A school board strips holiday names for inclusivity

| June 16, 2021

A school board decided to strip holiday names from the school calendar. The purpose of the action was to be inclusive of everyone who may not identify with the stripped holidays. These days would simply be listed as “days off”. The school board claimed that this decision was based on input; however, there is a petition out calling for resignations.

From Human Events:

Holidays including Thanksgiving, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Christmas will be stripped from the calendar.

“I don’t think really it is the board’s responsibility to be naming these holidays. Either take them off or just adopt whatever the federal and state governments are doing,” board member Ronald Conti said.

The board claimed that they made the decision to remove holiday names after receiving feedback from the community. However, as of Monday morning, over 2,400 people signed a petition calling for the board and the district’s superintendent, Jennifer Fano, to resign.

“Jen Fano and all of the Board of Education have disgraced our community and clearly do not have the best interests of our children in anything they do,” the petition states. “They represent everything that is wrong in education today and are completely incompetent in every aspect of their role.”

The petitions goal is 2,500 signatures.

    And so it continues. Just as the beach is eroded by the waves, thus the destruction of American Traditions continues, unabated. Now that Juneteenth is set to become a Federal Holiday, will it be designated as “Day Off in June”?

    This school board is not the only one that does not have the best interests of the children in mind…or the wishes of the parents. Did y’all see the news blip of the school in Noo Yawk that showed videos of white women being tarred and feathered? Approved by the school board!

    But what about Saint Crispian Day?

    WESTMORLAND. O that we now had here
    But one ten thousand of those men in England
    That do no work to-day!

    KING. What’s he that wishes so?
    My cousin, Westmorland? No, my fair cousin;
    If we are mark’d to die, we are enough
    To do our country loss; and if to live,
    The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
    God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
    By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
    Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
    It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
    Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
    But if it be a sin to covet honour,
    I am the most offending soul alive.
    No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
    God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour
    As one man more methinks would share from me
    For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
    Rather proclaim it, Westmorland, through my host,
    That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
    Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
    And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
    We would not die in that man’s company
    That fears his fellowship to die with us.
    This day is call’d the feast of Crispian.
    He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
    Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam’d,
    And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
    He that shall live this day, and see old age,
    Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
    And say “To-morrow is Saint Crispian.”
    Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
    And say “These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.”
    Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
    But he’ll remember, with advantages,
    What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
    Familiar in his mouth as household words—
    Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
    Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester—
    Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.
    This story shall the good man teach his son;
    And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
    From this day to the ending of the world,
    But we in it shall be rememberèd—
    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
    For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
    Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
    This day shall gentle his condition;
    And gentlemen in England now a-bed
    Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
    And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
    That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

      That’s “racist” now, comrade! (Hard for Leftists to co-opt for their purposes, you know.)

      Shakespeare was a total a racist. Not only did he fail to employ any black actors he even had white people play the roles of blacks in his plays.

      We need to burn all of his works and never speak of them again.

        Not to mention a sexist… women were not allowed to act in those days.

        For Shakespeare aficianados, I highly recommend “Upstart Crow”. Not sure which streaming channel it is on.

  5. Roh-Dog says:

    If my children were subjected to the feeling-based “logic” of destroying other cultures’ holidays in common use, regardless of origin, I would put my progeny on permanent ADONSA from that institution for being wholly and contemptible illiberal a-holes.

    “…On Friday, June 5, 2020, nearly 800 residents of Randolph Township, including Mayor Christine Cary, Township Councilwoman Marie Potter and Superintendent of Schools Jennifer Fano, held a protest to honor George Floyd.”

    “According to the Randolph Reporter, they, “… raised their fists in solidarity as they approached [police] headquarters …”

    “All of this was done with the approval of the police and politicians in Randolph.”

    “Do you know what else was happening on Friday? Lt. Keith Donovan of the Randolph Police Department was mailing Jennifer Rogers two summonses for holding a peaceful protest the previous Saturday at her business, Randolph Tennis Center, to bring attention to businesses that have been suffering under Governor Murphy’s never ending state shutdown.”

    “The hypocrisy of deifying one protest organizer and filing criminal charges against another is stunning in both its audacity and unfairness.”
