Another phony Marine
Phoenix police are looking for a fraud named John W. Rodriguez who awarded himself a Silver Star and a Navy Cross. His fraud fits between Rick Duncan and Jesse MacBeth because although he doesn’t have the vast experience of 44 days in service of MacBeth, he at least took the ASVAB battery of tests once – which puts him a leg up on Duncan.
The Fox affiliate that broadcast the report, calls it a “sad case of military fraud“. The guy had uniforms and ribbons in his house when police searched it so I don’t what’s sad about it – the guy lied to a judge so he could skip town and used the military as an excuse. Rodriguez will probably be sad, though, when he meets his new husband in the hoosegow.
Oh, and it looks like the idiot pinned the miniature ribbons to his collar. If that’s the way he went to court, and they let him walk out of the courtroom, they deserve to have to look for his dumbass.

Yeah, he lied about a lot of things. He said he was an MCSO reserve. He said he used to be California Highway Patrol too. There were so many inconsistencies but you are told never to question an officer. He went to the ball in his warrant officers uniform and was around a 3 star general, but no one realized. He wore a dress uniform to a wedding recently. He would tone down his ribbons and medals when he was around us. I mean he has USMC tattoos, that’s really committing to the lie. He courtesy drilled here, even got gassed. I have heard he is trying to say he has info on people he lied to trying to bargain down his own punishment. What a jerk! It’s really crazy to know that this person was a part of our lives. He hung out with us and we never knew. Not really anyway, not for sure. I really hope he gets what’s coming to him. There are real heroes out there that deserve our appreciation. Those that have put their lives on the line so idiots like John Rodriguez can walk around decieving everyone to try and boost his own ego or whatever he was doing.
I was also decieved by john. I guess i felt sorry for the guy some of his stories were very convincing. I always had a weird feeling around this guy and now i know why. I’m upset that he is capable of getting away with this. I have family and friends that are marines and they have fought for their country. After what we discovered about jon we are all hurt. What jon did was not right! But he was there for all the phx Marines. If you need help with something, jon was there. After reading all the comments none of you know jon like we did. And what I can tell a user called “deceived” that wrote a comment on june 15 you must know jon really well. Your initials are T.K. Aren’t you the same person that would call Jon behind your husbands back and tell him about your life??? And I even understand that you tried asking jon to San Diego when the guys go to Australia! But he said “NO”. I have seen the e-mails from my space & texts you have written to him. For someone who is not a Marine at least he has standards and told the right people. We all know how you are!! Lol…how can John help take care of the comment when he is still in custody. MCSO doesn’t allow internet for the inmates. Let the two fight it out. I like to hear what “Shocked” has to say in-return. I have been reading different on-line blogs about John and his charges. The information that people have on John is wrong. His real age is not 31 and he doesn’t have 13 fraud charges against him. I called and doubled checked on him and his current charges. It sounds like some people like to make-up stories. If you think I am wrong look it up your self. I have a guy that works at MCSO as an DO that seen John multipliable times. Anyways the girl friend is home, I can hear the wipe crack!

Scott Y: The Jonn that Chris is referring to is Jonn Lilyea, the site owner, not John “the fake Marine who is now in custody”. Two different spellings, even though they sound the same, there is a huge difference; the Jonn with 2 n’s is an actual combat Vet.
After reading all this, I feel I should write something. This is for “Anonymous” of June 24th. Your right, John did have certain ideals of a Marine. But, it was part of the con. He did things, said things and made up stories that would help him in the future and futher perpetuate his facade. Also, John did not help me or my friends, in fact, he took. He still owes alot of money to them. It took over a year to get my money back. I gave him the benefit of a doubt and yes, there were many doubts. I write this from knowing John for over 2 years. I did feel like a victim in all this but after talking to his Mother, I see who the real victims are, his family. To the Phx Unit, I do feel a somewhat responsible, I did introduce him to a MSgt at a tailgate at a Cardinals game. Sorry about that.
After reading your comment, I spoke to Msgt T. He does not blame you for introduction at the football game. What the Msg T figures you are the old roommate and also attended the Marine ball. He is upset for what Jon has done and feels betrayed! But at the same time he is upset that he lost a faithful friend. And we feel the same way. What ever Jon owes to your friend he should repay. Perhaps Jon over tuned new leave when he was with the Phx unit. Like I stated before, we would ask favors from Jon and he would do so. All the Phx Marines are upset with Jon but he was NOT an user or A-hole to any of us. A couple of the spouses have spoken with the Jon’s parents about this issue. I am not sticking up for Jon, but don’t think you’re the only person Jon touched. We are ALL hurt! BUT he was a faithful friend and ALWAYS welcome to our homes, because he was there for all of us, and not just for himself.
I knew John personally. We were “friends” for a short time because he was truly a JERK. Yes, I do feel bad for his mom and his dad, but honestly all women that John knew were another victim of his con persona. We went out once, he was always looking for an easy target. Talking to every woman (usually single mom’s) how he wanted to become a father figure and play baseball with the child someday. I think he always tried to find a place to live. He tried to take advantage of people. He was very immature. He lied about his name. He owed people money ALL THE TIME. He thought that by being a marine he would get LAID. Well, he didn’t. At least not with me. The only thing that I got that was positive from meeting this loser, was making a great friendship with the special person that created this blog. For all of you that think that he was a great person. Think again. He was a user and a great actor. Maybe you were the next victim. And by the way, how much does he owe YOU?

no one has spoken to the MSgt with regard to the football game. none of the spouses KNOW your parents. we know you made bail and reply to these blogs. the Marine that made the intro, will ALWAYS be something you are not. a REAL Marine. faithful friends just don’t DO what you have done. enjoy what freedom you now posses and shut your mouth, you cannot clear your name. face the fire you have created.
I’ve just checked as of today. The dude did try to make bail but did not happen. So….who ever is writting must know him pritty well! For example: MIG12, Anonymous, decieved or even you. I agree with USMC Chris comment, “we don’t want this no be a Young And the Restless online”. So let is go. Dude is caught and will face his issues. If you people have nothing to better to do then to create drama. Get over it!!!!

So..the question should be what to do with people who straight up lie about being a Marine? I just discovered some hack delusional girl from North Bergen, NJ going around telling people she’s a lawyer and that she was in the marines. Funny thing is her own family called her out. People like this should be court marshalled, even if they’re just civilians. They’re desecrating the honor of being a USMS.
