Senators pushing $1.1 billion of military aid for Taiwan

| July 28, 2023

The proposed aid for Taiwan would be conducted similar to that provided to Ukraine. The $1.1 billion military aid would support the presidential drawdown authority, thus facilitating a transfer of weapons. Senators also want to provide funding to support Pentagon requests, to include funding for critical munitions categories.

From Military Times:

WASHINGTON ? Republicans in the Senate and House are bucking spending levels agreed upon in the debt ceiling deal earlier this year. But they’re headed in different directions.

On Thursday, Republicans on the Senate Appropriations Committee joined Democrats in pushing a plan to increase defense spending beyond the negotiated cap, advancing an $832 billion Pentagon spending bill that includes an extra $8 billion in emergency funds.

“We reached bipartisan agreement to respond to some of our nation’s pressing challenges with additional emergency appropriations,” Senate Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, D-Wash., said before the panel advanced the defense spending bill 27-1. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., was the lone “no” vote.

The move comes as House Republicans are attempting to slash nondefense spending well below the $704 billion agreed to in the debt ceiling bill, amid fervent Democratic opposition.

So far, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has resisted efforts to boost defense spending, and Republican House appropriators have kept their defense funding bills within the military spending cap — a 3.3% increase over this year in line with President Joe Biden’s budget request.

I don’t care about being the world’s police man I just don’t feel like sitting in the dark without electricity, with a car that won’t run without gas, once China controls 100% of the advanced semi-conductor production. It’s damn hot, or too cold for all that. All they have to do is take Taiwan and it is game over.

Why do you think they want it so bad? Hardly anyone alive in China today was alive and can recall when the republic split away. A 10 year old then would be 88 years old today. A billion dollars? They waste more than that studying cow farts.

And the choir that you are preaching to gives a rousing AMEN!

Do we even have any munitions left to give to Taiwan? How many years would it take to restock just what we have given away in the last year? If the Kongress Klowne Kritters thought that we couldn’t afford $5 billion for a wall to defend the border, how did we find the $ to send 10s of billions to the ‘kraine?

Good thing that Orange Man Bad wasn’t re-elected. We’d probably be at war with the russkies by now. Oh…wait…

“…adventurous abroad and despotic at home.”

Prepare.

Taiwan can afford to buy their own stuff. Put it up for sale. Then make new.

Not being able to follow the money is by design. It can’t be traced back to DC.

Ah, what the Chicoms are waiting for… We can sell Taiwan all the new hardware from our biggest defense contractors they want, but “drawdown authority” means of our existing stocks we’ll need (and have a hard time quickly replacing) if we fight China over Taiwan. Chicoms kick-off on Taiwan after delivery happens. Watch.

Well Hell, I guess that funneling money THROUGH Ukraine ain’t enough any more considering Bindenomics! Now we have to add Taiwan to keep the cash flowing!
