Man shoots teen suspect during attempted carjacking in North Carolina

by: Rodney Overton
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A teen suspect with a gun was shot Sunday night during an attempted carjacking at a motel near Crabtree Valley Mall off Glenwood Avenue at Interstate 440, police said.

The shooting was reported just after 8:50 p.m. along Arrow Road at the Red Roof Inn, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

The incident involved a man whose car was in the Red Roof Inn parking lot, police said. A 17-year-old boy with a gun tried to carjack the man’s sedan and fired at least one shot during the incident, according to police.

However, the would-be victim was also armed and fired back — hitting the teenage suspect, Raleigh police said.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police officers were busy Friday evening responding to shooting victims at three different locations all within the 7 o’clock hour.

According to CCPD, early investigation shows that at 7 p.m. a male suspect arrived at a location on 800 block of Dabney Street, pulled out a gun and shot a male victim. CCPD said the victim then took out his own gun and shot back at the suspect, who was injured but fled the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At 7:13 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Ayers Street where they found the shooting suspect suffering from a gunshot wound. He was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to CCPD.

CCPD officials said that both men are believed to be between 18 and 20 years old and knew each other.

Details are limited at this time, but we know that police responded to a shooting victim on Graham Road in Flour Bluff around 7 p.m. as well.

The gun was always loaded, and always above the door so that Pa could get it quickly and easily, any time he needed a gun.
