Buffalo Resident Fires Gun to Defend Store from Looter during Winter Storm

A Buffalo, N.Y., man with a firearm defended a store in the city against a looter looking to take advantage of the deadly winter storm that roared through the region over the weekend.A robber was attempting to break into Skys the Limit Hair & Beauty downtown when a crowd of angry, bundled-up residents, some holding brooms and sticks, approached the scene. One man produced a large gun and fired two shots in the general vicinity of the shop, as seen in video footage posted to Twitter.
“That was one of the neighbors that probably had business in the area,” the manager of the store “speculated” to the New York Post. “As far as I know, he shot in the air to scare them off. Because I guess he was sick of them breaking into one of the businesses across the street or something. He just don’t want them to break anything anymore.”

Man shot in Gulfport during theft of car left running in driveway, police say
Vinyai Yukondrai Rice, 19, faces carjacking and attempted felony murder charges in connection with the incident, records show.

A man tried to steal a car that was left running in the driveway of a Gulfport home on Monday evening, then shot the car owner’s father during a resulting confrontation, police said.Vinyai Yukondrai Rice, 19, faces charges of carjacking, attempted felony murder, carrying a concealed firearm and grand theft of a firearm.
Police said Rice tried to steal a car that was left running in a driveway in the1000 block of 56th Street S in Gulfport at 6:40 p.m. Monday. The car’s owner confronted Rice, who was in the front seat of the vehicle, according to court records.
Rice tried diving away, dragging the man along with him for several feet before crashing the car, police said. The man and his father pulled Rice from the car. Rice then fired a gun twice, shooting the car owner’s father, which left a laceration on the man’s upper left arm, according to court records.
The car owner’s relatives and passersby pinned Rice to the ground until police arrived.

Now that I got that out of my system, here are the following caveats:
The French military has modern military equipment of good quality.
The French military is a professional force with an NCO corps and an academy system to turn out trained officers.
The French Foreign Legion are world renowned soldiers.
Unfortunately, their military isn’t big enough to fight off a large invading force for long and their on again, off again relationship with NATO really doesn’t lend itself to being a priority to the rest of NATO. Honestly, if France was staring down an invasion from the east, it would be a result of the rest of NATO having fallen flat on their faces so there wouldn’t be any help forthcoming anyway. At that point, war becomes a matter of political will and, based on their previous performance, their senior political and military leadership don’t have the stones to make a last stand. There isn’t a Winston Churchill on their horizon. Shit, there isn’t a de Gaulle. They have Macron
No Black Jack Pershing to let LaFayette know that we have arrived either. And where’s Georgie Patton now that we need him? I would doubt that the Russkies could roll all the way to the French border and still have any fighting formations left. Between the Poles and the Krauts…? And do the Euros want to have the last 70 years of new buildings get blown all to hell?
Maybe France’s plan is to secure their border to keep all the ones running from Ivan out?
The Krauts are useless. The Poles would put up a good fight and with our help could probably stop the Russkies cold. But if we didn’t stop them, the French would be looking at a war of attrition. Do they have the will to hold out? Doubtful.
Germans are finally realizing military pacifism is an oxymoron, but they’ve done zilch militarily constructive otherwise w/o us for decades.
True, colonial stuff they’re been dealing with for years, but for big war in Europe it ain’t been since ’44 they’ve actually done stuff.
