The Stars & Stripes reports that there have been no recorded US combat deaths in Afghanistan over the past year.

US goes one year without a combat death in Afghanistan as Taliban warn against reneging on peace deal

KABUL, Afghanistan — No U.S. troops have died in combat in Afghanistan for a year as of Monday, but the Taliban have threatened to target them again if Washington opts to keep international forces in the country after a May withdrawal deadline.

Army Sgts. 1st Class Javier Gutierrez and Antonio Rodriguez were the last Americans to die in battle in Afghanistan on Feb. 8, 2020. Two other service members — Army Staff Sgt. Ian McLaughlin and Army Pfc. Miguel Villalon — were killed in combat there in January last year.

Hopefully, Gutierrez and Rodriquez will be the last.  Something to hope for, anyway.

That is good to hear. As for me, it’s about time we CSMOed (arty for pull chocks and split). I understand that with NATO there, it’s not as easy as saying, “we’re pulling out, anyone else want to come?” – even with Trump in office. But it’s time. It’s been time for a long time. Just tell those assholes that live there, “If you mess with us again, we’ll be back to blow up your stuff again. This next time we won’t stay, we’ll just ensure your trouble making capacity is minimized. Extremely minimized.”

This link is to NATO’s “placemat” that says how many folks we have there compared to the other supporting countries:
https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive/107995.htm

The most recent placemat from last June (https://www.nato.int/nato_static_fl2014/assets/pdf/2020/6/pdf/2020-06-RSM-Placemat.pdf) shows we still have over half of the troops there (8000 out of almost 16,000). Sure hope the fact that New Zealand sent a squad minus doesn’t make their country too vulnerable. Italy, Germany and Britain have decent showings with Romania (!) coming in a strong 5th place.

Word.

Great news.

Yeah, they say that if there is an active war on, the incumbent is a lock to get reelected since people don’t like to upset the command and control structure.

I hope this is not a reason to get into another conflict.

Um, great, let me just post this again in case it was missed the last 50 times I sent it…

^THIS^ Tho there have been no Combat Deaths, there has still been the spillage of American Blood and the wastage of American Treasure.

GTFO!
