Pre-Trump GOP is “no more”
Whether she is serious, or is just being political, Liz Cheney appears to believe that the party was hijacked and has now become a “Trump cult of personality”. It’s possible that she believes that her participation on the January 6 committee is a bid to save the Republican Party and even the country. Liz Cheney is reported to have stated that her efforts are intended to prevent Donald Trump from regaining the White House. However, the reality on the ground indicates that the Republican base has shifted towards rejecting the pre-Donald Trump Republican Party.

The Republican Party is vastly different than it was before former President Donald Trump entered the White House. Today’s political landscape doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon.
It seems clear Liz Cheney’s GOP is gone, and a futile bid to become the party’s 2024 presidential nominee isn’t likely to revert the party to its pre-Trump, Romney-esque slant.
Even if Cheney didn’t court Democrat voters in her bid to win her primary election this month, asking Democrats to switch party registration and vote for her on August 16, it’s unlikely the Wyoming rep has any chance of stopping the radical transformation of the GOP and winning over America First voters. Donald Trump transformed the Republican Party into a movement that cares more about populist and conservative social ideals than fiscal conservatism, and Cheney can’t change that.
The GOP Is Populist Now
Cheney’s platform, should she decide to run in 2024, will undoubtedly focus on reversing the changes former President Donald Trump made to the party’s platform. Among Cheney’s many criticisms of Trump is her claim that the party’s new populist economist approach constitutes “Marxism.” Cheney even compared Trump’s politics to the Chinese Communist Party in 2021.
“When you listen to Donald Trump talk now, when you hear the language he’s using now, it is essentially the same things that the Chinese Communist Party, for example, says about the United States and our democracy,” Cheney told The Axe Files podcast last year.

The GOP has changed. Because of Trump, even for the non-Trump supporting portion. He changed the rules, fought the entrenched politicians on both sides of the aisle, showed what could be done. Liz, having hardly ever actually lived in Wyoming, seriously underestimated her constituents. She’s supposed to represent THEM, they’re not supposed to bend to her will. Which is why we get what we have here today.
Trump has changed the GOP because he refuses to comply with the GOPe practice of “go along to get along” in the District of Criminals. The old GOP was happy to be the other half of the Uni-party of the DC Deep State. He is the first president in the past 70 years., other than Reagan, who was interested in making this country a better place to live for the American citizen.

Since when has the Republican Party really been fiscally conservative? The old GOPe talked a good game, but when it came to actual spending the GOPe congress-critters were just as likely to pay $800 for an aircraft toilet seat or a $400 hammer as the D-rats. Of course, part of that spending is because after a D-rat administration cuts down our military, the Republicans need to spend many billions to build it back up.

I like the Republican Party with a sound economic and energy policy that doesn’t invade other countries for no reason. I also think we don’t need drag shows in Kindergarten and pedophiles working in schools. I don’t care if they call it Nazi, Marxist or Trump Cult. I just care about what they actually do.

Republicans have needed a shake up for decades. Trump changed the party for the better. Republicans have been pussies for far too long and Trump has inspired and or shamed some of them to grow a pair. I’m still not sure they will do what’s needed if they win but at least they are talking a good game.
