That’s a pretty pistol Father George had there.
Sounds like Jacob Benson made his last mistake.
Sweet Thang there looks like she’s ready to discourage any unwelcome ex’s.
Not worth getting ill over Benson. Good riddance!
My Scot’s gggggrandpappy fought with Washington and Braddock in the F&I Wars. Named a son after George. Fought again in the Rev War then ended up in GA in 1803, winning a Rev War Land Grant Lottery. Passed in 1820.
I’ll lose my life before I lose the rest of my Liberty.
Wouldn’t mind making a flank attack on Sister Golden Hair Suprise and capturing those breastworks. Or just surrendering and becoming her POW (Prisoner of Wowser!)
“..fought with Washington and Braddock….”
Sounds like your ancestor couldn’t get along with anybody.
Yep, and this nut didn’t fall far from the tree. *grin* Prolly one reason why the more I learn about people, the more I love my dog.
If you recall from your F&I War History, Braddock was a vainglorious egotistical maniac that refused to listen to a young, upstart Colonel of Militia, Geo Washington, getting his (Braddock’s) ass handed to him near present day Pittsburg, becoming mortally wounded and suffering one of the worst defeats in British Army History. G Pappy was one of those VA Militiamen that George managed to get out of that mess. After that war, G Pappy went on into NC with D Boone, later fighting on the Colonists side under Washington and Nathaniel Greene. His descendants have worn the uniform in every generation since then. During the Great Unpleasantness of ’61-65, it was a cousin against cousin war for many of them.
