Off-duty officer catches burglary suspect running from neighbor’s home in Akron
Sean McDonnell
An off-duty Akron police officer chased and caught a man early Tuesday morning who is a person of interest in multiple attempted break-ins.Richard Curley, 56, of Akron, was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday near Ecton Road and Royal Avenue in Northwest Akron. Police said he broke into a nearby home’s enclosed porch and tried to get into the house.
Neighbors nearby have been posting photos of a “prowler” for weeks. Lt. Michael Miller, public information officer for Akron police, said Curley could be involved in a dozen or more attempted break-ins.
Leo Walter, who woke up to find a man on his porch, said he’s glad the suspected prowler has been caught.
“All of us in the neighborhood were aware of this gentleman who had been terrifying everybody,” said Walter, 63.
Walter said he woke up sometime after 3 a.m. Tuesday to the sound of his doorbell camera going off. It was the first time someone had attempted to get into his property, but he said he was well aware of the problem in the neighborhood.
He said he ran downstairs with his phone. Walter flipped the back lights on and planned to yell at the man if he was still there. When he called 911, he found a plainclothes officer was already chasing the man.

Armed Murder Suspect Fatally Shot By CHP Officers During standoff On 105 Freeway Transition Road In Paramount
PARAMOUNT (CBSLA) — A man with a gun was fatally shot by California Highway Patrol officers Monday following a chase and a standoff on the westbound 105 Freeway in Paramount.
A Sigalert was issued at about 9:30 a.m. for the westbound 105 transition road to the 710 Freeway in Paramount for an unknown duration due to the officer-involved shooting.
A man in a black shirt and gray pants appeared agitated and was holding a gun as he talked to CHP officers. He stood in freeway lanes near a van with its hood up and its passenger door ajar.
Sky 2 was over the scene when the man was seen raising his weapon at the officers, who returned fire. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, which is assisting in the investigation.
The LAPD later confirmed that the man killed by CHP officers Tuesday was Jesse Medrano, who they had identified as a suspect in the murder of 61-year-old Ruben Marrufo in the 400 block of East 92nd Street.

“a plainclothes officer was already chasing the man”.
Said plainclothes officer is obviously not a big (see what I did there?) fan of fried fat pills (doughnuts).
Curley was caught but where were Moe and Larry????
‘Ed,
Good score keeping today. Congratulations.
(runs, ducks, hides from thrown objects)
OK Dickgobblers,
I was going to ask BUT (and my credit card doesn’t need to know) but what’s that thingie on the end of the muzzle but I think my Google Fu found it..
Linear Muzzle Brake (Compensator?) (8 hole?)
Interesting looking thing and I like the recessed part too.
You are correct, Weed Whacker, it is a muzzle brake. For some fun, ask an anti-gunner what a muzzle brake does, and the difference between that and a flash hider.
Oh wait, it’s even *more* scary than that…I specifically found the linkie thingie that also has the depression reduction system “Add To Cart” whooohaaaa.
Even *worse*, they call it a “Blast Diverter”!!
Oh mee Oooh MY Ohhhh, someone call the BATFE whiles’t I clutch mah pearls!!

If you can handle the paperwork, and your bank account has some significant extra green, you can start collecting guns with the pricey gadget:
Giggleswitch
Heh.
So, Chippy, you think you’re needing a Blast Diverter for your gun? Better get a gun that can blast first.
