Thank you President Obama

| May 13, 2009

This will save the lives of our deployed brothers and sisters.  Never should have come to this, but thank you Sir.

In a dramatic and high-profile reversal for his young administration, President Barack Obama is seeking to block the release of 44 photographs depicting abuse of detainees in U.S. military custody in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Justice Department had already agreed to release the photos by May 28 in response to a lawsuit, but Obama is shifting course.

Let the wheels on the  bus run those friggin photos over, no tears here.

Not to be the proverbial turd in the punchbowl, but what’s the catch…there’s no way they’d let this red meat go if there wasn’t an angle.

Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before. – Rahm Emanuel

So, I ask the question; what’s the payoff here for allowing these to pass without allowing the nutroots/leftards get a few more weeks of selective outrage and calls for hearings and investigations?

Chris

Claymore hit it on the nail. Probably his best decision since in office (almost every decision regarding Iraq was already preplanned and scheduled). Kudos to the Prez for this decision, but Claymore is right. Whats the catch?

Is seeking to block the release??????? Can’t he just issue an executive order? (answer, yes he can) This way, the ACLU has to sue, the white house will relent, they can then say “see we tried”

Maybe this move was in part meant to shield Nancy from the self-made shitstorm that was barreling her way?

I just hope this really happens!

Just A Grunt

Sorry not getting all excited about this. It now goes to a court and if the court rules that the pictures must be released Barry O and the ACLU can wash their hands of the blood that will be on them and instead make the judge(s) the bad guys. Given the current state of our courts I expect them to order the photos released.

Exactly…. and there is a specific statute that allows for an executive order barring the release of the photos.

I be a cynic. I don’t believe it, until it doesn’t happen. Sorry. The COW has not been very reliable thus far.

He has seen fit to cut the defense budget while giving 39 billion to green up schools! WTF, COWboy??WTF?

Politicians, and I don’t care which party they represent, don’t do jack without an intention of 1–holding onto power, 2–consolidating power, 3–avoiding anything that violates 1 or 2. This is purely a move of self-preservation, period.

Honestly, my guess is the Odierno talked to the Prez yesterday and said “Are you ready for the influx of bodies at Dover that is going to happen next week? Because make no mistake, lives will be lost.” And, the President made the right choice.

I know you’re trying to be generous here and give the President the benefit of the doubt, but I’m not buying that when it comes to the American soldier, Obama and his band of thugs have suddenly grown a heart the size of 10 Grinches…plus 2. I don’t think I need to remind anyone here of how Democrats in particular have acted in regard to endangering soldiers and Marines in harms way in order to score a few cheap media points. Nor did Obama’s “We’re Sorry We Suck” world tour add to the image that US forces were in the Middle East as a liberating force and not a bunch of crusaders. This isn’t passing the smell test for me, and the idea that this could land in some Federal court somewhere only strengthens the aroma.

He couldn’t release them after Nancy was been outed as a Class 1 liar.

He was going to pull a “neener neener neener” with Nancy at the helm of the bus….until she fell under the wheels herself.

LOL…stupid govt. computer!

I go with Old Tanker and Just A Grunt. The WH will attempt to block, a judge will allow the release and they can say, “Well, we tried”. Same results. More American troop deaths.

It’s some meat for the wingnuts to gnaw on before they go back to tearing each other apart wile the nutroots stand on the sidelines laughing their collective ass off.
