Valentine’s love letters – Wednesday Snippets

Lots of very interesting quotes running around recently.

The District Attorney  for Washington, DC, Brian Schwalb, raised some eyebrows at a recent conference on the crime rate increases in DC.

“We as a city and a community need to be much more focused on prevention and surrounding young people and their families with resources if we want to be safer in the long run,” Shwalb said in a viral clip from Fox 5. “We cannot prosecute and arrest our way out of it.”  Fox News

After receiving loads of negative feedback, his office tried walking it back, saying arrest and prosecution was not the sole path, and we need to raise kids right and give them plenty to do. How about you arrest a few thousand first? Re-fund the police?  In the back of my mind I keep hearing “I’m depraved on accounta I’m deprived!”

Michelle O’Neill, Northern Ireland’s new First Minister (aka the Minister from Sinn Fein/IRA) says Hamas will need to become a partner in peace.

“Do you think that Hamas, although regarded as a terror organization by many people around the world, is going to eventually have to be a partner for peace?”

“Yes,” O’Neill said, “I think you only have to look at our own example to know how important dialogue is and that’s the only way you’re ever going to bring an end to conflict.”  Fox News II

Oddly, I agree with her. If you don’t get communications up and going, you are doomed to fight forever. Me, I think there should be a Palestinean homeland – donated by all the neighboring countries, and let Hamas, Hezbollah etc. know that  if one bullet, rocket or mortar round is fired into Israel, they will be wiped out and the fields sown with salt. Y’all play nice.

Then there is the fella speaking all too clearly in South Africa:

Julius Malema, head of the Economic Freedom Fighters, who likes to lead rallies chanting “Kill the Boer, kill the white farmer.” In a 2018 interview he went on record with:

Malema: I can’t tell you what’s going to happen in the future. I’m saying to you, we’re not called for the killing of white people, at least for now. I can’t guarantee the future.

Interviewer: You’d understand somebody watching that, especially as it gets shared on Twitter, they freak out. It sounds like a genocidal call.

Malema: Crybabies. Crybabies. I’m not calling for the slaughter of white people, at least for now. I can’t give a guarantee of the future, especially when things are going the way they are.

Like in Zimbabwe, he talks about confiscating white-owned lands. We know how poorly THAT worked out. This is someone poised to take over the country and targeting 50% of the white owned land by the end of next year. Whites make up less than 10% of RSA’s population (although according to Malema, they are the reason why RSA has problems, he says.

Coupla observations: The Houthis are making shippers’ lives miserable, right? So they have to use the Cape of Good Hope route…well, the Republic of South Africa owns the bottom tip of Africa.   Also remember that prior to the Zimbabwe land takeovers, Zimbabwe was one of the biggest food producers on the continent.  Now, they are mired in depression – and famine.  American Thinker oped

Can’t remember which author – possibly Michener or Larry Bond? who said fifty years ago “You go to Rhodesia to see the ruins of Zimbabwe. Now you will go to Zimbabwe to see the ruins of Rhodesia.”

Oh – for those still awake – the Houthis winged a couple of missiles at, and hit,  another ship Monday – an Iranian owned vessel. Wish I could hear the ensuing conversation. AP

Man, that’s some 24K Politician-Grade Stupid!

Old Zimbabwe was a Late Iron Age civilization that flourished and collapsed long before the Europeans explored Africa. By the time the Portuguese were exploring the African coast in their little Lateen-rigged Caravels, it was already a bunch of old ruins.
But I am sure whitey is responsible for its demise, somehow.

“We cannot prosecute and arrest our way out of it.”

I might only have a 12th grade education with advanced degrees from the School of Hard Knocks, but it would seem to me that since not prosecuting and arresting got you into this mess, prosecuting and arresting would be a great first step in getting you out of this mess. Just my thoughts.

Stupid People of The Week Thread show up early again?

I would love to see a letter sent to these idiots (stupid people) to go piss up a rope.

I went on safari in Limpopo Province SA back in 2016. It was a great time and very successful . The trackers were wonderful people and amazing at what they do. The camp help were also very friendly and helpful for the most part . Travel in the country was another matter. There was a lot of racial tension even back then and I would not go back there again. I feel bad for our outfitters and their staff. Some of them having come from Zimbabwe.

Timely.

Someone shot three police officers in DC this morning while they were trying to make an arrest. Currently the subject is barricaded in a stand off. Da madam mayor is saying it is a “love day” and we need to support the police.

There is relative peace in Ireland now. However the Crown had to give up claims and it took 150 years. The Israels have nowhere else to go.

In NYC the one of the illegals that assaulted the police and was released on no bail has shockingly been arrested again.

My new retirement plan is to embark on a life of crime in NYC. Just go to the store and take what I want since the Rule of Law no longer exists. If anyone tries to stop me I will sue their pants off. Private property laws no longer exist. That’s my stuff now.

But Comrade, it’s the surrendering of private property for the common good!

The only way Democrat mayors or DAs will do anything to reduce crime is when they themselves or a member of their family are victimized. Otherwise, they’re fine with everyone else being vulnerable.

And while I’m thinking about it: FJB

Malema is a clown.

Someone will drop him.

MustangCPT

Lord willing, but considering the trends over there, the only way I see that happening is if some ANC honchos decide to “necklace” him.

Homie da Clown?

Seems most all of Africa went back to shit once the colonial powers left..

There is a scene in an old movie, maybe it was in Good Fella’s or one of those genres where a couple of “fellas” get some karma via baseball bats.

One of the “travel guides” doubles up with two bats. Somewhere in Florida, an agricultural setting.

Biden could use such an enthusiastic epiphany and almost become worthy of New Jersey.

Such a horrible existence this life transit has been.
