Stupid criminals of the week

Once again, the KoB can lay claim to all my story tips this week. One of these days I’m just going to make him start writing this column. 😉

Florida teen charged with manslaughter after ‘accidentally’ shooting friend while acting out rap music video

An 18-year-old Florida boy who was messing around with a friend and recreating a rap music video accidentally shot and killed the other teenager, according to police.

Jonathan Batista has been charged with manslaughter with a deadly weapon for the death of Brian Shakur Meridor, 18, the Miami Herald reported Tuesday.

Batista, Meridor and a third friend were acting out the video in a Hialeah apartment on Oct. 22 when Batista “accidentally shot the victim in the chest” according to a police report obtained by the Herald.

A teenager was accidentally killed by a friend last month in Florida.

Batista told police that “he didn’t mean to shoot the victim and that the gun wasn’t supposed to work.”

It’s unclear what music video the teenagers were reenacting.

Detectives traced the gun to the owner of the apartment, 18-year-old Andres Otaiza. The gun had been stolen in December and Otaiza was charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

“We are all shaken by the tragic incident that occurred last week and our hearts go out to the family of the young man who lost his life in this horrific accident,” Batista’s defense lawyer, Eric Matheny, said in a statement to the Herald.

“Jonathan and his family offer their deepest condolences. We are prepared to address the criminal charges against him and ask that the privacy of the Batista family be respected during this very difficult time.”

Batista has been released on bail.

NJ Store Clerk Offers Free Vapes to Underage Girls in Exchange for Sexual Photos: Prosecutors

If want to get freaky with underage girls, the best course of action is obviously to wait until your father gets elected vice president and is on his way to president.

A convenience store clerk in New Jersey was arrested last week for allegedly asking underage customers to give him sexually explicit photos in exchange for free vape products, according to prosecutors.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office says Muhammad Ikram worked at Sam’s 2, a store located on Palmer Avenue within Hazlet. After receiving several reports of inappropriate behavior, police investigators found the 41-year-old clerk would also take photos of minors in the store in exchange for free merchandise.

Ikram was arrested on Oct. 28, according to prosecutors. He was charged with three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, as well as an additional charge of Selling Tobacco Products to Minors.

Anyone with more information was asked to contact Detective Nicolas Logothetis of the Hazlet Township Police Department at 732-264-0763, prosecutors said.

It’s unclear if Ikram has a representative who can speak on his behalf on the charges.

SC prison guard charged with smuggling drugs behind bars is fired, officials say

A woman who was a guard at a South Carolina prison was arrested on drug trafficking charges, among other crimes, the South Carolina Department of Corrections said Monday.

Ashley Nickole Williams was fired after she was arrested Saturday, Department of Corrections officials said in a news release.

The 33-year-old Greenwood resident was a correctional officer at McCormick Correctional Institution, according to the release.

When entering the prison on Oct. 30, Williams was searched and it was discovered she had four packages with substances that tested positive for methamphetamines, marijuana, and cocaine hidden in food containers, according to arrest warrants.

Williams was charged with trafficking meth, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, furnishing contraband to a prisoner, and misconduct in office, according to the release.

On the misconduct in office charge, Williams is accused of having “corrupt intent,” and “committing acts in violation of her good faith, honesty, and accountability of public trust as a state correctional officer,” according to the arrest warrant.

A bond hearing was scheduled for Nov. 1, and Williams is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 4, 2021, McCormick County court records show.

McCormick Correctional Institution is a high-security prison “designed primarily to house violent offenders with longer sentences, and inmates who exhibit behavioral problems,” according to the Department of Corrections. It’s about 80 miles west of Columbia.

Porn-addicted judge molested 12-year-old child with special needs, brought young boys to spend night in his office: police

A Pennsylvania judge who admits having a porn addiction sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy and routinely brought children to spend the night in his court office, authorities said Monday.

Michael Schechterly, a magisterial district judge in Perry County, is accused of molesting the special-needs victim more than eight years ago at his home, but police believe there may be other victims since the alleged perv had contact with many children in court, as part of a church program and as a former teacher.

The 58-year-old suspect initially denied groping the child, but he later admitted to touching the boy’s “groin area” at his Newport home in 2012, according to an arrest affidavit. The judge also discussed his masturbation habits during an interview with police, telling officers he regularly touched himself at the district court office, authorities said.

“When questions regarding stains on surfaces in the district court he indicated those stains would likely be his semen,” police wrote in the affidavit.

Schechterly, who was elected in 2011, appears to have used the court to victimize additional children, the investigation suggests.

