Officer fires while being pinned by car after pursuit in Delaware County; passenger killed

Beccah Hendrickson
RADNOR TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) — A woman is dead and a man is injured after a police pursuit and officer-involved shooting in Delaware County on Wednesday night.

Investigators have identified the driver who led police on the chase and then pinned an officer with his white Nissan Altima as 27-year-old Jerry Long of Devon, Pa.

The incident began around 11 p.m. Wednesday near Brookside and Ashley roads in Newtown Township.

“The vehicle initially stopped. When the officer exited his vehicle, the vehicle fled the scene,” explained Captain John Newell from Newtown Police Department.

Police say Long took off down West Chester Pike and then Bryn Mawr Avenue.

Investigators say at some point one of the tires of Long’s vehicle fell off and police got him to pull over in the 800 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue in Radnor Twp.

“The officer exited his vehicle and at that point, the suspect vehicle lurched forward,” said Newell.

Police say Long pinned the officer between the Altima and police car.

That’s when the officer pulled out his gun and started to shoot. The 28-year-old female passenger died and Long was hurt.

Radnor Township police told Action News its officers pulled over the same car Friday night for a traffic violation and the driver sped off.

Investigators also believe the vehicle may tie back to other thefts or burglaries in the county.

Nice looking Colt Delta.
Ceracoated?

Article says stainless. Photo above looks ceracoated, although Colt also had a “satin nickel” finish which looked similar.

I’m thinking that one in the top pic might be a refurb/rebuild, hence the possibility of a ceracoat.

We simply MUST pass some common sense knife and car control laws. You know….for the chill’ren.

JK, you misspelled “corrupts you”.

Kid Squid shorely knows how to bait the poor old Gun Bunny into the rabbit holes with them NRA linkys. Well played, Good Sir…Well played! “It’s no secret that I’m a long-term fan of the 1911….” Welp, not sure if I’ll become a fan of the 10mm like the author did, but it shorely is purty. Howsomeever, everybody knows that the 10mm is the FIRST (ht2 HS WOT/ht2 moi HOT) tool that is misplaced.

European-style gun control (as Hamas appreciated) had a certain purpose:

I found that Ammunition Depot has some good deals on bulk ammo.

Just in case, you know.

One can never have too much.

10mm: because they don’t make a concealable 105mm.

Remember a couple gents here suggested highly, with some foot tapping, that y’all “Prepare”?

Ammo is getting scarce, metals up bigly today, and I haven’t been to the canned goods aisle but I’d be willing to bet…

Do me/us a favor and harden yourselves. Please.
