Reveille, reveille, reveille! All hands on Team TAH heave out and trice up!

Wake up Dickweeds!

Heh heh heh…

” heave out and trice up!” I had the bottom rack of a 3 racker and sometime in the middle of the night, I was asleep and next thing you know, I was triced up while in my rack but Skip in the rack in front of mine wasn’t in his rack so I had to crawl through the small opening into his rack which was down at the time. Don’t remember if he went on the beach or watch standing. Two of my fellow A Gang shipmates were half stewed and triced up my rack. I had a lot of fun wrapping friction tape on a rack combination lock and hard to unravel when you got back from the Tradewinds half shit faced. Thanks for the memories Mick.

Those racks went the way of the dodo on my ship during a major refit 1983-84, so when I got onboard, they were gone. I did see them on the USS Caloosahatchee (AO-98) when eating on their mess decks while the did so work on our mess decks.

Rats of the Kong on you EARNING (never awarded) the FIRST Post for the Labor Day Open Thread Mick. Maybe this will take some of the sting out of the news on the delay of the release of “The Movie”. Real shame you and ‘Ed have to put your plans for attending the premier showing on ice, man. Good, too, to see that you haven’t lost that loving feeling for us by showing up. You’ve been missed. Haven’t seen a real BOOM! SHACK! in awhile.

Here’s a little teaser/pacifier for y’all:

Mick

Thanks for the kind words, KoB. I’m still here lurking at TAH most days, holding overhead at max conserve and silently flying top cover for all of you earth-bound knuckleheads on Team TAH, waiting for opportunities to roll in hot on Stolen Valor phonies.

I haven’t been posting much lately, because quite frankly I can’t stand it when that fool Commissar comes in here unchecked and manages to hijack virtually every thread, and the resultant discussions inevitably degenerate into the same old shit-slinging bouts day after day after day. Everyone on Team TAH knows what Commissar is all about, and I wish that everyone here would simply ignore him. This isn’t Commissar’s milblog.

And I hate you for posting that trailer for THAT movie. — GROAN —

Hope that all is well with you and the rest of Team TAH. Semper Fidelis.

KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Shack!

KoB

“This isn’t Commissar’s Milblog.” That entire paragraph is well said and SPOT ON my Aerial Artillery Platform Operating Devil Dog. I generally ignore the spapos seagull and make a very spirited attempt to not feed that troll. I understand not wanting to censor anyone, and I think that spapos was brought to task for his uncalled for attack on OAM. Noticed he hasn’t been around much at all since then, Thank God. If we endeavour…We will Persevere.

Commissioner Wretched

Normally I don’t do this on an other-than-Weekend Open Thread, but for Labor Day, here’s the trivia column which ran that week in 2017. (Not much of a Labor Day reference, but you all might get a kick out of it. And then again, you may not.) DID YOU KNOW…? Is there really a place in the world where it is illegal to die? By Commissioner Wretched Fall is just around the corner! In fact, in just about two weeks, the summer will officially end and autumn will begin. If you’re like me, summer actually ended this past Monday, Labor Day. We all know that summer really begins in late June and ends in late September, but for all intents and purposes, it’s a little different … the unofficial start of summer is Memorial Day weekend. Gotta love those Monday holidays! So, as the fall of the year approaches, and the leaves begin to change their colors, and the air starts turning a little more crisp … we turn to trivia, an unchanging bulwark even against the seasons! (And they said I couldn’t work autumn into a trivia column lead. How little they know.) Let’s get into it, folks! Let’s “fall” into trivia! Did you know … … ancient Romans thought strawberries could cure bad breath and chronic fainting? (While I’m sure strawberries are just wonderful, they aren’t any kind of miracle cure for halitosis or passing out. In fact, in me they cause passing out … I’m allergic to them.) … when snakes are born with two heads, they fight each other for food? (Which is silly, since it all goes to the same place, right?) … it is impossible for an astronaut to belch in space? (I know, you can’t imagine why. Well, neither could I, so I checked with NASA. It’s because there’s no gravity to pull things down, and gases and liquids in the astronaut’s stomach do not separate. No separation, no belching. Doesn’t matter how good the meal was.) … the most sensitive part of your body is your lips? They are 100 times more… Read more »

What I do know is that the False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) does not observe holidays as he is probably at his desk as we speak applying for taxpayer-funded government contracts based on his nefarious and potentially criminal Native American, Law Enforcement and Navy SEAL claims.

Green Thumb

They should name a fifth Pac-Man ghost “Phildo”.

Inky, Blinky, Pinky,Clyde and Phildo.

Has a nice ring to it. And with every other sport and game expanding, Pac-Man might as well too.

SFC D

The whole concept of the game would have to change. Phildo does not eat dots. He only gobbles dicks.

Yup. I recall that pic; it was taken on a beach in Israel.

OY VEY!!!

USMC Steve

They just left all those weapons on that beach with no gear or weapon guard? Or is that what the two hotties are there for?

Frankie Cee

AHA! Gotcha. The photographer is the weapons guard. In Israel, they are about as twisted up over someone losing a firearm, as the US Infantry is. It just ain’t s’posed to happen. I am quite sure that the was a guard somewhere, if not the photographer. Those Palistinians are everwhere and would love to grab a weapons stack.

However y’all commemorate the day, may it be a good one for ya.

I am hoping this is an open thread.

Different time, different era….same heroism.

The amazing story of the only female American POW captured by the Germans in WWII.

Present-ish.

Purchased a set of 5 books, then realized my library had no place to (safely) put them.

Installed a bookshelf addition to the one in the middle of the room. It is almost full now.

All quiet in the Graybeard AO.

Fyrfighter

Hey all,

Might be a strange request, but for those that are so inclined, could ya send up prayers for our neighbors and their dog? They were visiting family out of state, and left their dog hooked to one of those overhead trolley type leads while they went hiking. They came back to find that he had gotten tangled up and strangled himself. They are understandably heartbroken, as Jack was a sweet boy.
Thank.

Frankie Cee

I am not getting here as much this week as I would like. I had come back, hoping to do a comment or three every day, but just got twisted off, doing other things. Climbing the ladder of time ain’t always easy. I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day/Weekend holiday. I am in the midst of hunting for, deciding which, my next caretakership. I have only a Social Security income, and supplement that, by paying my rent and utilities in labor as a property Security/Caretaker, or as many call it “Your Nut On Patrol” type guy. It works for me, even though I live “hand to mouth”. My next move may require me to buy another old travel trailer. I like these as a residence, sort of a “tiny house”, but somewhat portable. The one I am in is a 1993, 30 footer, and has been properly and thoroughly abused through its life. It is now bad enough off, that I am not sure it would survive another move. If it did survive, I would need to build a “roof over” structure to park it under. Seeing the druggies, users of people, and other miscreants, raise thousands of dollars on Go Fund Me accounts, has me thinking of trying that to raise enough to get another old trailer.
That my pickup got rear ended, and will likely be declared a total, right when I could really use it for towing my cargo trailers, doesn’t help either.
Life goes on, and it is what it is. I will survive.
