Missouri resident wakes in the middle of home invasion, shoots burglar

Sarah Motter
A Missouri resident who awoke in the middle of a home invasion shot the person responsible before they ran from the scene.

KCTV5 reports a burglary suspect was arrested at a hospital on Wednesday after he was shot by a Missouri homeowner who awoke to the crime.

The Sedalia Police Department said the incident happened in the 600 block of E 17th St. on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

Upon arrival, officers said they found the homeowner had woken up to someone inside of their home. The suspect then came toward the homeowner who then shot the suspect once.

The suspect, identified as Daniel Schnack, 52, ran away from the house.

Portland driver threatened with sword calmly walks to trunk and gets rifle
The type of gun is unknown, but social media users believe it may be an AR-15-style weapon

By Peter Aitken
A Portland road rage incident escalated sharply when one driver realized he had brought a sword to a gunfight.

The video, caught on Twitter, shows one driver approaching the other with a sword ready to strike. The second driver gets out of his car and tells the first drive to leave, at which point the second drive goes into his trunk and retrieves what appears to be an assault rifle.

As soon as the user recording the video saw the gun, he stopped recording.

The type of gun is not known, but social media users speculated that the gun may be an AR-15, according to The Daily Mail.

The end of the encounter is unknown, but it did not appear to rise to the point of criminal action as the Portland Police Department told Fox News that it had no record of any such incident on file.

“We currently don’t have the manpower to investigate every crime being reported, so it would be unreasonable for us to expend resources to investigate possible crimes in which there is no victim or suspect information, with neither willing to be a victim by reporting the crime,” Lieutenant Nathan Sheppard explained, telling Fox News that he searched all recent reports for any mention of a sword.

While I train with Tomahawk and long blade, I don’t consider them to be “Primary Weapons”. They are more like a “Last Resort”, just short of pissing on the attacker. Bringing a sword to a fight where the opponent has yet to disclose his weapon is absolutely foolish.
And, having a sidearm handy enough to put it to work instantly, is my kind of preparation.
ALWAYS ARMED and ALWAYS READY

Interesting. That’s a second release of the venerable Browning HP (howitzer be his name) in a month. How well do the two compare?
What happened? Did a patent or copyright expire? Will there be a flood of reengineered BHPs flooding the market soon? (of greater and lesser quality)
Save those pennies and sheckels.

Afterthought: will there be accessories coming out soon for these new BHPs? I was thinking of an extended barrel with a threaded end for a suppressor.

Last article was on the original P35, although the author did swap in a couple of current MecGar 15 round magazines. MecGar makes the factory magazines and are worth it, the almost identically priced ProMags are… well, if I am faced with someone using a HiPower in a fight, I hope he is using a ProMag.
Visually, using a 15 round mag and the the ambidextrous safety are the only real MCP35 changes from Dieudonne Saive’s original design. TBH, there are so many original HiPowers out there at similar prices to the new ones that you can easily pick up an original – perhaps not FN made, but the Portugese and Argentinian models are particularly good and ex-service guns are not rare. I remember stumbling across a bunch of 50 on Gunbroker maybe 15 years ago, at $235 each. Within a few page clicks the number available dropped from 49 to around 25, I think they sold out in minutes.

Dude! 52 y.o.? At that age, don’t you have a better occupation then breaking into houses in the dead of night? (emphasis on the “dead”)

More new Browning Hi Powers to buy. Cool! 😎

Jason

I saw the video and it looks to be a shotgun. Not a black scary rifle

Old tanker

I saw the video as well and it looked like a freaking rubber bladed sword. Either that or it is in serious need of viagra.

I guess the Sedalia MO perp needed the homeowner to “Show Me” why he shouldn’t be doing a little B&E. The spirits of all the Cattle Drovers that had Sedalia MO as the end of their Texas Cattle Drives (as depicted in Rawhide) grin.

Hope y’all paid attention to the sword soi boi dance in the video. Last time I saw somebody dance that fast backwards, she was wearing high heels.

“Built on a steel frame and slide…” As God and The Most Saintly John Moses Browning (Howitzer Be His Name) intended. “…one of the most iconic pistol designs…” fapfapfapfapfapfapfapfap

This is some really high powered stupid depicted here!

Bravo Zulu to Missouri resident but word-to-the-wise: if old-enough-to-know-better Danny-boi decides he’d like to make a return engagement – squeeze don’t pull(nevertheless, makes me proud that my descendants hail from Missouri). Bringing a Sword to a gunfight? Definitely NOT mentally incisive… Love the MC P35/Browning Hi-Power-like hand-cannon. As Anonymous alludes to – World could always use a few more…

“A Missouri homeowner who awoke in the middle of a home invasion shot the person responsible before they ran away from the scene.” So both people ran away from the scene? Or did the writer mean HE ran away from the scene, but was too PC to use the correct pronoun? It gets difficult to understand modern, PC English
