Odds and Sods II
Yet another thing we have to thank Mexico for. There is so much we have already – the crimes we are told they don’t commit, the welcoming conduit they provide for OTHER illegal immigrants, the 67,000+ fentanyl deaths in 2021 alone, the local drug gangs: regrettable as they are, they aren’t just disgusting.
This is.
The Tijuana River – which has been classified as an impaired water body, according to the U.S. Clean Water Act — flows north for 120 miles from Mexico to California before reaching the Pacific Ocean on the U.S. side of the border in the Imperial Beach, San Ysidro and Coronado coastal areas.
Over the last five years, 100 billion gallons of untreated sewage, industrial waste and urban runoff have been dumped into the Tijuana River, according to the International Boundary and Water Commission.
Tuesday marks the 805th day Imperial Beach has been closed due to the ongoing sewage issue, according to Aguirre, but the health risks are affecting residents far from the shore. (809 as of today – ed.)
Untreated sewage pollutants originating in Mexico and not properly treated at the International Wastewater Treatment Plant include human and livestock diseases, pathogens carrying antibiotic-resistant genes, and industrial chemicals not permitted to be discharged in California, according to the report.
Doctors Kimberly and Matt Dickson, a married couple who run South Bay Urgent Care in Imperial Beach, told ABC News that amid the February storms they have seen a 200 to 300 percent increase in patients with gastrointestinal illness, with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. ABC News
Read that number again – 100,000,000 gallons. Nice. Wonder how much we fund into that wastewater treatment plant above and beyond the $600,000,000?
You would think throwing $6/gallon at it would help? Heck, you can buy that reverse-osmosis filtered stuff for a fraction of that.
And we finally get to a national level feel-good story. The bad news… not our nation.
Finland is not happy with Russian saber-rattling. Russia keeps doing nasty things in the region (hardly surprising, remember they’ve invaded many of their neighbors for years. Crimea in the 1850s? Poland? Germany?) The Finns are taking a proactive stance, as they seem to do.
Finland is planning to open up new shooting ranges to meet a surge in demand following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to Finnish public broadcaster Yle in a Tuesday report.
Finland — which shares an 830-mile-long border with Russia — joined NATO in April amid concerns over national security after Moscow invaded Ukraine nearly two years ago.
Finns have been becoming more interested in national defense since the Ukraine war started, with training days among national defense enthusiasts doubling since the war started, according to Yle. More Finns have also been applying for gun licenses, the broadcaster added.
There are about 670 shooting ranges for civilians in Finland — down from over 2,000 before the year 2000. The Finnish government plans to boost the number to about 1,000 by 2030, per Yle. Business Insider
They perceive a threat and up the number of practice ranges by 50%. (Our government only perceives an enemy if they can make money from it and is trying to shut down ranges/dealers as fast as possible.)
Makes you understand why a relatively tiny country like Finland fought Russia’s army to a draw in 1940…and showed Hitler that Russia could be beaten.

Not just Hispanic Illegal Aliens coming across the US-Mexico border, a LOT OF Chinese have been apprehended, what’s the real story behind that, and JUST how much in bribes are the politicians in DC taking via donations and shell corporations to keep allowing that shit?
Not just Chinese. Russian, Haitian, Cuban, all over the flocking place. Once word got out it was open borders you couldn’t beat them off with a stick, not that anyone is trying to. They just run right past border patrol agents into a waiting van.
David I Think you meant 100,000,000,000 not 100,000,000. Don’t worry you can still be president.
Finland has always appreciated a love of firearms. Their ownership rate has consistently been higher than the US the last 80 years or so, one of only a few countries to do so. Yet for some reason; no crime. I wonder if crime isn’t actually caused by guns? I know that sounds crazy but maybe?
I’m going to guess that the low crime rate is due to them lacking specific demographics that are responsible for the VAST majority of crime in this country… but I’m sure that belief is racist…
Billion, not millions..sloppy on my part. You are correct.
Yeah, funny how those Chinese immigrants that come across the border don’t look like immigrants! I wouldn’t be surprised even if they weren’t persecuted in their homeland, but are actually sent here by their homeland. Anyone want to bet where they end up? Maybe working on a piece of property that China has bought!? Stockpiling guns?…don’t worry its not a pre-invasion, they are just worried about all the negative attitudes towards immigrants that don’t speak the language.
