‘They Took My Life’: Charges Permanently Dropped Against Woman Who Fatally Shot Ex During Attempted Rape
Dorian Geiger
A Montana judge has permanently dismissed murder charges against a domestic violence advocate who shot and killed her ex-husband during an attempted rape last year.Rachel Bellesen, 38, was cleared this week in the shooting death of her ex-husband, Jacob Glace, in a rare ruling following months of pressure from local activists.
A Sanders County judge dropped charges with prejudice against Bellesen on Tuesday, according to court documents obtained by Oxygen.com. The ruling guarantees protection from any future prosecution against Bellesen.
“It’s kind of surreal in a way,” her attorney, Lance Jasper, told Oxygen.com. “I never pictured myself ever going in and saying, ‘Wait, a dismissal is not good enough.’”

Good for the judge for dismissing w/ prejudice. Otherwise I could see the deceased ex’s family coming after the ex-frau with a civil suit, “How DARE you kill our scumbag jerk of a brother/son in self-defense!”
As for the Mini-14, I’ve heard good & bad. And for now, with weapons & ammo in short supply & high prices (but coming down), I’m not interested in one.
Pretty sure that a ruling to dismiss a criminal case with prejudice has no effect on whether a person can file a civil case.
That would be correct. A criminal acquittal does not preclude a civil case, as in the OJ case.
Prolly shoulda shot the bastard 20 years ago. I have issues with people that beat up, or force themselves onto to women…and kids.
Needs me one of them little mini 14s to persecute the tree rats that are inside the wire of Firebase Magnolia. We could throw ’em in the dumplin’ pot. Make a skillet of buttermilk cornbread and invite Graybeard. Maybe he’ll bake us an Anniversary Cake.
You damn Redlegs…always thinking bigger is better when it comes to firepower. If you shoot a squirrel with a Mini-14 in .223/5.56, the only thing left will be the feet and a few wisps of fur!🤣 Pretty slim pickings for the stew pot.
Hell, I was considering a .22 Magnum for squirrel about 20 years ago and was told THAT was too much gun.
Better bet would be a Ruger Model 77 in .22LR. Or a old Remington Mohawk 10C in the same caliber. My old man, may he Rest In Peace, sent many a rabbit and squirrel to our skillet for a nice “guisado” using that old Remmy.
Head shots Pappy. Plenty of meat left. These phuquers are YUUUGGE, and there’s an ass load of ’em…’possum sized. ‘sides that, the Mini 14 is ideal for bigger varmitts too, ‘specially the 2 legged ones.
And what’s wrong with a Ruger 10/22? That would be my choice.
Nothing at all wrong with that choice Tox, but it isn’t part of the gun pr0n for today. The mini 14 is. ‘sides, remember what Jamie told the Federales when they told him to “leave the rifle too, Boy”? “But I’ll be needing this for squirrels and sech…”? And THAT rifle was a .58 caliber. And as Pappy pointed out, “…bigger is always better when it comes to firepower.” Heh heh 😛
