Joint Chiefs of Staff-Matter of time before NATO trainers sent to Ukraine

| May 18, 2024

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown, said that it was a matter of time before we see NATO military trainers in Ukraine. This claim comes from the New York Times. Ukrainian officials have reached out to their NATO counterparts with a request to train 150,000 new recruits. They want this training to occur closer to the front lines so that they could quickly be deployed after training is complete. According to Brown, that decision to send trainers is coming closer.

From Fox News:

However, the move to deploy trainers could draw the U.S. and Europe more directly into Russia’s war with Ukraine. U.S. leaders have said they will not put U.S. troops on the ground in Ukraine and have urged NATO allies not to do so either.

Brown said that such a move now would put NATO trainers at risk and would most likely mean deciding whether to use precious air defenses to protect the trainers — instead of critical Ukrainian infrastructure near the battlefield, the New York Times reports.

An attack on trainers could force the U.S. to honor its NATO obligations under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, thereby dragging it into war.

Former President Eisenhower sent U.S. advisors to train forces in South Vietnam in 1956 as he was worried about the spread of communism. The U.S. got incrementally sucked into military operations in Vietnam with former President Kennedy deploying 12,000 U.S. military advisors stationed in Vietnam by 1962.

Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., tells Fox News Digital that deploying military trainers would lead to a wider war in the region.

“Play stupid games win stupid prizes. This escalation will not make one American’s life better and will drag us closer to the brink of global conflict,” Crane, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, said in a statement.

The way I see it, Zelenskyy’s government is trying to goad NATO and, most importantly, the US into direct involvement in their war. Conducting military training close to the front lines benefits who? Well, of course it benefits Ukraine, as they’ll have tens of thousands of additional troops close to the fighting. Even while those troops are being trained, they are still numbers on or near the battlefield, and once they are deemed to be ready, they’ll be ready to push forward however many miles to engage the enemy. Makes sense for Ukraine.

NATO trainers, though, will be exposed to the constant threat of attack from Russian forces. It sounds like the recruits are being used as bait. Russia can either look the other way and deal with 10s of 1000s of additional troops in the coming months, or they can be proactive in dealing with 10s of 1000s of raw recruits at the risk of incurring the wrath of NATO.

Given the obligations NATO nations have to support each other, no non-NATO country–especially one involved in a protracted war–should receive any support that places NATO forces at risk. If this happens, even if Russia plays it safe and stays hands off with the training units, I would not be surprised if Ukraine has plans to ensure that NATO gets more heavily involved. It would be a shame if a “Russian” operation inflicted casualties on NATO trainers, ultimately pulling the US into direct conflict with Russia.

More aid and outside military forces will be needed for Ukraine to win.

I can tell you one guy with two thumbs that won’t be there.

Quick prediction…
The O-Biden Regime will pull the plug on this war sometime around Christmas to try claim a “win” for a war they started. Knowing full well that a Trump Administration will get the deal done, and done quickly.

Kennedy called them “advisors” to help “train” the Vietnamese too…wonder how this will end?

President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neande

I was thinking the same.
This was how our involvement in Vietnam started……first the trainers and advisors……

Zelensky just wants foreign forces to provide air defense coverage from NATO territory now, thst’s all. Then that’ll include air sorties…

1. Train them on what? NATO and America have not won a war in 60 years.

2. They will be targeted. The Pentagon knows this.

3. Zelensky’s term ends May 20th. He has canceled elections, arrests opposition leadership, bans opposition parties, seized all media, tortues/kills Americans and jails anyone who dissents. You are going to fight, and die, for a corrupt tyrant.

5JC

Which Americans have been tortured?

5JC

The only Americans I am tracking as being tortured with tortured by Russians during the invasion and held for several months.

So please fill us in and then I have some follow-on questions about most of your statements.

Zelensky is also shutting down churches throughout Ukraine.

Not exactly very “democratic” of him, is it?

5JC

Nope.

The parliament shut down the Russian Headquartered church for subversive activities.

So far as the mosque goes the leader of the mosque called for his followers to join the Russian side. This make them a party to the conflict.

Not sure if you are aware but the telegram is a Putin new source. The guy running it “committed suicide” last month after being too critical of Putin and the war effort. Which seems to be an all too common tragedy of Putin critics. In fact the number of dead bodies leave HRC in the dust. At least he didn’t “murder his family” first. That is the option they get when they over step. Kill yourself or Putin’s thugs come kill you and wipe out your family too and make it look like you did it.

RCAF-CHAIRBORNE

That’s about as democratic as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Most empty headed Leftys forget that there is absolutely ZERO tradition of democracy in the region. That’s why it has worked so well since 1991.

What was that thing that guy said about what happens when you don’t study history…

Twenty years of having US trainers in Afghanistan didn’t seem to do much good. Perhaps Ukraine would do better having other countries supplying trainers.

Mmmm let’s see, I unfortunately predict that the politicians and bureaucrats who have NO skin whatever in this game will be demanding Command and Control over everything via satellite giving instructions like “Mmmmmm now, if someone points a bangy-thing at you, just call US for permission to do anything, we don’t want things to get poopy if you know what I mean, mmmmmkay?”

I pray very hard that my prediction is wrong.

I pray too brother, but I’m afraid that you are spot on! Funny that the majority doesn’t see what we see coming!

I guess free shit and all!!!!

1956 a few years after Korean war ended. Sending advisors to stop communism made sense. What eventually took hold in Vietnam was micromanagement by politicians. That fucked ip everything. In Ukraine it appears so far that Ukraine is calling the shots. That could change with additional advisors and trainers. The Russians are unpredictable with Putin trying to rebuild a Soviet Union. Putin is a savvy character and ruthless, willing to kill anyone or escalate if it makes a bargaining chip. Especially against Biden.

Of course we will have to fight the Russians in Ukraine! Ukraine, One of the most corrupt governments in the world! There are a lot of politicians that are making money from this war. We can’t let them lose a $, even if it’s at the cost of an American life(or thousands/millions)!

I have 2 of 5 sons hell bent on military service to follow dad’s footsteps. Dad is trying to tell them not “no”—— HELL NO!!

I love my kids more than politicians love their money! Now that’s hard to believe!

Imagine a micro nuclear cluster bomb. Each weighing 1 oz with the energy of a 500 pounder. Just my imagination of course.
