Carbon Tax News
Bloomberg sticks his oar into everything. Now he wants to stop mining coal.

Unfortunately for this ignoramus, who has more money than good sense, steel cannot be made from ore without coking coal. Period.
How steel is made, and why coal is necessary to continue making steel is in this New Zealand article:
https://www.letstalkaboutcoal.co.nz/future-of-coal/making-steel-without-coal/
China makes 46.4% of the world’s production of steel.
While steel can be recycled using an electric arc furnace, just as we can do with aluminum cans, new steel cannot be produced without coal. Period. And in reality, while there may seem to be a surplus of steel to recycle, it is not a high enough volume to stop mining ore for new steel.
Unless Bloomberg and Romney both are looking for a way to get rid of big cities and all the steel and glass-walled buildings they contain, what both of them are doing is letting all of us know exactly how ignorant they are. And let’s not forget: Bloomberg’s office is in one of those steel-and-glass hi-rise buildings in New York City.
The Empire State Building is constructed with steel girders and steel rivets. Military ships have a lot of steel in their structures, just to protect this country from tin pot dictators. The modern automobile still has a frame of steel, with the exclusion of the DeLorean which has a fiberglass frame. There’s a lot of other history there, and I could use this spot to go on about load-bearing capacity and strength of materials and other such things that engineers have to consider, but this is a short space and the point is that not only would Bloomberg have a fit and sit in it if he had to leave his sky-high throne in NYC, but — well, without steel, civilization is likely to disintegrate. But that might make wankers like Romney and Bloomberg happy, until they found out that there’s no one around to answer their every call.
In addition, 75 GOPers have signed a letter to Congress to stop the passing of a carbon tax that Romney wants passed.

Okay, well, I want Romney to go cold and hungry in the night until he figures out that he’s wrong, and HE should pay a carbon tax every time he runs his ignorant mouth. Plants need CO2 simply to exist. They inhale it and exhale O2 through their tops and through pores and roots. The volume of carbon intake by the plant kingdom is astronomical; in fact, without CO2 for plants to use to produce sugar (plant food), the 20% balance we currently have in the atmosphere (which level protects us mere humans from hyperoxia [oxygen poisoning]), the planet will – not would – return to either the Carboniferous or Silurian levels of atmospheric oxygen at 30%, and all of these fools who say and do these abundantly ignorant, stupid things, will cease to exist. All of them.
Oh, yeah – as an aside, a biology lab ran an experiment to find out which insects could grow larger in a 30% O2 atmosphere. Dragonflies increased their own size by a factor of 200%. https://www.wired.com/2010/11/huge-dragonflies-oxygen/
So which would you rather have in your fish pond: the common blue dasher, which is about 3 inches long? Or the meganeura, with its 28 inch wingspan and large jaws? This is the logical answer to “let’s start a carbon tax.”
Otherwise, these politicians and ecohippies are doing their best to destroy the entire animal kingdom. But that means they’d go down that rathole, too. That’s called suicide. That hasn’t occurred to them yet.

Didn’t Germany just shut down the last of their coal mines recently? How many did that put out of work, just in the mines? Guess they want ALL of the steel production in China. And when is the last time someone bragged on that high quality Chinese steel? Bet it ranks right up there with their poisonous dry wall. Or lead painted toys. Or contaminated pet food. Or bat germs released from college labs….or anything!
Both of these domestic enemies of our country need to just FOAD!
You and Old Manchu give me hope that someone somewhere besides me is aware and knowing.
I keep saying “This, too, shall pass” but it’s also possible it will be a while before things settle down.
You forgot about the toxic toothpaste KoB…
Yeah ^WORD^ Fyr… That kinda goes under that heading of…everything. Damn the Chinese Communist and everything they are and touch. I have much sympathy for the Chinese People…their government? None at all! Kill all Commies for Mommy and let the Supreme Being sort them out.
Tanks Ex, I try. Being what I consider very well read, even before the inherwebz daze, I have tried to keep up with all current events, trends, and societal norms, paying attention to how they relate to past history and their possible effect on us, today. It really amazes me that people that are supposed to be so educated and worldly can be SO DAMN teh STOOOOOOOPID!!! I get the egotistical and self centered part, but the pure stupidity is incredulous.
Maybe the Camerons of the world will be able to maintain what so many of us struggled to save for them over the last 70+ years.
Lars ♥ Global Warming!
… and rioting violent thugs in America. He also ♥ them as well.
These people always think in one dimension when the world is comprised of many intermingling layers. You simply cannot remove one thing without a ripple effect cascading through society. The left is heavy on slogans and catch phrases, but light on actual plans. Its the difference between dreamers and doers.
There’s plenty that the Green Screw Deal don’t understand. Even rudimentary engineering and real world experience are beyond their ken.
Think about all those folks in Louisiana and east Texas who now have no electrical power. Heck, think of me in SE Michigan when a strong thunderstorm line or ice storm goes through, leaving us without electricity for some days. Lots of people rely on standby or portable generators powered by nat. gas or gasoline to run the furnace and refrigerator. Don’t tell me a backup battery is going to keep you warm for 4 or 5 days in winter.
I will probably be in the grave when the 100% renewable stuff is complete, but I’d love to see all the libs in my area sadly looking at their old standby generators while they freeze in the dark in the dead of a sub-zero winter’s night, a couple of days after an ice storm when the temp had dropped, wondering what happened to their nice lifestyle.
I agree, George. When I moved into my home 15 years ago, I could have replaced the gas stove with a newer model. Almost did, in fact, until I read up the information on convection stoves and how the gas valves for those stoves will NOT open if the power goes out. You are stranded, period.
So I kept my 1998 GE XL and while we’ve had 4 outages here since then, with only 2 in the winter, I was able to cook food on the stovetop by lighting the burners with kitchen matches. I will never give this stove up, period.
That’s the reason I get those reprints of old cookery books and pay attention to what is going on in the real world.
I’ve got all electric, which means my stove doesn’t work when the power is off. That’s okay, though; I will just pop everything into the microwave.
Louisiana. Pretty much missed east Texas. NE of Tyler we got maybe 1/32″ of rain, some breeze, and a cloudy morning. Nice day to work outside a while.
I admit I’m jealous of Bloomberg. It is amazing how he knows better than anyone else. Every two months he has a good idea to save us from ourselves. We should be thankful for busybodies like him and have the humility to know that a billionaire urbanite knows what is best for all 360 million or so….
@@##&&%%**+++!!! Romney.
I’m gonna do my best to “primary” that little piss ant when he’s up for re-election in 2 years.
Keeping the wife happy be damned!
Maybe it’s time someone told these lame political animals that they simply are not very important these days.
