Cat saves dog’s life by chasing off coyotes — see the amazing video of the rescue
Binx, an outdoor cat, didn’t hesitate to spring into action to save Oakley, a small Havenese pup
By Melissa Rudy
A Havanese pup in Edmond, Oklahoma, owes his life to the family cat — who chased off two coyotes mid-attack on Dec. 1.The dramatic rescue was captured by the family’s outdoor surveillance camera.
Lane Dyer, the homeowner, shared the footage and the remarkable story with Fox News Digital.
On the night of the incident, Dyer said he had just let the family’s small dog, Oakley, outside to do her business while he tended to two other dogs inside the house. The dog was outside only for a moment when the family heard some commotion.
“Oakley scampered in the house and ran upstairs,” Dyer said during a phone interview with Fox News Digital.
“She had been cut open on her chest and side and was bleeding profusely.”
Dyer’s wife wrapped up Oakley, put pressure on the wounds and rushed her to the emergency vet.
“We had no idea what happened,” he said.
On the ride to the vet, they pulled up the security footage and were shocked to see the attack — along with the act of bravery by their cat, Binx.
No score.

Manchester shooting death ruled self-defense, attorney general’s office says
Kirk Enstrom
A 23-year-old man will not face charges for shooting and killing another man in April in Manchester because it was done in self-defense.The attorney general’s office said the shooting happened when a stranger, later identified as Rodney Yancey, 43, walked into a Bell Street apartment belonging to Roy Nagle’s girlfriend.
Investigators said Nagle and the residents of the apartment repeatedly asked Yancey to leave, but he stayed on the porch after he was kicked off. Yancey then pulled a knife when Nagle shoved him after continuing to ask him to leave, investigators said.
Despite several warnings, investigators said Yancey continued to walk toward Nagle.

Ho hum. Knife…..gun. Like we haven’t seen this several hundred (thousand?) times already.
Not even gonna include this one in T2NB2AGF.

We all know what the cat was thinking.

The 21′ rule deals with a more or less fit subject charging an Officer with a holstered weapon. In this case they drew as soon as he started to get hostile and had time because the moron who called got in the knife guy’s way giving the Officers more time. They still waited until he got really close to open fire.
I recall the terminology used in an article I read years ago: complex psychomotor skill vs. simple motor skill. It may have been written by Mas Ayoob. Anyway, using a holstered sidearm requires identifying that deadly force is necessary, drawing the pistol, disengaging the safety (if equipped and engaged), and putting rounds on target. A person with a knife and the intent to use it needs only to close the distance and slash or stab.
Unfortunately, in today’s society, many cops just go to work without putting in the extra work or even staying too vigilant. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen a cop fixated on their phone or sitting in their patrol unit, windows down and fully focused on their laptop. I’m sure more than a few are satisfied with pistol qualification and whatever mandatory range time their department requires. Given Level 3+ retention holsters and cluttered duty belts, I’d have to commit to some amount of time conducting dry-fire drills daily. Even if only ten minutes at the end of a shift. That might help to avoid a Kim Potter situation and could mean the difference between dropping an attacker and bleeding out at their mercy.
I watched the footage of this incident a few years back. Could have turned out much worse for the officer.

