The U.S. Army’s Protective Services Battalion (PSB), the Department of Defense’s equivalent of the Secret Service, now monitors social media to see if anyone has posted negative comments about the country’s highest-ranking officers.
Per a report by the Intercept, the PSB’s remit includes protecting officers from “embarrassment,” in addition to more pressing threats like kidnapping and assassination.An Army procurement document from 2022 obtained by the Intercept reveals that the PSB now monitors social media for “negative sentiment” about the officers under its protection, as well as for “direct, indirect, and veiled” threats.
“This is an ongoing PSIFO/PIB” — Protective Services Field Office/Protective Intelligence Branch — “requirement to provide global protective services for senior Department of Defense (DoD) officials, adequate security in order to mitigate online threats (direct, indirect, and veiled), the identification of fraudulent accounts and positive or negative sentiment relating specifically to our senior high-risk personnel.”
Per the report, the Army intends not just to monitor platforms for “negative sentiment,” but also to pinpoint the location of posters.
I’ll leave 18 U.S. Code § 1385 – Use of Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Space Force as posse comitatus up to the legal eagles. But…
The Protective Services Battalion doesn’t need to monitor TAH/VG for negative sentiment towards the current crop of Perfumed Princex occupying the five-sided wind tunnel. All they have to do is ask.

I’m sure they are. I’ve been visiting since 2009-ish and I recall some .mil systems had the site blocked years ago. Jonn was never one to hold back about Big Army nonsense, and I can’t imagine that our current topics are fan favorites of General Wokeness and the SJW Hordes.

The military has always been filled with men and women (note: not men with woman parts or women with men parts) who place service to nation above all else–family, personal safety, quality-of-life, income, etc. Sure, some join for the benefits…there are worst ways to earn a paycheck or get some college…but those types tend not to stick around for a career. One could argue that even the most selfish “in for the bennies” type helps make our military stronger, though. Getting smarter, becoming financially stable, and learning valuable job skills adds to our overall effectiveness as a motivated fighting force.
“Gender-affirming care” has no place in the military. It will undermine the medical effectiveness of our fighting men and women by creating a destabilizing force of zims and zeys. Many of us have witnessed the stunning ability some female Soldiers have to get pregnant just in time to avoid that next deployment. Now imagine an army of men and women taking hormones and being medically undeployable due to complications from reassignment surgery.

Good, I’ll ensure I keep sharing my opinions about the over ranked and underwhelming Army Senior Leaders, and those of other branches. Here’s the thing, I can type as furiously as I want into my keyboard but one thing I won’t do is threaten anyone. Also, I worked in close proximity to a lot of them until a couple of years ago, but I now live 1000 miles away from the Pentagon and DC. If my opinions and sentiments cause some 4-Star’s fee fees to get hurt, there’s a lot wrong with them. Hell, I’m self-aware enough to admit that my couple decades of service–while honorable and always IAW Army Values–paled in comparison to that of many other Senior NCOs and officers. Milley and others have no need to worry about the ramblings of a cynical Retiree, but I guess that the PSB has to justify its existence and budget somehow.
The fact that so many current and former Service Members are calling out senior leadership is indicative of not “white rage” but rather the failings of that leadership and its tendency to appease political leaders as opposed to taking care of troops. We spent two decades following orders in places where most of us didn’t want to be, only to feel betrayed by the out-in-out drawdown in Iraq, the debacle in Afghanistan, and numerous smaller “not wars” our troops have been engaged in throughout numerous other countries.
Milley, et. al has demonstrated that even the most paper-qualified SF/Ranger GO with advanced degrees and a desire to “understand” things that have little practical use in the military, like CRT is incapable of effectively leading the military to tangible victories.
Oh, and apologies for the word salad. It’s about hot as all get out down South here, the AC at work is nonexistent, and I’m on about 3 hours of sleep. 😅

Good stuff, most aspiring young Combat Arms officers would be proud. Analyzing his uniform, you’ll notice that he wears the 101st Airborne CSIB. He commissioned in 1980 and, so far as I can tell, his only time in the 101st was as ADC as a senior COL and then BG in 2008. The T&P article linked above gloats about his service as a Brigade Commander with 10th Mountain in Iraq, so I wonder why he chooses to wear Old Abe in lieu of patches/CSIBs earned earlier on. My personal opinion is that it’s because it’s one of the most recognizable unit patches in the world. Ticket punched, earned Old Abe for Life as a 1-Star with 28 years in. Why wear something like SF, 10th MTN or any other badge he may or may not earned when he can show a link to the Band of Brothers and Bastogne? Perhaps I’m being petty and trivial, but note that he also wears the 506th Regimental Distinctive Insignia, which he became affiliated with as a Battalion Commander. A lot of Support troops love their SF combat patches but Milley has the Long Tab, so why not wear that nice combination of Curahee and Screaming Eagle?
He was once a kinda “been there, done that” sort who’s now simply a Perfumed Prince. Special Forces, Ranger, CIB x2, Combat Diver, Master Parachutist. Those are all things earned by a once-promising officer who decided that political machinations are more important than the troops themselves.
