San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies shoot, wound suspect in Yucaipa

Yucaipa Sheriff’s Station deputies shot and wounded a suspect after he allegedly pointed a gun at them near city hall.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials reported that at 10:24 a.m. on Saturday, deputies were flagged down by two witnesses to report a minor collision. The witnesses told the deputies that after the collision, a man exited his vehicle and began walking near the sheriff’s station, located at 34272 Yucaipa Blvd.

Deputies found the suspect near the station and city hall. Eric Friesen, 32, was armed with a handgun, deputies said.

Deputies gave Friesen several commands to drop the gun, but he refused. When the suspect pointed a gun at deputies, they shot and wounded him, sheriff’s officials said.

America Loves Guns: Over 16 Million Sold in 2022

Year-end figures from the FBI show there were over 31 million National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background checks conducted in 2022 and over 16 million guns sold.

FBI figures show nearly 31.5 million NICS checks were conducted in 2022. The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Mark Oliva noted that of those nearly 30 million background checks, 16,425,484 were for gun sales.

The 16,425,484 background checks for gun purchases make 2022 the third highest year on record of NICS checks for gun sales.

The NICS checks beyond the 16,425,484 were conducted for concealed carry permit applicants and holders in certain states.

Guns transferred or bought by concealed carry permit holders in states where permits allow individuals to forgo NICS checks at point of purchase are not included in the 16,425,484 sales figure.

If buying a firearm and using your concealed carry license in lieue of the instant check, you still have to fill out a 4473 and the license number is recorded on the form.Given that theoretically no records are kept of the background checks by law, this makes the purchase with a CHL, CCP or whatever your state calls it, as ‘recorded’; and traceable as any other.

Right, when I make a purchase, I fill out the form after giving my concealed permit to the sales person and leave out my SS #. the salesperson calls someone on the phone whom I think are the now weaponized atf to make sure everything is Jake.
