WASHINGTON — Shots were fired when an off-duty Metropolitan Police Department tried to stop an armed carjacking in Northwest D.C., according to police investigators.

Officers with MPD’s second district were called to the 1200 block of 28th Street Northwest just after midnight for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived on the scene they were flagged down by the off-duty officer, according to MPD Executive Assistant Chief Ashan Benedict.

In a press conference Wednesday, D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee said the off-duty officer saw two men in ski masks approach a car. The suspects allegedly demanded the car, cash and valuables from the three people inside at gunpoint.

According to the preliminary investigation of the incident, the off-duty officer intervened in an armed robbery and shot at the suspects, hitting one of them. Contee says one of the suspects shot back at the officer.

Hospital security guard run over while investigating suspicious car, fatally shoots driver
A security guard was run over by the suspect and shots were fired, police said. The suspect died. He was identified Thursday as Anthony Smith

A security guard for SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is in critical condition after being run over by a man suspected of breaking into cars.

The suspected thief is now dead and police are seeking murder charges against a woman who was with him.

The security guard worked for Cardinal Glennon’s in-house security division. Administrators said the 38-year-old guard’s family has asked for privacy and issued this statement:

“This has been a difficult day at Cardinal Glennon. We’re a tight-knit community — in many ways a family — and to have one of our own critically injured like this is upsetting. SSM Health believes in the power of prayer, and we ask the community to join us in praying for healing for our friend and colleague.”

Shotgun for the danger zone.

“Top Gun comment in….” You talking about making comments on the gun at the top of the page? I doubt if anyone would lose that loving feeling for a Maverick. Better put those thoughts on ice, man. Use of some SCUBA gear may net you a nice Maverick. It’s a real ball when they make a volley.

So close to a trifecta of DRTs for our Wilted Willy, but hey, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. And who knows, all kinds of germs in a hospital prison ward. Prayers up for the full recovery of the Security Guard.

I better get up there and get her to adopt me before “Pappy”, The Stranger, gets there and proposes to marry her. He’d go thru that dowry in less than a week.

Update >> Thursday FBS – Major capital B

Alec Baldwin tried to turn a FGS into a FBS.
He blamed the cop,
and is now getting skewered on the interwebby.

For those who missed it yesterday….
Alec Baldwin fired a gun on set,
killing a female director of photography,
and wounding the director.

[Baldwin, 63, had tweeted on Sept. 23, 2017,
about Huntington Beach police officer Eric Esparza being caught on video shooting dead Dillan Tabares, 27,
who’d punched him and reached for his gun.]

[Alec Baldwin haunted over old tweet wondering
‘how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone’]

AW1Ed,
Bingo.
Gun safety 101.
Why the hell would anyone point and pull at the staff,
even if it’s a prop gun?

It won’t take long for the finger pointing in Holy Wood.
And Alec B has a long history of finger pointing.

As commenters on the Book of the Fake
suggested last night….
IF Alec Baldwin was a GOP Trump supporter,
this would become a new skit on Saturday Night Live.

RGR 4-78

That is no accident, that is a negligent discharge.

MarineDad61

RGR 4-78,
Exactly.
Worse, Holy Wood (with MSM assist)
is already playing down the negligence,
and playing up the “prop gun” angle,
as if there are no laws and no responsibility
for those (in Holy Wood) who handle weapons.
