Rapone resigns commission

| June 19, 2018

Mick sends a link to the Associated Press which reports that Spenser Rapone has submitted a resignation of his commission as an Army officer to the 10th Mountain Division command;

Top brass at Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division accepted Rapone’s resignation Monday after an earlier reprimand for “conduct unbecoming of an officer.” Rapone said an investigation found he went online to advocate for a socialist revolution and disparage high-ranking officers and U.S. officials. Officially, the Army said in a statement only that it conducted a full investigation and “appropriate action was taken.”

An unrepentant Rapone summed up the fallout in yet another tweet Monday that showed him extending a middle finger at a sign at the entrance to Fort Drum, accompanied by the words, “One final salute.”

“I consider myself a revolutionary socialist,” the 26-year-old Rapone told The Associated Press in a series of interviews. “I would encourage all soldiers who have a conscience to lay down their arms and join me and so many others who are willing to stop serving the agents of imperialism and join us in a revolutionary movement.”

Rapone said his journey to communism grew out of his experiences as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan before he was accepted into the U.S. Military Academy. And those views only hardened during his studies of history as one of the academy’s “Long Gray Line.”

Yeah, OK – the Taliban made him a commie.

Here’s his farewell Tweet to Fort Drum;

In case he deletes the Tweet;

Greg Rinckey, an attorney specializing in military law, said it’s rare for an officer out of West Point to receive an other-than-honorable discharge. He added that it’s also possible the military academy could seek repayment of the cost of Rapone’s education because he didn’t serve the full five-year service obligation required upon graduation.

Hey. Rapone isn’t the only one hitting the exit. Ask and you shall receive.

I should point out that the West Point News Release is dated today, notwithstanding the June 8, 2018 date that accompanied it.
Rapone? Heffington? Don’t know. Don’t care. Caslen is gone. And…bye.

Fyrfighter

WOOT!!! that’s a good start, now how about the muzzie prof that’s getting paid to do nothing (which i guess is better than getting paid to corrupt and abet scum like rapone…)

desert

They are going to give the a.h. an “other than honorable discharge”! Give that bas-ard a DISHONORABLE and throw the worthless brainwashed p.o.s. out of the country imho!

Casey

I was under the impression that officers can’t be given dishonorable discharges.

Carlton G. Long

Great news. Maybe CHAOS is behind this.

Please mark your calendars and save these dates: 5-7 September 2018. That’s when the “West Point Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Conference” will be held–unless the next superintendent has balls enough to cancel that social justice bullshit masquerading as leadership training.

Mason

In a case of great irony, I imagine we would not be welcomed at this inclusivity event.

Dinotanker

WTF will this kind of BS conference consist of?

I hate meetings, if I had to train on Diversity and Inclusion it would run something along the lines…

“Look at your uniform, to paraphrase one of our Drill Sergeants: “You are no longer white, or brown, or red, or whatever. You are in the US Army, you are now CAMO.”

That would be it.

What more do ya need? Or if one is being formal…You are Army Blue…now go polish those shoes they look like hell.

It seems these kind of “feel good” type of conferences do nothing but make the divides greater and greater…

That’s precisely what the effect is, that and triggering the uh-ohs in those who wish a successful service career by deterring them from disciplining miscreants because they are in a ‘special class.’

You should read LTC Effington’s (US Army, RET) open letter regarding the goings-on at West Point to see how far this PC bullshit got in, oh, eight or so years. It’s sickening.

Ex-PH2

One can only hope that the nonsense will stop and the military will return to being military instead of a bunch of spoiled brats.

OWB

Military service has traditionally been the most egalitarian of anything in US society. That alone is sufficient reason the lefties/proggies/whatevers had to destroy how it functioned. Where no problem existed they had to create one.

John Seabee

Well, since no one else as expressed this sentiment…

We haven’t seen the last of this asshole.

ETCS ret

No, but for the moment, we can celebrate that this POS isn’t wearing the uniform of an Army Officer.

cato

Chicken shit Army Brass won’t ask for his Academy education to be reimbursed. Gutless political appointees.

Maybe he’ll run for John Kerry’s old Senate seat.

The more I read about Rapone and his West Point mentor, Rasheed Hosein, the more bizarre and insane this Rapone debacle becomes. Really, all I can say is wow. BTW, Rasheed Hosein was placed on administrative leave last September, immediately after Rapone story went viral. West Point convinced no one in saying that Hosein’s suspension had nothing to do with Rapone. I checked the faculty listing in the History Dept at West Point this morning and I am happy to report that there is no listing for a fat-ass from the University of Chicago by the name of Hosein.

Rapone has mommy issues, one article I read suggests. His parents divorced and his mother, while posting pics on her FB page of other of her six kids, posted none of the disgraced Rapone, even when he was in service as an EM. Rapone is from New Castle, PA and sought a West Point appointment out of high school, but he was rejected. You can still find “recruit me” info about Rapone from his HS days. No one did, so he enlisted in the Army. His father, the county treasurer or something, blames his son A-stan experience for the radicalization. I lean toward the mommy issue explanation. Rapone is a piece of work and a piece of shit. West Point was his enabler, afraid to take the steps necessry to protect AD Army from this asshole. If you would like a glimpse of Rapone’s views, take a gander at this article which he published last year, condemning West Point.

I stopped after the fifth or sixth “white supremacy narrative” with no explanation of what that is nor examples beyond the presence of portraits, statues, etc of Robert E. Lee.

The way things have been lately, if Rapone had been undiscovered, what’re the odds he’d be a WP professor in a few years?

Martinjmpr

It’s not tough to figure out why Rapone was admitted to West Point but it’s a little baffling that he was able to stay long enough to graduate.

If you read LTC Heffington’s statement, it seems that Rapone may have been allowed to get away with crap that other cadets would not by virtue of his prior enlisted service with the Rangers in Afghanistan. Slick-sleeved, never-deployed cadre might have been reluctant to drop the hammer on a bonafide war veteran (even if he was kicked out of the Ranger regiment for failing to meet the standards.)

At least, that’s what I’d like to hope because if not it means that the vaunted academic and conduct standards at WP exist in name only and are not enforced, and that’s bad for both the Academy and the Army as a whole.