Shades of Red Dawn…
Wolverines!
Why would they be covering their faces when running through the border? It isn’t like anyway was going to get a warrant on them. Only people with things to hide, hide their faces.
Reported on “The Five” this evening, that China is not taking back most of the “immigrants” we deport. Hmm.
Seems to me they used to send agents to this country to bring people BACK who had “defected” to the west [that is; had escaped from China to freedom].
Suddenly they seem to be okay with citizens leaving home, and illegally crossing into the U.S. of A.
The Finns were good troops, but being fair, most of the gear the Soviets were using in that war, and most of their troops, were of pretty shoddy quality.
And, after a heroic winter defense, the Finns were absolutely crushed.
The Russians paid dearly but absolutely routed the Finns.
Dear indeed. In the Winter War and Continuation War Russia took five times the number of casualties and 10 times the equipment losses.
All true. And the Soviets still won. Nobody cares about who loses a war…even if they did it very “efficiently.”
Also, Stalin was so horrified by the massive losses that reforms were started to drastically improve the Red Army.
Hitler thought because the Red Army did so badly that Barbarossa would be a pushover and be completed in a few months.
So, big picture, if the Finns were defeated quickly or had just surrendered, the USSR might have been quickly defeated in 1941.
Russian Reorganization had zero positive effects unless Stalin had a weather machine in his basement. Barbarossa was a complete catastrophe for the Soviets. They again lost 4-5:1 in men and 10:1 in equipment. The Germans captured 5 million soldiers (eventually starving most of them to death due to lack of supplies, although many were straight up murdered), more soldiers than in the entire US and UK militaries at the time.
The only thing that kept Moscow from being captured was Hitler himself and the weather. Hitler ordered a halt when he found out how large the Russian Army actually was (The Germans were attacking at a 6:1 disadvantage). The snow and rain then destroyed the roads and caused the complete collapse of German Logistics. This caused the Germans to pause their attack again which gave the Russians time to get Siberian reinforcements into place and dig in defenses of the city.
The Russians lost 21,000 air craft and 20,000 tanks more than in the entire inventory of all axis powers at the time, combined. The difference of course being that they could afford it.
Had they lost Moscow and Leningrad (both near things) Russia would have been knocked out of the war and Germany wins. So it is a good thing that Hitler was stupid and the weather was bad.
Blah…blah…blah…
And then the Red Army occupied Berlin.
That’s the “beauty” of war. It destroys all bullsh!t excuses.
It’s hard to feel sorry for Finland.
70 years of neutrality and peace.
Now, after joining NATO because a crazy marxist female Prime Minister thought it was a good idea…
They got problems. Well, no sh!t.
And, BTW, they spend barely 2% of GDP of defense. Tell me you think America will pay for everything without telling me.
The Mexicans are just polluting the rivers that American won’t pollute.
The Finns have up close and personal memories of what the Russkies can/will do and are doing what ever they can to…Prepare
We have a huge, multinational, invading army, just waiting to be unleashed inside our borders. No one is taxing their citizens to send $ to us, and no one is coming to save us. It WILL be up to each individual to defend themselves and their families from the coming storm.
California is concerned with foreign poop, but the domestic variety is a-ok?
Forgive me, but that seems sorta raysis.
……
Good luck, Finlandia. ‘Shoot, move, communicate’ better than those who’d dare rule you and:

If the fins want to civilians to help defeat the Russians, they should be opening drone racing courses all over the country.
Inexpensive commercial drones like the Mavic have completely revolutionize warfare.
FPV drones are seen routinely attacking individual soldiers in trenches.
Tanks and armored vehicles have to open their hatches at some point.
There are literally hundreds of videos of drones dropping grenades, mortar shells and RPG war heads into the open hatches of tanks.
Any time troops group together they are vulnerable to attack by drones, or for the drone operator using a cell phone to report the position and have it attacked by artillery.
Drones have completely revolutionized warfare, and the Russians seem completely unable to respond.
If Finland really wants their population to resist theRussians, they should try to set up a strong drone racing culture.
