Gunman kills rival after Bronx baby shower fight then is fatally shot with his own gun by victim’s brother
Nicholas Williams, New York Daily News
A gunman killed a rival after a fight at a Bronx baby shower — only to be fatally shot with his own gun by the victim’s younger brother, cops said Sunday. The two men who wound up dead were inside a party at Webster Ave. and E. 198th St in Bedford Park when they got into a fight Saturday night, police said.
Their fight spilled out onto the street, where Arnold Oliver, 24, allegedly shot 28-year-old Jamal Smith in the face about 11 p.m., cops said. The shot man’s outraged friends then jumped the gunman, cops said.
Smith’s brother Wayne, also 28, managed to get the gunman’s weapon away from him and shot him in the chest with it, according to police.

FIRST!
“fatally shot with his own gun” Damn!, this dude missed the first point of gun control. Letting someone else use your firearm to kill you is not really productive.
While I am glad that Mr Oliver received immediate justice for his misdeed, it is shameful that a baby shower turns into Dodge City.
Back in my day, the only men attending a baby shower would be the expectant mother’s husband (people used to have children in wedlock if you can believe that), a couple simps trying to endear themselves to some female attendees, and the family’s favorite flamboyant “bachelor” cousin Bruce.
The only drama would be various females giving back-handed compliments or encouragement to one another:.
“I love your dress. My grandmother got one just like it last year.”
“Cute shoes. I know it can tricky finding shoes that fit your feet and your budget.”
“I know you can’t wait to have your own baby shower, even though you’re 34 and single.”
I’m willing to bet that intoxicants were involved in the Norfolk shooting.
No Doubt.
Yep, Tox…that or a nutjob…or both. Proly hear about him again, someday.
Carlton, maybe there were so many dudes at the baby shower cause they were trying to figure out who was the Baby Daddy? Gang Bangers gonna gang bang. A true FGS when they’re taking out one another and not some unsuspecting citizen.
The Ruger? “…the decidedly average mutt you adopted from the pound.” Hey!…I resemble that. Hand cannons rule!
A review that is just too cutesy for words. Can’t hit the target beyond 15 yards with standard sights? Learn to shoot or get glasses.
Remember the old “burger” ads when Smith and Ruger were duking it out based on frame size?

Good points here.
That baby shower story sounded familiar. Thought it was a rerun of a story a few weeks back in NYC with a similar tale of the initial assailant’s weapon being used against him, but nope, same story, different actors. Due to the crackdown on firearms being available in The Big Apple, they have to share weapons amongst themselves. Could be a whole new business model, Time Share Firearms, although rumor has it that certain people rent out weapons for limited time for people to use in their efforts to redistribute wealth.
Love love love my GP 100… 6 inch blued and can hit things 100 yds out in single action mode
Caveat: SINGLE action.
Good shootin’ Tex……errrr………….bruce.
I love my Ruger Security Six that I bought about 50 years ago. I used it to keep a bear away on an Alaskan fishing trip. It’s a great car gun and big enough to also keep other predators away too.
I heard the Ruger Security Six was the issue weapon of the Border Patrol years ago. Probably because it doubled as a club.
