Sheriff says 2nd Sanford bar shooter may have fired in self-defense
SANFORD, Fla. — The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a shooting at a Sanford bar and grill early Sunday that left 10 people injured, including Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell.
The shooting occurred at a private event held Saturday night at Cabana Live, dubbed the “Nobody Leaves Sober Pool Party,” Sheriff Dennis Lemma said during a news conference Monday afternoon.
A 16-year-old male is accused of firing a 9mm handgun after a physical altercation broke out during the event.
The teen faces four charges related to the shooting, including one count of attempted murder, according to Lemma.
During Monday’s news conference, Lemma released additional details about a second shooter from across the room, who he said may have returned fire in self-defense. Investigators are still working to identify that person and determine his or her involvement in the “shootout,” Lemma said. The sheriff noted that the second gunfire came from a 45-caliber handgun.

Lemma praised the quick actions from a security guard who tackled the teen shooting suspect, saying he “acted heroically,” and that “he literally tackled the guy from behind.”

Anyone else seeing something wrong with this picture?!
Obviously the problem is that those in attendance did not wait thirty minutes after eating before going swimming.
Meanwhile, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, the local students are getting a jump on the Summer Mayhem.

Concur with Homer.
Dunno about the laws there, but “Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor” would be an option in the DA’s quiver here in Texas.
Unless the teen was pissed that he WASN’T invited/allowed into the private event.
Then the DA’s got nothing on the event organizers.
Attempted murder? That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it? The gun did the shooting, and the victim here is the 16-year-old who was being groomed by the blood thirsty 9mm. As for how a 16-year-old got into a bar, that’s simple: he flashed his ID from the hospital, security confirmed that he was Dr. Howser, and they completely forgot to check his date of birth. After all, how many 16-year-old doctors are there? His mom went on record to state that he’s been accepted to Yale Law School next year, but that the stress of 20-hour days at the hospital must have caused him to have made an error in judgement this one time.
On a more serious note, “Nobody Leaves Sober Pool Party” seems like a brave event to host. Unless the bar had an extremely strict transportation plan (no attendees permitted to drive themselves to the event, all keys turned in at door, drop-off only, pre-arranged Uber/Lyft/taxi service, etc.), I’d think the bar would potentially be liable for anything bad that happened afterwards. Back in 2012, a Bryan County, GA deputy was killed by a drunk driver who was on her way home from Savannah: Deputy killed in morning crash – Bryan County News. To paraphrase Rick James, “[alcohol] is a hell of a drug”. The young lady that killed the deputy made the decision to imbibe in excess before getting behind the wheel, and the bar wasn’t at fault. Had the Savannah bar advertised a “You’re Leaving Sh*t-Faced or Not at All Night”, I’m sure there’d have been at the least some civil suits.
Oh, and gun talk…
.475 Linebaugh seems like one of those niche cartridges that guys like me (not into reloading…yet) wonder “why?”. I was thinking yesterday about how I like reassuring recoil but can do without “ouch” levels. My .44 Magnum feels good, as do my 12 gauges and single shot .45-70. Not stuff I’d want to put hundreds of rounds through at a time, but just enough of a reminder that they can do some serious damage. .44 Mag is expensive enough. Moving up to .454 Casull, .460 S&W, .480 Ruger, or .500 S&W is not in my thought process at the moment. If I decide to go pistol hunting, .44 Mag will take down about anything reasonable.
Of course, the biggest downside to niche and wildcat cartridges is the lack of ammunition availability and the expense if you can find it. I last paid $70 for a box of .44 Mag, or $1.40 a round. I can shoot cheap 9mm target ammo at $0.40 a round all day. I may get into reloading eventually (bringing up more headaches like primer/powder availability and such), but until then I’ll stick to my mainstream gun calibers.
Leader of anti-Taliban resistance in Asscrackistan says terrorist attack (i.e., like 9/11) in U.S. and/or Europe is coming, matter of “when” not “if”:

Should we be surprised? I’m no scholar in Islamic extremism and terrorism, but 9/11 was predated by numerous smaller attacks from the 1980s forward. The 1993 WTC bombing and USS Cole being two of them.
In 2001 we had an unproven new President, who’d won a highly contested election against a previous Vice President, both of whom came from established political families. H.W. had overseen the defeat of Iraq in Desert Storm, but the interim decade saw us led by a Clinton who seemed a bit less willing to fully engage our military in reaction to attacks on American soil and/or challenges to our foreign interests. When G.W. took over, things were ripe for a blow to America. Back then, we banded together. Now, could we do such a thing again, given the divisiveness and ignorance of so many young and Leftist Americans?
In six months, we revisit territory that has rarely been seen in American history: a former President vying for the office against the current incumbent. Off the top of my head, Cleveland was the only one to successfully pull this off, while (Teddy) Roosevelt unsuccessfully ran for a third term four years after his presidency. If Trump wins, an attack on our soil will be a challenge to arms, which I’m sure that we’ll promptly counter with a bit of “proportionality”; if Biden wins, an attack on our soil will be a statement that America is truly weak, even while it guarantees that Biden and company get to send our sons and daughters overseas for another endless war while enriching themselves.
