San Antonio Shooting Ruled Self-Defense After Initial Misidentification

by Sean Holt
SAN ANTONIO, TX – In a twist of events, two men previously arrested for a shooting on the city’s South side have been released after an investigation concluded that they acted in self-defense. The incident, which took place at the intersection of Roosevelt and Kirkpatrick on Saturday, May 11th around 1:27 PM, initially implicated the duo as aggressors.

Local new reported that upon police arrival at the scene, they found a 55-year-old man who claimed he had been the target of an unprovoked shooting by a 26-year-old man and his companion. The older man, who was unharmed, had identified the younger men shortly after the incident, leading to their arrest.

However, as the investigation unfolded, evidence surfaced that painted a different picture. It was discovered that the alleged victim had actually instigated the confrontation by attacking the 26-year-old and his associate with a crowbar. The response of the younger men, involving the discharge of a firearm, was deemed an act of self-defense by authorities.

Crowbars can be very useful- just not in a gun fight.

Caution.

I’ll have to comb through he records of T2NB2AGF and see if there’s any mention of “crowbar to a gun fight”.
It’s getting more difficult to find anything new to add to the 3 ring, 3″ loose leaf binder set. I think we’ve picked all the low hanging fruit.

Watched the Amazon guy ahout “welcome to the jungle” and get killed next to HomeBuys (I’ll admit, when I first watched the video yesterday, I thought it said “HomeBoys”. The supervisor got lucky. It was very disturbing watching the initial security video of the suspect placing the gun at the guy’s head and pulling the trigger.

One day I’ll get back to owning more of the guns that probably put me on a watch list in the ’90s, and the FAL is pretty up there. I didn’t have the most, the best, or the coolest guns back then, but for a kid in my late-teens and early twenties I was doing alright. I had my Bushmaster XM177E2S (fugly post-ban with A2 stock and 16″ heavy barrel w/o bayo lug or flash hider), NHM-90, and Century Arms HK91 and FN-FAL (the latter built on a Brazilian IMBEL parts kit), along with a couple of SKS’ to include the omnipresent “Bubba-ized” detachable mag version. My detachable mag SKS was made complete by the Zytel magazine with a cracked floorplate which liked to give a different definition to “mag dump”.

The HK91 had some issues, but the FAL was nice. I found mags for $5 each and had about 20 of them. For better or worse, I got into reenacting and Mausers had basically dried up in the Central VA market. I met a guy at a gun show who was a collector and ended up trading him the FAL for two Kar98ks, a G24(t) and an M39 Finnish Nagant.

Ya know, fm2176, those of us that have been keeping up sometimes have issues determining when you have crossed the line from mere bragging about your collections to just downright gloating. There is an undercurrent of envy, pea green, sprinkled with a few DAAAYYUUUMS! We are humbled by your accomplishments. Keep collecting…and gloating. *grin*

“…dead at the scene with a single gunshot wound.” Shot placement or proper caliber? Both do count.

Best use for a crowbar is to put it in your wallet, pry your money out then go buy more guns, ammo, and long term food stuffs. Oh…and Class VI Supplies.

Class VI makes good barter supplies during SHTF times.

I wish I still had those. I spent years without a single evil rifle, just my Mausers, Enfields, Mosin-Nagants, and so on that likely have kills to their name. Oh, and the Carcano I’ve yet to fire. 6.5 Carcano and en bloc clips are available but expensive.

The FAL was traded. The HK91 sold to a friend. The upper for the Bushmaster sold, and then later the lower sold to the same friend that bought the HK. The MAK-90 traded for an SKS, Kel-Tec P11, and a gun that would make my Hi-Point and Lorcin green with envy–a Jennings J22.

But yeah, guns, ammo, booze, and long shelf-life food are all better investments than video games and car accessories.
