Coast Guard Vaccine Woes

CG Helo Rescue Swimmer hangs from rescue basket

The U.S. Coast Guard is under fire for allegedly issuing heavy handed guidance on how to acess service members’ requests for a religious exemption from the COVID vax mandate – prompting criticism that it’s conducting a “modern-day inquisition.”

Fox News reports the U.S. Coast Guard is requesting that chaplains ask the frequency those seeking a waiver attend religious services, and how consistently they “keep the tenets of their faith.”

“Ask them to be as specific as possible. Put the specifics acts (or lack thereof) in the memo,” it reads, referring to apparent memos about members’ beliefs.

This has not gone over well, specifically among Coastie Helo Rescue Swimmers. Poetrooper sends.

EXCLUSIVE: Elite Military Unit Risks Mass Exodus Over Vaccine Mandate, Retired Member Says

DYLAN HOUSMAN

One of the most exclusive units of the United States Armed Forces is at risk of facing a mass exodus over the Department of Homeland Security’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, a recently-retired member told the Daily Caller.

At least 60 of the Coast Guard’s 340 elite Aviation Survival Technicians – better known as helicopter rescue swimmers – are seeking exemptions from the vaccine mandate, retired rescue swimmer David Kroll told the Daily Caller in an exclusive interview. The Coast Guard is already short on rescue swimmers, Kroll said, and a loss of dozens more would threaten the effectiveness and stability of the force.

Kroll, a 24-year veteran of the Coast Guard who served as a rescue swimmer and trained them at the Coast Guard’s “A” school in North Carolina before retiring in July, said the Coast Guard is already at least 20-30 swimmers short of where it would like to be, and ideally would have about 380 active swimmers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two active swimmers who are seeking an exemption confirmed Kroll’s estimate of at least 60 swimmers who wish to avoid vaccination, virtually all for religious exemptions. Many active servicemembers are being told they will not receive a medical exemption unless they have had an adverse reaction to another vaccine in the past, multiple individuals have told the Daily Caller.
Kroll said that around 80% of the swimmers he’s spoken with are “hard no’s,” meaning that if they aren’t granted an exemption, they will opt to leave the force rather than comply with an order to be vaccinated. A loss of dozens of rescue swimmers could severely hamper the operational capabilities of the elite unit, which is critical in rescue operations around the United States.
Funny thing about Helo Rescue Swimmers- they have they final say if they jump or not. If safety or any other reason causes the swimmer to waive the jump, the crew will regroup and replan. If ordered to go anyway, expect a pair of wings on the skipper’s desk after the flight.
This has the same feel. Thanks, Poe.
Spoke to a friend at church today.
AT&T is forcing them to take the vaccine or be fired.
Nurses are being fired.
Container ships are not being allowed to dock & unload.
The USA is under attack from Washington DC. When is the Revolution scheduled to begin?
Graybeard, you could be kind enough to post a “spew” warning with stuff like that. 🙂
My apologies, M’Lady.
“You are NOT to Worship or follow the Words of a Supreme Being, Citizen. Unless it is WE, the grubermint, that is the supreme being you worship.”
Yep, nothing like having a shortage of critical MOSes and running off trained people.
People control at its finest. Stalin grins.
HA! Pretty much.
If it was Louis C.K the contents would be excreted into a potted plant.
‘…how consistently they “keep the tenets of their faith.”’, Buddha wept.
I thought judging a man’s faith was generally left to The Almighty, but since we wanna play this game: sounds a little sharia law-y akin to Daesh looking for heretics to crucify in the town square kinda vibe.
What’s next, cards given to the exemptees for their pastors to punch? “You let that ratio get below 80% and we’re gonna hold you down an’ stick the needle in ya buttholes!”
GFY Coast Guard. You guys were supposed to be the SANE ones!
This crap has become so absurd that even the dumbest among us should see it. As if ER’s and such were not already crazy enough, let’s make sure that nobody who saves lives anywhere on the planet is allowed to do so.
Sure. That makes sense – to NO ONE.
If the shots are so necessary: poke every immigrant (illegal or no) govt employee, SNAP and welfare recipient, and arrestee. If they won’t do that, they ain’t serious.
I got asked a similarly worded/loaded question by my employer when I put in for a religious exemption: “How do you observe your faith/keep with the tenets of said faith?”
“Well now…that’s none of YOUR business, as MY faith is between me and MY Lord. Just know that I follow scripture daily in my life, such as ‘There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent. For he will give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways’ Psalm 91:10 or ‘Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore, honor God with your body’ 1 Cor 6: 19-20. Do you need me to go on?”
“Umm….no…..we will take this under consideration…”
That was 2 months ago and I haven’t heard anything since.
Most of you know that I’m a very non-religious, non-believing heathen….
Most of you should also know I’ve no quarrel with what or how anyone believes what they believe as long as there is zero expectation I participate or that your beliefs are not something you will attempt to put into the law…
I don’t ask people what they believe, mostly because I don’t give a shit what you do or do not believe as it’s absolutely none of my damn business. Jefferson once wrote that, “It does me no harm for my neighbor to believe in 20 gods or no god at all, it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”
The same is true here, it’s none of the government’s business what you believe and how you believe it. Our constitution is designed to prevent the government from interfering in that belief.
As we grant religious exemptions for so many other things without question this would seem to fall into the same area. The deep inquiries into the nature of the belief are inappropriate to the essence of the spirit of the Constitution.
Best of luck to them in their pursuit of maintaining their religious freedom.
Since the Amish won’t participate in most modern stuff, and flat-out refused to attempt to hide from Covid, didn’t vax, and basically said “bring it!”, they must have been nearly wiped out, right?
No? Then much higher deaths, right?
No? The same as those who freaked? Maybe better, hard to say?
Herd immunity and “carry on”, in 2020? Their business is booming?
Ouch. Folks have some ‘splaining to do…
(Go look. Lol)
2,132,800 service members (AD, NG and Reserve) across all branches.
62 COVID deaths.
Maybe that has something to do with service members unwillingness to take a vaccine with unknown long term side effects.