Damn, those Jehovah’s Witnesses just won’t take no for an answer. Fortunately, Hack Stone enrolled in the Jehovah’s Witness Protection Program offered by All Points Logistics. For another $10,000 it offers complete coverage with zero deductible if Earth is wiped out in a meteor strike.
Dyer was in dyer straits untill his cat saved his life.
I shot the Thomson sub gun that looked like the one in the above pic, while onboard the LPH 3. I heard that the Navy at the time had Thompsons with a requested specified rate of fire for the gun…. I don’t remember if the charging handle was on top or on the side..Above pic has it on top of the receiver.
M1/M1A1 Thompson (like Tom Hanks has in Saving Private Ryan) has it on the side.
Thanks Anonymous, it looks like your pic are the Mil. Issue guns. So I must have shot the Navy issue one with the side charging handle. Now my memory is telling me that either the top or side charging handle was giving the shooters an awkaward time using one or the other so that’s why they went to the other easier one. Maybe I should try and google that.
The bolt charging handle on the earlier models was in a slot on top of the receiver. The handle had a large slot cut into it so the shooter could see through it to align the sights. I imagine this was distracting with the handle reciprocating in the shooter’s line of sight. After the Model 1928, all Thompsons had the right-side mounted bolt operating knob.
The first Thompsons adopted by the military were the M1921 Navy models, adopted by the US Navy, and a few were of course given to the Marines. They looked a lot like the M1928A1 you would have seen on Combat.
I saw the perp with the knife walking out of the apartment building on the grand concourse located in Bronx nyc. The concourse in the Bronx was the jewel of the Bronx untill Co Op City was built over the land that Freedomland was and since the Concourse was changing, the Concourse residents moved into Co Op City. The Concourse turned into a shithole after that.
Cats and dogs have weird relationships. My Lab grew up curious about cats, but as he watched the neighbors’ dogs’ behavior, he decided he doesn’t like them either. He can’t be trusted around them as he goes into attack mode (he does the same with pit bull breeds, but not other types of dogs), and will lay for hours in front of the room where the cat stays most of the time. The Cur gets along fine with the cat, and they’ve been known to cuddle with each other.
I think that generally, cats are more receptive to dogs entering a home than vice versa. The cat knows it’s king, and if it has to let the newbie know what’s up it will in a heartbeat. Then the cat wins the dog’s trust until it decides it’s time for some fun or a reminder of who’s boss. I just saw a video where a Lab was laying on its back. The cat peers over the couch and then goes straight for the testicles. Alpha dogs, being smart and no-nonsense, know that a cat entering the home is a threat. If that little creature is welcomed, it will take over the household. So, they exert dominance immediately and the responsible pet owner decides it’s not worth the risk.
As for the Thompson, my M1927A1 had a goofy 16″ barrel and a vertical foregrip. I paid maybe $1k for it new, but since this was during the AWB, it came with a 10-round stick mag and fixed stock. They’ve more than doubled in price:
Thompson 1927A-1, “Deluxe Semi-Auto” with detachable buttstock and vertical foregrip with 20 round stick magazine – Kahr Firearms Group (shopkahrfirearmsgroup.com)
Back then, 10-round stick and drum mags were all that could be purchased (thanks, Biden). Now that the 100-round “C” mag is available, you can buy one for the low-low price of $721: Parts & Accessories – Auto Ordnance – 1927 (Tommy Gun) – Magazine – Kahr Firearms Group (shopkahrfirearmsgroup.com)
I wish you all a peaceful Election Integrity Day.
I can’t help but think how better the last 3 years could have been.

Oh yeah, today does mark the anniversary of the worst day in American history, when our government was nearly toppled by White supremacists who caused the deaths of “almost ten” (https://x.com/AOC/status/1452459627187216388?s=20)
and would have done far worse than just kill AOC if they’d have gotten to her: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on January 6: ‘I didn’t think that I was just going to be killed’ | CNN Politics.
There have been some positive things in the past few years. I go to Walmart and pay 1.5-2x more than I used to. You get what you pay for, so food and household goods must be higher quality than they were under Trump. Same-same with gas and fuel. When I started driving, gas was $0.85/gallon. Cheap stuff I wouldn’t trust in anything I drove today. The $3+/gallon gas is much better refined and even has ethanol added to it. Corn is healthy for us, so it’s healthy for engines.
We’ve also made strides in creating an equitable justice system. For example, three years ago, the murderer who, with the aid of his accomplices-in-uniform, single-handedly burned down cities and looted stores throughout 2020 (Chauvin) wasn’t convicted for his crimes until after January 6th. The person solely responsible for the most violent day in world history (Trump) was not only impeached for an unprecedented second time, but also indicted for multiple crimes against humanity and removed from multiple state ballots for his egregiousness.
Today we have extremely well-made consumer products and super healthy and quality food, judging by prices. We have a free-market society where everything in the market is free, so long as you’re the right color. We have an unbiased justice system, where the petty White traffic offender will do the time instead of the violent Black felon. Best of all, we have one of the most experienced career politicians in history steering us into the iceberg.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

A model 1928 Thompson .45 ACP submachine gun sold on Gun Broker last month for $18,000. Surprisingly, there is no reported case of any of the NFA registered and licensed full auto machine guns being used in any crime.
I worry about this cat. It is an outdoor only cat and coyotes are stubborn hunters. They will keep coming back. And according to papers on coyotes that live adjacent to urban and suburban spaces they have an almost a 50% success rate when they hunt a cat.
The coyotes in the video were waiting in the tree line for an opportunity to ambush one of the family pets.
They are going to continue to lurk in that tree line now that they have identified a possible food source for them. All it takes is the cat taking a nap anywhere near the tree line.
The family needs to put a fence up and set up a few coyote warding devices.
It won’t protect the cat when it roams but it will increase its chances overall.
And it will help protect the dogs when they let them out.
