Saturday steaming bowl of Skeet (Updated)
Old Trooper sent this photo from a link at Weekly Standard which says that the White House released this photo this morning. Is it just me, or is that a LOT of smoke coming out of the muzzle? And I’ve never seen a barrel ported that far back, or in that direction and the smoke coming out of the port doesn’t seem to correspond to the smoke coming out of the muzzle. He seems to be shooting a little low for a target that should be in the air, like a bird, not on the ground like Pauxatauny Phil.
But then someone sent us a picture that might explain it;
I’ve never shot a shotgun that cost a few thousand dollars or one that was designed for skeet shooting – all of mine were tools made for doing a job. So, I’m asking.

I took it from this video – I don’t see the amount of smoke pouring out of the muzzle like the President’s. I also see some recoil in the video that I don’t see in the picture of the President. So, either the picture of the President is photo shopped or he’s using blanks. In my considered opinion.

If Dear Leader was shooting some skeets, wouldn’t He have a shell pouch so He could reload? I still wave the BS flag on all the smoke. Wonder if the Camp David armorer set Him up with some smoke rounds?

The other thing is that the gas blowing out the rib vents fans out vertically both above and below the barrel, and out both sides of the barrel–unlike the skeeter-in-chief’s shot. Further, the smoke is not nearly as dense.
So the skeeter-in-chief’s photo is most assuredly not fake. Thus spake Carney…

why hasn’t anyone mentioned that the gun only has one choke tube. It looks like the top barrel has a choke tube and the
lower barrel doe not. a double barrel is always used in skeet
if not a semi-automatic or pump. So why no choke tube in the

Shhh…don’t bring up the Photoshop thingy. That will end up on the list of regulated items. We’ll have to register our copies and they may get confiscated.
The “official” WH photo has some problems i.e. stance, stock placement on the should instead of in the shoulder when firing, the ported barrel appears to have smoke coming out of only one side and the amount of smoke in general.
So, what I think happened is that they took a picture of Obama with the shotgun up and then added the smoke later to make it appear that he was in the middle of shooting. Unfortunately, whomever added the smoke to the picture knows as much about shooting as Obama does.
He only has to convince those who believe anything he says, so to 50% of ignorant America, if he says he was skeet shooting, then this picture is all the proof they will ever need, and we are all just conspiracy nuts.
I wonder if the skeets feel their rights were violated by this radical gun nut?
Do you need a license to shoot skeets? Can you shoot the females and males? Is there a skeet season?
Maybe they should have posed him with Michael Dukakis in his tank turret giving Obama instructions on how to shoot skeet.

Dunno if this was answered previously… some such shotguns are “ported” (vented) to as to lessen the recoil to better maintain target picture.
I had to look this up after seeing the photo… otherwise I know nothing about skeet shooting.

@62, yeah, as someone mentioned upthread, we’ve seen him throw a baseball and ride a bike. It’ll take more than photoshop to help him man up.

there is no point for the white house to post photos like this anyway, unless the president can figure out a way to change his skin color none you will change your opinion of him, now matter how many great things he continues to do for this country.

I don’t see why he couldn’t be shooting skeet. Even though they may be higher, by the time President Teleprompter makes a decision the target would be almost on the ground.

The reason you see a lot of smoke is because he’s using a special “Presidential” load.
I’ve only shot a shotgun a few times in my life, and not for a LONG time. So I’m far from an expert. Even less expert on golf. To me, the photo of BHO trying to prove ” we do skeet shooting all the tone” looks a lot like O.J. Simpson playing golf. As a novice, I think I could do just s well. The shotgun I shot would have knock him on his scrawny butt.
