NBC News asks the question, “Is it really a convention if nobody convenes?”
Milwaukee, host to this year’s quadrennial Democratic National Convention to select their candidates for President and Vice President of the United States, is a ghost town. Normally the event brings in tens of thousands of convention goers, media, political hacks, lobbyists, and protesters (and obligatory counter protesters against the protesters protests).
Hotels are way under filled, and the police and Secret Service deployed there appear to be guarding nothing.

What if they held a mostly peaceful demonstration, and nobody rioted? Heard the morning hosts on WMAL discussing the “speeches” from last night. Democrats I talked to seem pretty happy with the convention so far. They really are praising some of the speeches.
Overall it is scoring better than I expected.
I thought it was going to be an empty audience snooze fest. But so far people seem to like it.
I think a four day convention is a failure of an idea though.
