This Whole Healthcare Thing Would be in Deep Shit If….
…there was a spoonful of integrity in the entire Congress.
This right here is getting fun, I don’t care who you are.
Pelosi is in full communist mode on the public option and is promising to stand her ground.
Speaking at a news conference in San Francisco, Pelosi told reporters that a public option will “keep insurance companies honest.”
“There’s no way I can pass a bill in the House of Representatives without a public option,” the California Democrat said, according to wire reports. “Unless someone comes up with a better idea, that’s how we’re going forth in the House.”
Pelosi reportedly added: “If someone can come up with a better idea, let them put it on the table, we haven’t heard that yet. … So we’re fighting very hard for the public option.”
This Bill has to originate in the House and the Speaker says it won’t get a floor vote without a public option.
And the President himself today Guaranteed a victory in healthcare reform.
The only problem is…
Meantime, the Senate seems likely to drop the controversial plan from any bill it proposes. Sen. Kent Conrad (D-S.D.), a key negotiator on the Finance Committee, has emphatically said there aren’t enough votes in the Senate to approve a bill with a government-run option.
“It’s very clear that there are not the votes in the United States Senate for a public option,” Conrad said Thursday on Fox Business Network.
This has the makings of some terrific political theater if all of these Dems had the honor to stand on their principals. But they don’t and never intended to. The plan was fairly simple. Start by re-naming it, pork it up a bit, cut a few more illegal deals like the White House did with the pharmaceutical industry, pork it up some more at 3:00 am and then ram it through.
At least that was the plan until the citizens rose up and pushed the criminals off their timeline and in this case the timeline is everything.
You see Democrats always claim to be falling on their swords and wind up falling in line. Even the so-called Blue Dogs (I prefer to call them card tables) talk a big game but always back up the socialists when it matters.
This time might be different. Here is why.
It is often hard to figure out what a Democrat really stands for but one thing is for sure. They all want to stay in power. And this issue has put some big Democrats in jeopardy of losing the only job most of them ever would be able to hold for more than two months. Not to mention losing the ability to make themselves and their immediate family members millionaires.
When you have heavy weights like Harry Reid and Chris Dodd in deep shit, you can count on these two clowns to do all that is possible to keep their jobs. The problem is that in order to do that Reid has to lurch right in Nevada and Dodd has to lurch left in Connecticut. Starting to see the Obama dilemma here?
We’ll see what happens but there are two things I know.
1. The Republicans absolutely must avoid falling for some bullshit re-naming exercise like co-ops or anything else.
2. The Obama White House is in full panic mode and he knows his entire presidency rides on this.
Keep the popcorn and beer handy the fun is not over.

I think this is one time–just this once!–where the (R)s are going to be smart enough (even the complete fools like the ME sisters) to sit back and let the Dems eat one another, pausing only now and again to add more A-1 to the mix.

If they need some good BBQ sauce, I’ll be happy to send ’em a case of mine, eh Jonn?
“By any means necessary” is the quote du jour for the week.
My Blue Dog Congressman just told me at a town hall meeting that if Obamacare is unconstitutional, than so is the VA.
Ironically, I’m afraid that they will give me Obamacare and then take away my VA care because it’s not needed anymore.
I am not sure this is so much a Constitutional issue, though there are arguments to be made, as much as it is a stupidity issue. Making something more cetralized and government controlled only adds to the cost. Any though that the government management is going to produce savings goes against 230+ years of experience. Particularly since the most dangerous place in DC (other than between Schumer and a TV Camera) is between government employees and the exit at 4:45 p.m.
But Dave- You forgot you were not needed already if you read the “Lebenmerte leben” brochure…aka Death Brochure put back into circulation by THe Pied Piper and supported by the shitbird Shineski.
The only safe bet for conservatives and Republicans (as opposed to SocDems & RINOs), is to vote NO NO NO on every bill that comes through Kongress this year (and next?).
Even if the bill appears safe and innocous on the surface, there’s a socialist snake hiding deep in there somewhere (example – the cash for clunkers – just another excuse to pick my pockets and give the money to someone else who didn’t earn it).
I agree Susan, I doubt much headway would ever be made on constitutional grounds. But we can make miles of headway with the argument that the government can’t run anything properly. Examples abound, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, C4C, and just about anything the government touches. The lefties keep screaming that medicare=socialism, medicaid=socialism, Social Security=socialism, so shut up already. Conveniently for them, they ignore the facts that all 3 are close to bankruptcy. And I haven’t mentioned the USPS yet.
So, no, government isn’t always the better alternative.
Just to make 1 point: the Senate can start a bill too, by stripping the guts out of a pre-existing house-approved bill and inserting whatever they like by amending it. Then they just have to have a pork conference with the House.
