Reported Nooses Were Exercise Aids
Oakland’s mayor announced that a hate crime investigation was initiated in response to “nooses” discovered in a park. She argued that these were racially-charged symbols of terror. The Police even had photos of the “nooses”. However, the person that placed them there argued that they were not nooses. The individual, an African American, argued that they were exercise equipment.
From ABC News:
Mayor Libby Schaaf said Wedesday that a hate crime investigation was under way after a social media post identified a noose at the city’s popular Lake Merritt. Police said they searched the area on Tuesday and found five ropes attached to trees.
The Police Department provided five photographs of trees, some of which showed knotted ropes and one that appeared to have a piece of plastic pipe attached to a rope, hanging from tree limbs.
They have been removed by city officials.
Victor Sengbe, who is black, told KGO-TV that the ropes were part of a rigging that he and his friends used as part of a larger swing system. He also shared video of the swing in use.
“Out of the dozen and hundreds and thousands of people that walked by, no one has thought that it looked anywhere close to a noose. Folks have used it for exercise. It was really a fun addition to the park that we tried to create,” Sengbe said.
“It’s unfortunate that a genuine gesture of just wanting to have a good time got misinterpreted into something so heinous,” he told the station.
ABC has the full article here. Thanks to Gun Bunny for the link. This isn’t the first time that people misidentified items as nooses. A couple of people, who are Facebook friends, previously reported nooses at different college campuses.
From The College Fix:
Perkins shares the same hometown and last name as a Louisiana State University student who reported a purported noose on that campus. They are also Facebook friends.
Clarke Perkins alleged in 2015, right after the racial riots that rocked the University of Missouri, that an electric cable with a knot at its end was a “noose.”
After the truth was revealed, she explained her confusion by saying she thought it was a “makeshift” noose, not “professionally made.” Perkins also blamed the racial climate at LSU, saying that “if black students were more accepted here, I wouldn’t have thought [it was] a noose”:

To a racist, EVERYTHING is about race
Common Sense: So rare today it should be considered a SUPER POWER!
Ha!
Sad but true.
They definitely don’t look like nooses.
I am sure they were reported to authorities as such, and since the senior “leaders” of the community never actually saw them for themselves they just accepted the reports on face value.
What they look like is irrelevant. It’s a piece of dangling rope. In the eyes of a race-baiting, everything-is-racist snowlflake, that is the moral equivalent of a 13 loop hangman’s noose. Because they NEED to see racism everywhere to support their dialog, otherwise their very existence becomes moot.
Sometimes a rope is just a rope.
It wouldn’t be the first time that some people overreact with unwarranted claims of racism.

If they are too ignorant to know the difference, then heads need to roll, damn the collateral damage.
Was it Freud that said “sometimes a banana peel is just a banana peel?” Cuz maybe someone was just too lazy to find a trash can. Back in the unwoke days, a dropped banana peel was just a prop for some slip and fall slapstick comedy, not a threat of racist violence.
Saddam Hussein ♥ rope nooses!
If that ol’ feller was still with us today he would laugh his head off at your comment.
I see what you did there! Awesome.
Shoulda heard the hue and cry when our cable placing crews would show up in the ‘hood, break out the rigging ropes, put on the white protective Tyvek suits and then holler out to the crew at the next manhole; “All right, we gonna start hanging ’em from this end!” The white hard hats and the protective face hood/masks got some looks too.
Wow. The sheer stupidity involved in a panic-strieken episode of misidentifying something that people had been using for months is amazing. It grows like a fungus.
Next thing you know, you’ll have to have a license to buy rope, even if it’s for nothing more than hanging clothes on a clothesline. And if passersby see your clothes hanging from the clothesline, they’ll see people instead of clean laundry hanging out to dry.
Ooopsss!!! Used that naughty word “HANGING”.
What world of idiots are we living on?
But the black clothes get lynched.
That is a very good point, Hack Stone.
It’s all good until some thin-skinned snowflake decides that he/she/IT is “offended”.
API, I’m rapidly becoming offended that THEY are offended. They’re all about 10 days late and $100 short. Or maybe even more than that.
I SO miss the Good Old Days when our Nation wasn’t so overrun by perpetually offended WUSSIES and I’m sure that you and the rest of the TAH Regulars do too!
Those people should be mocked and ridiculed until they slink back into their parents’ basements.
PS
Where are all those bullies when you need them?
That being said, whoever put the noose in Bubba Wallace’s pit garage at Talladega over the weekend needs to be hung from it.
By their balls. Provided they can be found.
That has to be some of the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard of.
The NASCAR garage area is open, so the teams can eyeball each other’s work to “prevent cheating” and the likes. Those areas are busy with people working all sorts of hours on a race weekend. Its hard to believe someone just ‘wandered in’. I’d like to see this ‘noose’. Is it a Jussie Smullet twine with a knot? An actual noose? Wire? Cable? What? I’m not saying Wallace or anybody on the Petty Team placed it there, but rather someone trying to make it look someone had bad intentions. That would fit the narrative:
NASCAR: is full redocks & full of racists. As the above showed, let’s let the full story come out before judgement is passed.
Amusing how any rope with any old loop “resembles a noose”. Which has somehow in the last few years been appropriated as solely a black thing, as seemingly only blacks were ever lynched. Bet that comes as a helluva shock to a few thousand Old West accused horse thieves and cattle rustlers.
You left out bank robbers and stagecoach hold-up gangs, David.
There are quite a few Chinese in Tombstone’s boot hill would also be shocked.
And Mexicans, and Irish, and Italians, and pretty much anyone else who didn’t fit in with whatever was the predominant group in their neighborhood. Mormons in Utah lynched non-Mormons, and Mormons outside Utah got lynched by everybody else. In Missouri, you could get lynched on one side of town for being pro-Union, and a quarter-mile away you could get lynched on suspicion of having a cousin’s-neighbor’s-brother who was a bushwhacker. White men got lynched in the South on suspicion of deserting the Confederate Army. “Border” states like West Virginia and Kentucky, who had large numbers of men fighting for both sides, saw many incidents of wounded and discharged veterans of both sides being lynched by the other side’s sympathizers when they came home crippled (the Hatfield-McCoy Feud had a lot to do with one such incident).
And the horse they rode in on.
I had a rawhide noose as a key chain.
It was cool because I learned how to tie one as
a kid watching Westerns. Thirteen knots to go
with the thirteen steps up the gallows.
On the other end was a wooden peace symbol, hand
carved by my friend “Kent” from Iowa. He used to
carve items all the time in Viet of the Nam and
gift them to each of his buddies. Still have it.
Seems to me all the people getting hanged in Westerns
were white men. I’m sure they hanged a few injuns
(can I say injun?) but I don’t recall “systemic”
lynchings of black people on the Saturday night shows.
Heh, TV was all black and white back then.
I found this very helpful in understanding what is going on:

