Wright not guilty in ‘castle doctrine’ shooting death in Texarkana
A Bowie County jury acquitted a Texarkana man of murder Friday in a case the defense argued was self-defense under the Texas “castle doctrine.”

by Lynn LaRowe
NEW BOSTON, Texas — A Bowie County jury acquitted a Texarkana man of murder Friday in a case the defense argued was self-defense under the Texas “castle doctrine.”

Kavante Lamarr Wright, 27, was also acquitted on a lesser charge of manslaughter. In his closing remarks, Texarkana lawyer Shorty Barrett argued that under Texas law, Wright had a right to shoot and kill Eric Gentry if he believed his life was in danger in his own home.

“Not all homicides are murders,” Barrett argued.

Prosecutors argued that Wright was drunk and physically aggressive toward Echo Gentry. At the time, Wright was living with Gentry and her children in an apartment in the Rosehill Ridge complex on Stuckey Street in Texarkana, Texas. Kavante Wright had invited Eric Gentry, a barber school student and his girlfriend’s twin, to come over and cut his hair, his nephews hair and Echo Gentry’s children’s hair. Eric Wright brought his first cousin, Mario Cornilius with him to the apartment.

The Stupid is strong here. Texarkana Gazette

There are those in America today who have come to depend absolutely on government for their security. And when government fails they seek to rectify that failure in the form of granting government more power. So, as government has failed to control crime and violence with the means given it by the Constitution, they seek to give it more power at the expense of the Constitution. But in doing so, in their willingness to give up their arms in the name of safety, they are really giving up their protection from what has always been the chief source of despotism—government. – Ronald Reagan 1975

But the key question remains, did the Republic of Texas award a Barber License to Eric Gentry.

If Trayvon received a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Science from Florida Memorial University, certainly Eric Gentry is worthy of a post-humous honorary occupational license?

Hell, at least Gentry could cut hair. Trayvon’s total aeronautical experience amounted to getting high, staying high, finding a place to crash and an occasional leaping lizard wrestling move thrown in, gratuitously.

Speaking, offhandedly, of professionals, Ms. Honeylamb looks like she might have had busy night, the night before.

Better let IDC Sarc “check things out” before discussing terms of engagement.

Imma on the same page and agree with all of the above Tally. Not sure if the jury got this “Wright”. Of the opinion, from more Google Foo of “Mr.” Wright that he has a systemic, thematic, systematic history of abuse…of al-key-hol AND wimmens. Wondering if the wrong person was the one ending up dead here. The defense did a hell of a job using the narrow scope of the wording in the “Castle Doctrine” of Texas Law and allowed “Mr.” Wight to literally get away with murder…or at the very least, manslaughter. If “Mr.” Wright doesn’t turn his life around, turn away from demon rum, finds Jesus, joins a choir, or start Junior College, we may see him in the news again.

In re of Ms “Honeylamb” Thang, yep…possibly rode hard and put up wet. Too bad it wasn’t me doing the hard riding…Giddy up! I ain’t skeered, after all, her rifle is only half black…and doesn’t have a chainsaw bayonet attachment.

The writing in that article is a hot mess. Echo Gentry? Eric Wright? WTF actually happened afore that reporter got involved with distorting the facts?

“Not all homicides are murders” is correct. Thinking that every homicide is a crime is wrong.

  3. i’m confused about the texas deal. who is male and who is female. was eric gentry a male or female. i don’t get it. sounds like the article was written up wrong

My read has it that Eric and Echo are twins. Wright be living with Echo and she chirruns.

Echo’s bro, Eric was gone bring some nephews, possible Eric’s chirruns, to Echo’s crib and then they cut some hair, swill some thrill and have some chill.

Alas, Wright should’a stuck wit’Natty Light before he got too lit.

That Eric left the apartment and returned, with firepower, may have been as matter of defending his sister and all dem chirruns before Kavante Lamarr took to whippin’ on anyone and everyone.

Liquor can do that with some folks.

Nothing good happens in Texarkana. Either of them.
