Two shooters, no charges: Fatal encounter at Pilot near I-75 may have been self-defense

An Ocala man won’t be charged in connection with the shooting death of a 21-year-old man at a gas station nearly a year ago.In a memo, Assistant State Attorney Toby Hunt wrote that Sir’Hon Malic Kinsler, also 21, “would have a valid claim of self-defense at trial, and that is even assuming that the state could definitively prove he was the person that fired the fatal shot.”
Hunt also said that a second person who reportedly fired shots, Dallas Brown, “would have a valid claim of self-defense, based on these facts and the law.”
The prosecutor concluded that “it is tragic that a young man senselessly lost his life and a young woman was injured in this situation, but based on the facts and the evidence, the State is unable to disprove that the person who shot Willis did not act in self-defense. Accordingly, the State cannot prosecute Kinsler for homicide in this case.”

CCPD officer on paid leave after shooting suspect accused of attacking police with knife

Officer John Tijerina, who has been with the department since July 2019, was placed on leave after shooting a suspect who allegedly produced a knife on him and two other officers.Around 10 p.m. on Dec. 31, the officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 4100 block of Brett Street. There they were confronted by a suspect who attacked the officers with a knife, the department said in a release. Two officers were injured in the attack, and Tijerina shot the suspect.
The suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Servando Sanchez, was arrested after he was released from the hospital on Jan. 3.

Police: Death of Appleton man justified as self-defense

No charges will be recommended in the death of an Appleton man during a home break-in, police say.The department says it completed its investigation into 38-year-old Jonathan Tolley’s death.
Police say on that day they responded to the 2800 block of Newberry Street for a report of a suspicious person.
As officers were responding, they received another call from an individual saying that someone had broke into their residence. The caller reported being in a bedroom with the door locked and could hear an unknown male voice yelling in the residence.
A short time later, officers were notified that a gun was fired.

At least the State’s Attorney and DA in FL and WI (respectively) put law and common sense above political expediency in these cases. I hope – and frankly suspect – the Corpus Christi PD will do the same.
Two DAs that realize that citizens have a right to defend themselves? Must not be Soros appointed. I, too, am sure that the TX DA will see the light.

That saying, “When seconds count (etc)” applies to crooks as well as civilians. Just think, if the po-po had arrived THAT MUCH sooner, the Appleton perp might still be alive.

First article shows a verbiage issue. In coroner-speak, ‘homicide’ just means a death caused by another person (versus self inflicted, natural causes, etc.) In prosecutor-speak, homicide is a chargeable death. Would be nice if they would differentiate!
