Sparks included too many !!!!!’s in his initial claim to count as a legitimate first. However, Sparks did use proper punctuation in his second declaration.
All that is mute because Sparks failed to make his claim within the 10 minute requirement which would authorize the secondary or even tertiary claim beyond the obvious existence of posted comments prior to the claim.
Pending final disposition of this dispute by the arbiter of all firstiness issues, thus be it that AW1Ed shall be known as “First of the Firsties” for today. At least for an hour or so.

An interesting and unique situation is presented in today’s WOT by AZtoVA and Sparks. The former made the initial comment in the WOT for 13 January but did not declare first. AZtoVA could have done so with or without caps, a mix of caps and lower case, and with or without punctuation. “1st” as a declaration would also have been sufficient to establish first. But AZtoVA did none of those things. A minute after that initial comment, AZtoVA made a second comment, to wit: “So this is what ‘“first”’ feels like?” And therein lies the rub. AZtoVA’s use of the word first was not a declaration of first. He merely used the word while under the false impression that he was first by virtue of his initial comment. Nearly 10 minutes later, after lamenting that he hasn’t been first in a WOT in ages, Sparks realized correctly that first had yet to be declared by anyone. Consequently, he wrote FIRST, followed by a boatload of exclamation points. The excess punctuation is neither here nor there. As noted in a prior ruling, a declarant can use or not use punctuation. In any event, the conclusion is inescapable. Sparks, being the first commenter to actually declare first in this week’s WOT, is officially FIRST.
Whew – that’s a relief! The weight of having stepped in it was getting me down, way, way down. Thank you soooo much for issuing your ruling without delay, A/C!!!

Didn’t see anything but misdemeanors among the charges Jonn posted. Here’s hoping I misread them because a couple of felonies would be terrific.
Both charges are misdemeanors, but if it occurs again within 5 years it’s a class 6 felony. Interesting he has 4 violate protective orders. Thinking they must have been messages, and the nature of them led to the stalking charge. Wonder if he’ll actually show up for court. Doubt they would extradite over those charges. Anyway, 2017 just keeps on getting better and better!
Just let him fail to show up, let alone get jailed for Contempt of Court for stunts he’s pulled in other courtrooms!
Oh, then I guess it depends on the state laws. It’s a felony where I live, but the level depends on how much and where. Might not be so bad downstate, but occasionally, there’s a spillover from Chicago. And anyway, Oprah used to live here and she probably had stalkers, too.

The man turned 65 last October. And folks are up in arms about his removal, the timing of it, blah, blah, blah.
Why is this an issue? How much past mandatory retirement age (60) should anyone expect to remain in military service? Sure, waivers can be granted, but it is very uncommon for that to occur past age 63 and then only in critical career fields.

No idea what lines you are reading, John. He obviously was held in very high esteem or he would not have been granted multiple waivers to continue to serve. Were he a loose canon, pressure would most definitely have been brought to bear by those who could have easily replaced him.
Age waivers are not automatic. Even at his level, they must be approved, and are closely scrutinized.

As I read on Doctrine Man, Washington DC’s NG AG is appointed by POTUS, the only one that is. So, just the same as many other positions, he serves at the privilege of the President, period.
And, in the NG “everything is waiverable” so him turning 65 is irrelevant, especially as a flag officer. But, the “norm” is that you can stay until 65 in the National Guard. Not to mention, you can be an E-5 for 40 years because the E-6 is holding the one position and has been in for 41 years, but he’ll retire “soon”.
As the waiver is/was granted by Obama, the waiver expires with Obama’s term which is 120120JAN17.
Why the fuss? Trump may have already signed a continuance making this yet another non-story.
The Texas State Guard mandatory-retired everyone over 70 last year. They had been waivering them up until then (one was 87yo). They made the announcement in February, with a 30 June effective date, and then backpedalled and said the affected individuals could apply for a one-year extension, which they did. Rumors flew thick and fast for months as to whether or not the extensions would be granted, and to whom. They took until 15 or 20 June to decide on the waivers, and denied all but eight, TXSG-wide. Retirements were still effective 30 June, leaving units NO time to adjust, select replacements, make an orderly transition, etc.
I don’t disagree with the new policy, but I thought its implementation was pretty piss-poor.

I know this is on-line only so caution vets to not hear the siren song of yesteryear and think the PX is still a bargain like it was decades ago.

Also, had to reread the article and now ubderstand what you are saying: That those Veterans who do not have an ID card to get into the bricks and mortar PX (normally reserve for Retired personnel) can now use the Exchange on line, but yhey are not allowed to purchase on line those three items. Am I correct in what I think you are sharing? ☺

It is gray, cold and gloomy in my kingdom. I am going to make chocolate chip cookies. It’s the classic Tollhouse recipe, but I use dark brown sugar instead of light brown and two teaspoons of vanilla extract instead of one.
Somebody keeps stealing them after I get them done.
And about what time will the initial batch be done?
(I seem to have suddenly developed a craving for chocolate chip cookies made to the classic tollhouse recipe, in the dark sugar variation. However, I have no knowledge on how ex-PH2’s cookies disappear….)

Since there’s still about an hour until today’s football games start, I thought I’d stick my head in the door and say a couple of things.
1. The boys basketball team from West Hog Flats blew their chances of a perfect losing season by winning last night’s ball game 70-60 in OT. Oh, well, there’s always next year.

Well, Schnitzengruben brewed by Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company as an Hefeweizen style beer, which has 3.5 out of 5.0.
So if your limit is 15 Schnitzengruben, then obviously, it’s bigger than the Schwanzstucker.
I think the real question is: did Julius Caesar drink Egyptian beer?
Gaaaadaaamit. I was so pulling for West Hog Flats. There really ought to be an investigation into how they won. Was their basket lower than their opponent’s basket? Was there a ringer added to the team for its final game? Won by 10 in OT? Fix.
Well, it was a home game for the West Hog Flats kids and the opposing team was a mirror image record and stats wise. And now with the WHF kids out of the running for a perfect season, I can turn my attention to the team from the other county I talked about last week. That team is 0-11 so far with a 25 point spread in their offense/defense and I’m really pulling for them to go the distance and get started on another 117 loss streak.
I will provide updates as needed.
