This is actually true. They have a safety now, too.
Got shocked with that crap back in ’09, when I was a combat instructor at the Stumps, staffing Mojave Viper. Some kid tells me “weapon on safe” and I gave him the full Dumbass Boot stare, only to find out the Corps was updating to the M2A1 standard, and the damn thing DID have a safety on it now.
When I was a mech platoon leader, headspace and timing was one of my hated range activities.

The US isn’t at war in the Ukraine; therefore there is no reason for any USG agency to release information on the war other than what they are already doing.
However, the media coverage is there if you look for it. Numerous major media organizations (BBC, CNN, The Guardian, Al Jazzera, WaPo, Sky News, etc) have live war blogs updated with every new story or breaking item from the Ukraine in addition to their own coverage.
Numerous other agencies, bloggers, and other media types have all kinds of coverage.
BBC likely has the best English coverage with maps
throughout the conflict, videos, interviews and all kinds of video.

The biggest problem is that one party to the conflict won’t even admit that there is a war, much less provide accurate information about it. They have even started pressuring other nations to not call it a war.
