very odd.

TSO, can you get out here for the 12th? I think “LaB” should make an appearance.

TSO

LOL I wish I could bud. I may have to break out that “disguise” again at some point. Man that was fun.

Brown Neck Gaitor

I think it might be fun.

Casey J Porter

I’m not upset about being banned. Once again, I thought it was really funny.

Carl Webb

Damn! I’m still getting the right wing nut to quit.

Casey J Porter

Hey Carl, are you going to add yourself in the tally of people you got kicked out? lol

OldTrooper

Ya know, Carl, having you call someone a “rightwing nut” really doesn’t mean much when you’re left of Mao on the scale. Anyone to the right of Lenin is considered a “rightwing nut” in your eyes.

UpNorth

OldTrooper, Karl really isn’t that left wing, he’s just a leech. If someone has a couch, he’ll be be anything he thinks they want him to be. Wait, that makes him a whore. My apologies to leeches everywhere.

Jesse

Carl – if you’re implying that I’m a “right wing nut,” you are mistaken. Also, “you” didn’t get me to “quit.” I left the organization because I felt as if the Board of Directors has not acted prudently in dealing with a number of issues, and that IVAW has lost touch with its original goals.

freebirdnavybrat

Jesse: You’re obviously a reasonable, rational and thoughtful person. Definitely way too good for the current IVAW. I wish you all the best.

Jesse

Freebird: Thanks, although I don’t consider myself too good for anything at all, haha. I like how you phrased your comment though – “the current IVAW.” An anti-war veteran’s organization has to focus on just that – stopping the war(s) they consider to be unethical/pointless. Once an organization strays from their original purpose, they stand a good chance of losing what was once their base, especially if they adopt radical positions. Unfortunately in our current political environment, groups have a tendency to migrate heavily left or right, leaving little room for the moderate population.