There are a lot of resources off of this page, and some very thoughtful analysis.
The stupidity is really getting out of control these days. First of all, lynching has commonly happened to individuals of every race, and not just in America, either. This common perception that lynching has been solely or even mostly targeted at black American men is ignorant and unjust. Second, lynching doesn’t necessarily mean hanging, although that has been a common method. A lynching is an extrajudicial execution conducted by an angry mob without due process. The method of execution is not what makes it a lynching, as lynching can be and has been done via shooting, stoning, guillotine, immolation, etc. What makes it a lynching is the lack of any kind of fair trial. Here’s the real kicker: just because somebody got lynched doesn’t mean they’re innocent. There are multiple recorded incidents where the guy who’s lynched was most likely guilty! Was that still a lynching? Yes! Why? Because they never got due process, therefore their execution, however well-deserved, was by definition unjust, and motivated by the same torches-&-pitchforks mentality that’s been burning down cities lately. This is pretty close to what’s happened with Chauvin and the other three dickheads, in that riots went down even as they were already unemployed and facing serious charges. And finally, even when hanging has been the method used by lynch mobs, nooses were not used that often. The noose is a rather complex knot that most people don’t know how to tie. It would be far more likely in any given incident that a lynch mob would either tie a hangman’s knot (much simpler, but less effective) or some kind of improvised slip knot, simply because they probably didn’t know how to tie a noose. That’s not to say that nobody was ever lynched via noose, it just means that the association of nooses with lynching is not really based on fact. Nooses were/are consistently used for executions ordered by the court following trial by jury. There have been times and places where black men were unlikely to get a fair shake from the jury, but that’s not the same as lynching, and… Read more »
Cowboys just used a plain old lariat to hang rustlers and horse thieves.
Let’s just outlaw all rope that is suitable for lynching. That will surely eliminate the “racist” noose threat.
I hope these peeps don’t get upset when they see me with a 15 foot sampson spot cord from Kings saddlery doing a flat spin. Hmmm maybe it isn’t a good idea to keep those half dozen coiled poly and spot cord ropes “hanging” from the aluminum H column’s which hold down the storm shutters in the Florida room (enclosed porch) Will this trend be the end of the American Rodeos????
No, but it does mean that there will be no black roping steers.
I forgot to mention that the Reichstag demoRAT lame stream media cnn, LSMFT, nbc etc should investigate the noose stories before they spread the fake noose to their Lemming listeners. I see they must have taken the Joseph Goebbels news course.
Just read the Conservative Tree House (CTH) article on the NASCAR garage noose. It proves that every garage at Taladega has a small diameter roped with a loop on the end to pull down the garage doors. Each of them have the appearance of a noose, even though the loops are barely big enough to put a hand in. They have been in place for over five years. The likelihood is the rope broke and someone on the subject pit crew mistakenly believed the broken piece with the loop on the end was a “noose” threat.
I just wonder how much play the truth will get in Progda when the noose threat is found to be false.
Phuq NASCAR.
