Think we have an O-6 record

Officials at Ft. Hood say COL. Ann Meredith, commander of the 89th MP Brigade, has been suspended pending the results of an ongoing investigation.

The suspension comes three months after her husband, Col. Jon Meredith, was fired from his command position in the 1st Cavalry Division because of another ongoing investigation.

Col. Wayne Marotto, spokesman for III Corps and Fort Hood, declined to say Monday what kind of investigation is underway. “As a matter of policy, the Army does not comment on ongoing investigations,” he said.

Lt. Gen. Sean C. Bernabe, commander of III Corps and Fort Hood, suspended Meredith on Jan. 5, Marotto said. She had been in the job since July.

Meredith has served 23 years in the Army and deployed one time each to Afghanistan and Iraq, according to her online biography. She previously served as the military police branch chief with Human Resources Command at Fort Knox, Ky., and as commander of the 97th Military Police Battalion and director of emergency services at Fort Riley, Kan.

Jon Meredith was fired in October from his position as commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division because of a loss of confidence in his judgment, Marotto said at the time.

Can’t say I can recall a husband and wife team both having this kind of issue at one time before, much less full colonels (that’s “Captains” to you nautical types). Musta been one heck of a Labor Day party.

Tip o’the old Hatlo Hat to Jeff LPH. (And if you recognize THAT, you are really, really old.)

Already saw this story in my news feed. Wonder if they will both get to retire “for the good of the service” or if they will both face UCMJ? Really makes me wonder what they both did to get shit canned like this. I doubt this is a case of simply being abusive to subordinates and creating a toxic environment. Guess we will have to wait for the next press release from the Ft Hood Public Affairs office.

Green Thumb

Probably a toxic home environment and they unfortunately took their problems to work with them.

Tough to leave them at the door and then pick them back up on the way home.

“Captain With Over 30 Years Of Navy Service Arrested on Cyberstalking Charges”

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2023/02/08/captain-over-30-years-of-navy-service-arrested-cyberstalking-charges.html

“A Navy Captain has been arrested and charged with cyberstalking a former girlfriend after, as prosecutors allege, an 18-month campaign in which he created a false digital identity of the woman and then posted sexual images of her to Facebook.”

“Capt. Theodore E. Essenfeld, 51, who has 31 years of naval service, was arrested Friday and appeared before a judge Monday on a single charge of cyberstalking — an offense that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to a press release from the Department of Justice.”

His Bio:

https://www.navsource.org/archives/10/12/1252a.htm

“CDR Theodore E. Essenfeld grew up in Great Barrington, MA and enlisted in the Navy in November 1990.”

“A graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power Program, he earned the Silver Dolphins of an Enlisted Submarine Warfare Specialist aboard USS TOPEKA (SSN 754) before being selected for commissioning.”

“He was commissioned via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in December 1998 after graduating from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.”

“As a Surface Warfare Officer, CDR Essenfeld’s sea duty assignments included Weapons Officer & Force Protection Officer aboard USS JUNEAU (LPD 10), Training Officer & Force Protection Officer aboard USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66), and Chief Engineer aboard USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43) and her “hull swap” replacement USS TORTUGA (LSD 46). Aboard USS GUARDIAN (MCM 5) he became the first Surface Warfare Officer to “fleet up” from Executive Officer to Commanding Officer.

Idiot.

And creep.

NHSparky

Fuckin nukes.
Oh, wait….

Hack Stone

Will this have any impact on his pending offer for a senior executive position at All Points Logistics?

Green Thumb

Probably not.

Phil Monkress cannot let this type of talent go to waste.

He probably already has Lori Benton spun up.

Skivvy Stacker

What is it with Fort Hood? It seems to be the Florida of the U.S. Army.

rgr769

There must be something in the water.

5JC

Can’t be. If there were Indians would be calling me every 15 minutes to sign me up for a lawsuit. Although now that I have call screening I barely notice the scammers any more.

Herbert J Messkit

I PCS’d to 1st Cav in 93, and they were blaming all the problems then on “ those gangsters from 2nd armor div that had just arrived from ft Polk.

Andy11M

I landed on Hood in early 95, got assigned to 1/9 Cav. Was told our BN had the worst alcohol incident rate in the Div/post. Our Bn CSMs driver had wrecked his own POV on post while drunk. Right before I got there some SSG had convinced the PFC she was fooling around with to kill her husband when he came home on midtour from Korea. Was told there had been a drive by on post before I got there. To top it all off, I can honestly say i spent more time in the field during my first year there than I did during the previous year I spent in Korea. Our BN regularly exceeded it’s retention goal because everyone who did re-up did so to get off of Hood.

Without knowing what the “ongoing investigations” entail, all I can say is WTF!??!? Are people being promoted above their ability level? Has Big Army forgot to teach ocifers how to be “Officers and Gentlemen(Women/Persons?)”

Bobby Lee (0 demerits at USMA) weeps.

Slow Joe

How the hell do you get to deploy only twice in the middle of two wars?

Promoted because of all the boxes she check marks and the personal connections.

Change.My.Mind.

Stacy0311

My thought too.
I had soldiers in the Guard who deployed more than that in less time.

Slow Joe

Not even IDC SARC would touch that.

I would definitely not touch that even with a 10-foot pole.
And I aint got nuthin against tall polish people.

Andy11M

I’m sure she was cute when she was a brand new O1

Ret_25X

Colonel couples being stupid is nothing new…the Ropers stealing everything not tied down is but one example.

I’m betting this is more than a drunk party at the house…

Prior Service

Probably sat at home telling each other how bad their respective units were and how they were going to have to “fix” them. Others likely assessed that as poor leadership and acted accordingly.
