Boston police officer stabbed in neck; suspect shot, killed by police

A Boston police officer was stabbed in the neck by a man who was fatally shot by another officer, the superintendent-in-chief of the police department said.

Police rushed to a triple-decker home at 27 Ingleside St. in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood around 6:15 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a domestic violence situation inside the residence.

According to authorities, the responding officers encountered the suspect on the third floor landing of the house. The suspect, a 37-year-old man, immediately assaulted them with a knife and stabbed one of them in the neck.

HCSO: Man accused of threatening residents with shotgun killed during six-hour standoff with SWAT
“There were children out playing at the time,” HCSO Maj. Susan Cotter said. “He was acting very erratic.”

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An armed suspect was shot and killed after an overnight SWAT standoff that went on for six hours in a northwest Houston neighborhood, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

HCSO Maj. Susan Cotter said officers responded to multiple calls about 6:20 p.m. Saturday about a man armed with a 12-guage shotgun in the 11700 block of Moonglow Drive. Deputies were told the suspect was walking down the street and threatening people with the weapon, she said.

“There were children out playing at the time,” Cotter said. “He was acting very erratic.”

Investigators are awaiting a toxicology report to determine whether drugs were a factor. They said it doesn’t seem the suspect fired his weapon at any residents.

According to investigators, the 34-year-old suspect barricaded himself inside a yard in front of a trailer when officers got to the scene. Cotter said he was seen going in and out of the trailer, as well as walking around the yard.

Wife Says She Shot And Killed Husband After He Beat Her

By Jeff Jones
A Deltona woman shot and killed her husband Saturday afternoon, telling sheriff’s detectives she fired in self-defense after he punched and choked her several times in their home.

Deputies responded to the shooting shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday at 2801 Bluestone Drive, Deltona, after the shooter, 47-year-old Michelle Benz (DOB 9/18/1974), reported it.

Benz’s husband, 35-year-old Kyle Benz, was pronounced deceased at the scene. (Note: Kyle Benz’s name was Kyle Gambill prior to legally changing to his wife’s last name in 2020.)

Michelle Benz cooperated in the investigation and recounted past incidents of domestic violence that she said were never reported. Today, she said, her husband choked and hit her several times in the home, leading her to pull a gun from her purse and fire at him multiple times.

Tuesday Trifecta.

Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American… The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. — Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

Ms. Benz did what was right, albeit a little late. From the 2nd beating on, he deserved what she finally gave him.

She needs to be careful with her verbage.

I can see the explanation behind the Bawstahn story now.
The dude was a vampire-in-training, and still needed to prep his meal (stabbing in the neck) instead of going directly to the jugular with his own teeth.
Wadda ya expect at oh-dark-too-damn-early, post time change, pre covefe?

I’m surprised that no one in the Texas neighborhood took out the shotgun dude themselves.

I thought that same thing. Around many places I have been in Texas, they call the coroner, not the police.

Its Houston…at one time it was the most liberal city, now second most liberal (Austin jumped over it) city in Texas. They act like any other liberal city, call the police to deal with it and then complain about the way they deal with it!

A somewhat dodgy area of Houston as well. Nice neighborhoods, nice places intermixed with severely lower class. Usedta live a few miles away, which around there could mean the other side of the Moon.

Graybeard

True, David.
And a nice neighborhood is liable to go un-nice due to the influence of the neighboring neighborhoods.

Decades ago a neighbor of mine was walking to church in the City of Bellaire (for those who are unaware, one of several “we are NOT Houston” cities entirely surrounded by Houston)
He was assaulted by a didn-do-nuffin in broad daylight and his wallet stolen.
The perp caught a bus, neighbor’s wallet was found near the UH campus – some 20+ miles away.

Houston is a good place to be from.

Nothing like a trifecta of DRTs FIRST (ht 2 Chip) Thing of a morning.

Wilted Willie grins:

When the phrase “Black is Beautiful” was coined, they musta had that Mighty Sweet Ruger in mind. Will it float? Swim? The article didn’t mention a Chainsaw Bayonet Attachment.

Thunderstixx Thunder

Where is Wilted Willie anyway. I know he was really sick, is he still with us ?
Really nice guy.
And more nice shooting in the beloved TAH Menu of Morons.

See the Smith and Wesson M & P 15 in practically every gun store I go into.
It seems to be equivalent to the Ruger 556 as an entry-level AR 15.
The Ruger 556 is better in that it has a slim line fore end with slots for vertical grip/light/etc.
Yet it’s rare to see the Ruger in stock anywhere.
Smith and Wesson is doing a hell of a job getting its products into the stores
