2nd Amendment steps in after cops step back in wake of defund movement in Chicago
Gun sales exploded across the country in 2020 during the pandemic’s lockdowns and when riots spread across the nation

By Emma Colton
An 80-year-old man living near Chicago’s O’Hare airport was left “??battered” late last month when two intruders knocked on his door and entered his home without permission.

The elderly man was a legal gun owner and managed to fire off a shot, hitting one intruder and sending the other running for cover.

The incident is one of dozens that have played out in the Windy City in recent years. Legally armed citizens are taking matters into their own hands, thwarting attacks and other crimes.

“It’s the reason why you’ve seen the increase in gun sales,” said John Lott, president and founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center. “Because people realize that the police and law enforcement broadly isn’t being allowed — the criminal justice system isn’t being allowed — to go and do its job.

“And the people know that they ultimately have to be responsible for protecting themselves and their families,” Lott told Fox News Digital in a recent phone interview.

Fox News Digital analyzed local media reports going back to 2020 and found there have been at least 44 incidents in which people thwarted an attack or crime with a gun who had concealed carry permits (CCW) or an FOID, an Illinois identification card used for gun possession and purchase.

There may be additional incidents that weren’t reported by the media or to local police.

Former Pentagon Police Officer Accused of Murder Testifies in Trial
David Dixon said he feared for his life when he fired his gun at a group of suspected car burglars outside his condo building in Takoma Park, Maryland

By Darcy Spencer
A former Pentagon police officer accused of murder in the shooting deaths of two men told a Montgomery County jury on Wednesday that he feared for his life.

David Dixon testified that he acted in self defense when he fired five rounds into a car in the parking lot of his Takoma Park condo building in April 2021.

“I pulled the trigger because I was in fear of my life,” Dixon testified.

Dominique Williams, James Johnson and a third man were breaking into cars when they encountered Dixon, who was off duty and out of uniform. Court testimony Monday revealed the men were stealing radios and tools and had just broken into a van in the parking lot when Dixon caught them in the act.

Dixon said in court Wednesday that he approached the car in the early morning darkness to see what they were doing and fired shots when the driver tried to run him over.

“My intention was to stop a crime in progress, to detain them,” Dixon said.

Driver dead after chase ends in shootout along Southwest Freeway near Highway 90, police say
Houston police said the driver of the car involved in the chase was shot to death after opening fire on officers.

Author: Jaime E. Galvan, Ugochi Iloka
HOUSTON — A driver was killed early Wednesday in a shootout during a standoff near the Southwest Freeway and Highway 90, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident started just after 10 p.m. Tuesday when HPD officers said they saw an assault weapon, pistol and drugs inside a parked vehicle at a Valero gas station on Synott Road near Ashford Point Drive on the west side.

“It’s not normal to have two guns left in plain view with narcotics,” Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said.

The officers set up surveillance and said they saw a man drive away in the car at 1:15 a.m. Soon after, HPD officers said they tried to pull him over, but he refused to stop and led them on a high-speed chase.

“You want to stop that suspect and find out what’s going on,” Finner said.

Part of the chase was caught on video as the driver involved sped past cameras at Dairy Ashford and Bellaire around 2 a.m. with HPD units following.

The chase ended 20 minutes later on the Southwest Freeway feeder road at Highway 90 in Sugar Land. That’s when the man barricaded himself inside the car and opened fire on officers, police said.

Finner said that’s when seven HPD officers shot back and killed the 27-year-old gunman.

Woman fiercely fights off apartment complex gym attacker: video
Suspect Xavier Thomas-Jones faces charges of sexual battery, false imprisonment and kidnapping

By Pilar Arias | Fox News
A Florida woman is talking about the frightening moments she fought off an attacker in her apartment complex gym, and the whole thing was caught on camera.

“As soon as he was approaching me, I pushed him,” Nashali Alma, 24, said in a video posted to Instagram by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. “I said, ‘Bro, what the F are you doing? Get away from me. Stop trying to touch me.’ He started chasing me around the bench, and we ended up on the other side of the gym.”

Deputies were called to the Inwood Park Apartment Complex in Tampa to investigate the assault on Jan. 22.

“I was disgusted by the suspect’s actions, how he preyed on this young woman,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “I’m grateful that she came forward, I know her story is going to be an inspiration to other women.”

Alma details in the video that she was exercising alone before she let the suspect into the gym. She told investigators she opened the door for him because he was someone she had previously seen in the gym.

As Alma continued her workout, the suspect, Xavier Thomas-Jones, 25, reportedly approached her and attempted to grab her waist. She yelled at him, demanding he get away from her, but he continued to chase her around the gym.

This man needs to get out of the office more.

Another thing that should be obvious by now is that it will be up to the Citizens to protect themselves from predators of all types…including their government that is wanting to have full control over We, The People.

Fight back, bringing any and every weapon to bear.

Musta only been 7 LEOs on duty that night, else the dirtbag woulda been shot by more.

Isn’t the 10mm the FIRST tool to get lost? Had an opportunity on evening last to share the Gospel According to HMS, JMB, (HBHN) at a Dining In. Recruited a few more miscreants for the ranks of TAH.

Yep. And I found one last year by the side of the road. Even advertized for the owner, no one showed up. I keep that 10mm socket under lock-&-key, hasn’t gotten lost yet.

I am sorely disappointed that Nashali Alma didn’t punt the scumbags family jewels into LEO.
