Man hospitalized after police shooting at Red Roof Inn in Phoenix

Gloria Rebecca Gomez, Arizona Republic
A man is in the hospital after a police shooting at the Red Roof Inn near Interstate 17 and Bell Road on Friday.

Standing in front of the taped off hotel at a 4:15 p.m. press conference, Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Vincent Cole said the shooting happened when police were responding to an aggravated assault report.

At 11:30 a.m., Cole said police received a call from a security guard about an armed man walking a parking lot near 27th Avenue and Bell Road, close to the hotel.

The guard had approached a man who he knew was banned from the property and when the man pointed a gun at him, the guard called police. Then, the armed man walked down the road, where he met with an acquaintance, had a dispute, and “pistol-whipped” the acquaintance several times and pointed the gun to the acquaintance’s head, according to a Phoenix Police Department news release.

Officers arrived on scene when the man was already inside the hotel and used less-lethal, 40 mm projectiles on the man.

Hey, I’m all for non-lethal rounds. As long as Plan B has a good sight picture.

State Police K9 tracks down man accused of attacking 3 people at homeless encampment

Timothy Nazzaro
A State Police K9 is being commended for tracking down a man who allegedly assaulted three people at a homeless encampment on last week.

On July 7, the suspect ran into a wooded and swampy area in Revere that night while Trooper Christina Cavagnaro and her K9 partner, Thor, gave chase, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Authorities say Thor tracked the suspect through chest-high swamp water, swimming ahead of his handler to ensure the alleged perpetrator didn’t get away.

Trooper Cavagnaro along with Revere Police were able to arrest the suspect and charged with with three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Who’s a good boy? T-bones and belly rubs, Thor.

The essence of constitutionalism in a democracy is not merely to shape and condition the nature of majorities, but also to stipulate that certain things are impermissible, no matter how large and fervent a majority might want them. — George Will

Cool gun. 15 kiloton. Love the tractor.
The Davy Crockett at only 20 ton though would be more of a
neighborhood weapon.

Someone throw a bucket of cold water on KoB.

Bucket? Better get a fire hose. Between the Atomic Annie and the Bombshell Ms Thang there may be a whole lot of fapping going on. HONEY HUSH! We crawled all over Atomic Annie and ran thru some drills with her when I was at Sill for AIT. Shorely wouldn’t mind crawling all over Ms Thang and running some close order drill with her. I gots a “gun” she can put inside her pants.

Homeboi got his bell rung and his pain level prolly went thru the roof when them 40 mm “less than lethal” rounds hit him.

Thor gonna need plenty of t bones and treats to get the perp taste out. Liked how that Good Boy held the perp till the hoomans finally showed up. Had to dig to get an article that would print a pic of him. No joy on finding one of Thor and his Ms Thang Officer Handler. Those with a Fake Book account may have more luck.

Problem now, Mr. Will, is a very small but vocal MINORITY are doing things that used to be impermissable.

Pirates Cove

Nice hot-brass catcher there.

Guess I’m old…I think of 40mm in a 203 or 79. Only non lethal if I screwed up.