Surveillance video obtained by detectives in June captured the suspect interacting with multiple children in his court office “outside of normal operating hours” despite a coronavirus lockdown that was in place at the time, police said. One of the videos showed the man holding two boys under 10 years old on his lap as one of them repeatedly tried to step off “while being prevented from doing so,” according to the affidavit.

The judge’s conduct first came under scrutiny in 2015, when police found a series of porn videos in Schechterly’s court office after learning that four boys had spent the night there, the document states. Some of the videos depicted BDSM-type sexual activity and appeared to show young girls being sexually assaulted, authorities said.

But the Perry County District Attorney’s Office chose not to press charges at the time. Police did not say what prompted that decision.

Five years later, Pennsylvania State Police reopened the case after a man who is close to the 12-year-old victim reported having suspicions about the child’s past encounters with Schechterly. The boy allegedly told the complainant that the judge “is a weird guy” who would walk around in his underwear and “was scratching his balls” when the child was at his home back in 2012.

The victim, who is now 20, confirmed to police in an interview that Schechterly did touch him inappropriately, according to the affidavit.

Authorities urged anyone with information about additional victims to call state police.

The suspect had contact with many children through a program in his church known as the “Royal Rangers,” in which he served as “Commander Mike,” prosecutors said. He also taught at two different schools for about 11 years before becoming a judge.

“Serious allegations show this judge violated the trust that the citizens of Perry County placed in him by sexually abusing a little boy,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a statement.

Schechterly is charged with unlawful contact with children, corruption of minors and indecent assault.

If true, they should bury him under the prison.

Car with snowmobile on roof stopped in Wisconsin

This is the only story I came across without getting a tip off from 5th/77th (aka KoB).

How not to transport a snowmobile safely.

For anybody unsure of how to transport a snowmobile, putting it on the roof of a vehicle isn’t a good way.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said a Minnesota-registered vehicle was stopped Sunday on U.S. Highway 63 in Polk County for driving with a snowmobile strapped onto its roof.

The department urged anyone hauing equipment like a snowmobile this winter to safely do so by securing it on a trailer or in a truck.

Last, but certainly not least, we have this gem. I wonder if Commissioner Wretched has any statistics on this particular phenomenon, because I’ve heard similar stories to this.

Dog accidentally shoots owner in the leg, police say

A dog accidentally fired a gun into its owner’s leg recently, the Plano, Texas, police department said this week.

The owner was picking up his dog when its paw got lodged in the trigger of the gun in his waistband, sending a bullet through his thigh.

The man was not badly hurt. The bullet didn’t hit any major arteries, and he was able to drive himself to the hospital.

The Plano Police Department took the opportunity to remind Texans to be responsible with guns.

“Muhammad Ikram worked at Sam’s 2, a store located on Palmer Avenue within Hazlet”

Of course it was in Hazlet.. I would have been even less shocked if it was right next door in Union Beach or Keansburg.

xyzzy

Here in Florida, active molesters get fed to the ‘gators.

If anyone reading this has inappropriate thoughts about children, get help

David

Think the judge just needs to go into GenPop, should solve the problem quickly.

xyzzy

Yes, since he’s a molester. But for pedophiles with no history of offending, and want to stay that way, see the website I linked above.

Steve 1371

Lots of “weird shit” going on under that black robe! The state prosecutor needs to be investigated as well for letting that crap go on.

Fyrfighter

Not sure if this qualifies as a stupid criminal, but I’d love to get a reading from Claw and the Whiz Wheel..

Thanks Claw!

And based on that article, I’m thinking Aurora PD has some ‘splaining to do….

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

That guy Jonathan Batista should have checked if the gun was loaded before screwing around with it.
Speaking of Batista-
Q- Why did Cuban Batista hate his wife
A- She used to sleep on a Castro.

xyzzy

No.

All guns are always loaded. Fullstop.

You say the clip is out and the bolt is open? Doesn’t matter; still loaded.

Again, we have to quit asking, “How stupid can people be?” They’re taking it as a challenge.

I won’t say I enjoy reading these articles, but I would enjoy administering the punishment on the pervs. And sadly, the ones I send in are only what might be considered “the better” or “the most interesting.” Be Aware, teh stoopid is strong out there.

On, nope, ain’t gonna take over the writing of the column, you’re doing too good of a job. ‘sides that, Admins and editors can’t compete for coveted EARNED NEVER AWARDED…FIRST!, on the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread. Chalk that last story up to be an act of Dog.

Commissar

I am surprised you never posted about the woman who posed as an Assistant District Attorney and successfully filed documents in the county court to have her charges dismissed.

She was eventually caught and they found she had done it in the past as well.

I guess she doesn’t count as “stupid”…

But funny none the less.

Try to keep up, you worthless spapos. Posted last Saturday on this thread. But then again, your reading comprehension is as worthless as your vulgar drivel.
